- Sitting along a country road sits another lonely Abandoned farmhouse. This older two story home looks like it was last occupied sometime in the 1970s. So come along with me as we explore this Lonely Abandoned Farmhouse. Enjoy

Yes.... i know. It's called a vanity. Don't need 528 comments reminding me. 🙂
It's a vanity.
Lol, jk.😁
I believe that style is called "waterfall".🤗👍
Great vid!
Not an architect or historian so my knowledge is limited on older places like this.
@@jennilang721 , that was what I called it when replying to my computer aloud.
JPVideos ... Geez, you've got patience and you're so tactful with regards to replying to certain pompous 'air up their you know what' individuals comments !!!! I think 'they feel' they're informing you... But hey, one, two people ok...But when others climb on that darn band wagon and keep repeating the same thing....let's say it drives me bonkers!!! ~~AND this isn't even my channel, I'm a happy subscriber, so I'm positive it would drive you up the wall too! True gentleman you are mate, I couldn't be as cordial as you are! Thanks for amazing locations and content, you rock BIG TIME!!! :-)
@@kimhohlmayer7018 I'm surprised to find someone I agree with to such a degree. I agree mid 1800s is the safest dating for the same reasons. It was wonderful to see the original roof has kept the house in such great shape with minimal vandalism to windows. The doors are also very common to the 1800s, a small shame the knobs are gone, I'd love to have a closer look to see that it has the type of metal locks on the interior doors that I believe it does I'd be willing to bet they are there and intact. It's great to see someone else with the same knowledge of architectural history. I hope I see your thoughts on other videos. I was especially happy with this one due to the condition of the home allowing such access to the details inside. The plaster is in amazing condition, I know horse hair was often used in the plaster mix in the Southest to help in binding but wonder if the plaster here had another unusual ingredient that caused it to hold up especially well. I think I don't need to discuss woodwork as I believe you seem to have a great knowledge on this period. Again, it's extremely refreshing to find another true admirer of architectural history with accurate knowledge.
That's an Art Deco vanity.
This house was quite a statement of wealth, back in the day.
No doubt the interstate had something to do with it's demise.
Great job!
Nicely done video. Thank you again for your exploration and sharing with us
My mother had a vanity very similar to that one. the only difference was, hers had a large round mirror instead of the standard rectangular or square mirror. but the type of wood and the design were just like this one.
I think, with a lot of hard work and money, that house could be restored to its former beauty.
Yeah! This one does have some potential. I thought that too when watching Jay's video. "Hard work" and "money" being the key words of course!
This house would be well worth it, it may well be standing when a modern house is gone on it's own but definitely would renovated beyond doubt. I've been an active preservationist since the late 80's and the condition of this house is outstanding
Jeanette Bateman if you were here I'd give you a dollar so you could get started fixing it.💚
It would be beautiful but haunted. Just imagine how many people who died there that weren’t counted for.
Ton of money
I just don't understand why people feel the need to break out windows and write graffetti in someone else's house. I don't care if it is vacant or not. Its sad.
@ravencrone56. I have family in Ireland and there is a small farm house next to my Aunt and the gardens are still so pretty and the little house just sits there. I don't know when or how we lost control here in America.
@@shawneeb3771 , you have no idea..? Visit Detroit, Chicago, Watts CA. etc... Youll get the idea how and why.
It's a disgrace
It's awesome that we have so much history but it is going away from us
@@56cadd I lived in Chicago Detroit and I know it's not a place to live
I find such sadness for this beautiful home that probably had happiness in it at multiple times!! I always picture how it was back then. If I had the money to restore it I would. Imagine great grandparents, grandparents, parents , neighbors and children rustling through the home, dinner on the table with laughter.
1971...😊best year ever. Haha. I believe the word you were looking for is "vanity". I love this!! It's free of graffiti, it's not very worn down. You've done alot of old houses but this is my favorite so far. If walls could talk my man....😍oh the stories they'd tell. Wood work is something else. Love the "Look magazines 👍👍. Thanks JP for sharing!!
Thanks jane
No way thanks anyway , I’m not going to leave in that house even for an overnight.😳
Always makes me wonder why it was abandoned. The highway moving in, parents/grandparents dying...so many questions. Thanks really great find. I appreciate your videos. History in America.
Ty
I love those old house's they have so much character, many thanks.
Back in it's day bet it was a beautiful house with lots of love :)
What lovely old architecture. This is definitely turn of the 20th century, before electricity. Obviously put in much later after the house was built. I'm all stupid over the way the rooms are laid out upstairs and the veranda up there. A lot of really old turn of the century southern style homes had back stair cases leading down into the kitchen so that mom could go down and start breakfast and get the Kitchen heated up by an old wood stove. And I'm thinking that back room downstairs was the kitchen, where it had a fireplace to cook in if they couldn't afford a wood burning stove. I am ga-ga over this house. The attention to detail is second to none. Thank you SO much for getting this on film before nature reclaims it. Such a shame that it was left to rot. So many of us would give our eye teeth for a chance to have something this grand and lovely. Thank you.
That is a beautiful house!! The colors on the ceilings bring back memories of growing up... Thank you for another great video!
I love those old southern farm houses. That second floor porch would be an amazing spot to just sit and relax and enjoy your favorite beverage. Would definitely make a beautiful home for someone who could save it. Another great find JP.
Minus the highway sounds.
@@JPVideos81 yes, that definitely would get annoying after awhile.
Absolutely love the double porches in the front! Excellent video! Great work👍👍
Hi Kappy!!! Hope all is well😊
Appreciate you checking it out.
Beautiful old home especially the front deck. Its definitely worth fixing up ❤
Very interesting old home.. Horrible traffic noise, could not imagine buying and living on a busy noisy road no matter how nice that home.
Looks like that place has been through one hell of a journey. Places like this make me sad because there’s so much potential and so many homeless. Fantastic video.
Awesome video ,love that house ,I'm sure in it's prime it was beautiful. thanks for sharing .god bless.
What a beautiful house! The sound stability adds to its appeal as well as the unique layouts, the unusually low wooden paneling and the owner's choice of colors. I especially loved the room that turned out Not to be the attic. This house just Felt good.
Beautiful old farmhouse. No graffitti! Too bad the freeway is built nearly on top of it. Sound of freeway is deafening! Love this house!
Wow this house is absolutely beautiful Shawnee would love to purchase if I can find the location, hello How are you doing with your family Shawnee I hope you’re safe from the virus?
Wow this house is amazing, hi Shawnee how are you doing I hope you’re ok?
My grandmother had her house in all those colors. She lived in California, northern. Loved the video thanks 😊
Tin roof, barn and well house, wow they don't make them like that anymore. And an out house. Looks original 👌
I really love all the old doors, the paint schemes, the Fireplaces and the Vanity... Oh and That sink with the waterfountian was something I've never seen before.. Thank you for sharing this Beautiful Farmhouse😊
You're so welcome
I loved this house. Has to be full of memories. Thanks for sharing this.
Love your videos. You show the utmost respect to past and present. I've always been drawn to abandoned places, there is a tragic beauty in the slow decay and the secrets they hold, have done my fair share of looking around, there are so many around here. Also love looking up the history.
Thanks chloe. You should definitely get out and explore. Just be safe about it.
Porch area good place for coffee in the mornings 😊
I loved the front porch.
I always enjoy your abandoned home videos. Especially favor the still photos at the end of your TH-cam. My favorite was the pic of the staircase.
I love a metal roof! My house is over 150 years old and has a metal roof. Amazing when it rains.
Metal roofs are the best. You never have to replace them. Which is why I have a metal roof on my house.
@@snickers2877 Very relaxing. Here is an example th-cam.com/video/wJ9RgW8MrKA/w-d-xo.html
I bet it was once a nice family home. Safe to see it this way.
Probably moved when the traffic got worse and noisier
Yeah - good lord, that's louder than Manhattan.
That house definitely has character and I'd love to restore that. Besutiful!
Love your abandoned home explores,so easy to listen too. Keep them coming!
You got it alice!
Surprisingly that house is in fairly good shape for being open and abandoned. I love it...especially that old sink.
Love the old fashion screen door, so many fireplaces, lay out overall! TY!
What an absolutely gorgeous old home!
It does look like a slasher house. Greetings from Texas. Watch out for that room with the meat hook. It's a shame somebody could come in and remodel that home and make it really nice. Too bad it's next to that loud highway
I don't know if you noticed it but the first bedroom that you walked into had a beautiful painted border on the floor, faded but beautiful. Fireplaces in every room indicate that the house is at least a hundred years old. Those porches are lovely. Thank you JP for another great find.
since that newspaper that you read was from Virginia that house may have been a plantation a long time ago
Welch, West Virginia newspaper. Welch, West Virginia is located in McDowell County in southern part of state.
So amazing to see all the decay but then see the curtains very aged and genuine love it
That would be a home I would want to make over and live in.
Wow I love the timber and tongue and grove walls
Another awesome video! Keep up the great work!

Very cool!! Looks like an old plantation house. I used to work with someone that was from Welch West Virginia. Thanks JP for the tour of this beautiful old home 👍🏻❤️
You're welcome cindy
I used to live in welch w va, on Tom's mt.
Sounds like the interstate highway was built right next to the house. They had no choice but to leave. Nice old features, was great house at one time. Thanks 🇨🇦
Highways have encroached on us, actually are still doing so with newer neighborhoods now, in the southeast to the point we seldom leave due to it. Most likely the land was divided up to younger generations who built their homes nearby and one of the descendants who farms the land keeps a fairly watchful eye on the house now and then, judging by minimal mischief by vandals. Often even when the last generation to live in a home has passed on the "old family place" it's often called is in this condition, most furniture etc removed and this would be typical, but what is great is the condition due to a very well built metal roof. I'm not sure about other areas of the country but there was a conscious choice here, it's a limbo of abandoned but still family owned unless it is an anomaly in the area. When they are truly left behind the overgrowth of vegetation overtakes the house itself. Nature reclaims quickly and mercilessly here in the South, among families that don't want to lose the "homeplace" as we call it there's usually a bush hog on a tractor that clears directly around the house every couple years as needed just to keep trees and vines from growing right into the house. This is a great one, love it definitely 1800s.
@@TarynsTime That one room he showed it looked like the bush or tree outside the window was growing inside the house though.
People can be a little nostalgic about places they grew up it too, filled with memories for them. Here in Canada we can’t take down old barns, we actually have to wait until they collapse. Don’t think that applies to old houses though.
@@CheapestGamer given a couple months of our summer weather it may be and the grass weeds and new seedlings of trees grow swiftly. I tend to think it's had some version of minimal clearing right around the house such as a few passes around with a bush hog because every outside image of the house looks accessible. These clearings aren't yardwork and typically once a year or so, depending on the family. This is such a common thing, mostly in rural areas but the house itself is not, it is a terrific find in this good condition.
@@staceyhildenbrand4743 ummm I live in Canada and my husband's job is demolishing old barns....what makes you think your not allowed to?!?
Another great road side find, and once again I am imagining what it would have been like when it was first built. The family life, the Woking farm. Thanks again JP, another winner for me. Maria 👍🇬🇧😁
I love the old Farmhouse I remember living in one I used to live in Virginia in Ashland and we had pain right in front of the house in an outhouse when never had a bathroom great video love it that house could be fixed up and you lived in

Oh what a beauty that house was once. Your in my area. Cool. The walls are different going to the back of the house. Lathe and plaster to wood walls. I'm going to say that the front of the house was added to the older structure. I didn't see a bathroom in that house.
Outhouse-
What a beautiful find!
It’s absolutely beautiful, how are you doing Jaime I hope you’re safe from the virus?
When I was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey I had an apartment in a house from the Revolutionary War times that was built like that house. The low windows, wide base boards and the other home on the same street is from the same time period. Has very steep stairs buildt in hidden cubards. Both homes had ghosts there that's why I had to leave the 1st bigger home I was in. When I moved out because I couldn't afford the rent without a room mate I moved to the house down the street where I lived in the upper part.
I'd be watching tv and the locked door would open, this happened a few times. After the 3rd or so time I shut the door and happened to look out the window and the house across the street had just caught on fire ! I thanked whatever sprites and called the Fire Department.
Then when my land Lord called and said my rent was going up I said I'd have to move then heard a banging on the wall and followed it where it showed a small closet space I didn't know was there and there and it had been slightly damaged because of a fire.
I told the land lord I'd have to tell the Fire Department about it and in short the land lord LOWERED my rent. I hung up the phone (This was in the 1970's) and thanked the sprites. I really hated to move out of there when I was being sent to Germany.
But Jay, I really believe that wonderful old home is from maybe the late 1700's or very early 1800's. Maybe if there is a Court House or library they may have land records or maybe a funeral home that's been around a long time could give you some history of the home, that's what I would do. It's a shame that it seems like a major highway is about on top of the house. At one time I'll bet the house had alot of land.
Thanks Jay for showing this nice home. I wish it could be saved.
Thanks so much for sharing that with me.
@@JPVideos81 You are welcome. Thank you for shareing your time and talents with us.

So never ending noise does not bother you ?
@@bextar6365 you get used to it, plus cedar trees could be planted to act as a noise buffer.
This house is empty because of the interstate and the noise will only get worse over time.
The noise could actually go away if everyone bought an electric car. Gotta love the sound of silence. I'll nvr buy one, but everyone else should. Its noisy where I live too.
Hear hear!!
Thanks a million JP for liking my comments. More power and prosperity for your undertakings and, God bless 😇 you. Love your videos .
JP,
Not ,well hardly, vandalized. Well cleaned out and generally in salvageable condition.
WE had a farmhouse somewhat similar built at the turn of the 20th century, with lathe and plaster and nice detailing, but this one is better.
I would hazard a guess that relatives of the owners or the owners family are still in the area,, after all ,it's only been abandoned for about forty years
Are there any towns near buy with old diners or general stores? Possibly a town hall?
I know you don't have time to investigate, probably pretty tired after that awesome Disney Adventure,.
Thanks for a really interesting and thought provoking video,
I,m so tired of seeing lots of things left behind , going to ruin.

Yah I said exact same thing... I've seen the original house ..I also thought it kinda looks like house from remake but looking again i knew it wasn't. This is my favorite of your older abandoned home videos so far. Your work is always great, but I thank you for taking the time and effort to get to this one, it's condition is amazing. I was going to mention the good roof but you pointed it out. This is a great example of how well built homes of the 1800s were, and what a sound roof and very minimal vandalism can do to preserve a home. I loved every detail, and I know lacking mold and mildew had to be a welcomed thing when you explored there. Welcome to my neck of the woods, if you hit I 95 since you were headed to FL you passed within miles of a similar homes I've explored though I find the 2nd floor porch very rare especially in such great condition, I'm very fond of this house for more reasons than I can list here. Being there yourself to admire the woodwork, the mantles not missing and the layout of the house unaltered from the original had to be great. As another commenter said, I agree, it's definitely 1800s. A rural gem.
Thanks for watching and commenting
Can't say for sure but by the roof lines and pitch I'd guess it was all built at the same time
