Probably one of my favorite depictions of mental illness, its not like you "go crazy" or something, the world just stops working right and you try to cope
A year ago, I heard this song on Spotify on my Google Home. I asked the assistant what song it was, but it misheard me and stopped playing. I tried everything I could think of to figure out what song it was, or who it was by, but nothing worked. It was simply gone for year, until today when Spotify finally deigned to play it for me again on an autoplay stream! The song is still great, but the "journey" makes it even better.
I've had that sooo many times. Hearing something on the radio but need to get out of the car because I'm at work or trying to remember a song from your childhood. It's great when you finally find it.
I’ve been on a similar journey . It plays at work every day but the sound system is not very loud . I like the song but I could not get even one sentence out of the song to google it. Finally found it !
To me, it’s about being stuck in a repetition in your life, knowing you should be happy, but can’t escape the existential dread. Maybe he’s accepted this as being normal or maybe he’s still figuring out how to navigate it. Imagine finally realizing your dreams only to learn there is an entirely new litany of unexpected annoyances to deal with, and if you don’t, you’re “an asshole who is jaded and lacks appreciation”
This man is one of our most gifted story tellers, period. I one day want to thank him for how much honesty he brings to his music. Also this is the best music video I’ve ever seen.
Intriguing storyline to the song. Looks like it keeps going on and on. Almost like the millennial's version of the Eagles 'Hotel California". Great song, excellent video! Good job Father John!
@@brandonmassey2968 it’s called a psychotic bender, that resulted in leaving his hotel room in shambles. I replicated this song two weeks ago at the langham hotel in Pasadena. Only incurred 20k in damages to the room. It was epic while it lasted, but now im shit out of luck. It’s a cautionary tale
One of these songs that you kind of totally like...immediately. Great melody. Great lyrics. Great video. It's a bit dark and gloomy but jeez, so good to listen to. I discovered this song yesterday by chance and I already put it in my "all time favourite songs". Good job Mr. Tillman, good to listen to you again.
Jared Friedman I know, poor Josh! I’ll admit I’ve listened to the whole thing and it’s Damn Amazing. His lyricism is next level! Of course, I’ve already pre-ordered a physical copy cause I need that in my collection!
This is how I feel. I don’t want to die and I’m not suicidal but my life feels repetitive. I wouldn’t care if I died but I’m not going to go out of my way to cause it. I’m not happy, I’m not exactly sad. Not content, just the same. Just existing. Floating through time, to pass time I guess.
Alyssa Brumley I understand. I’m only 21 but I’ve realized, we have no control over any of this, right? Not to sound preachy but Mac Miller said, “I can’t understand nothin’ no more If I jump let me fall” Listen to Colors n Shapes by him if you haven’t. Please just hold on. We have no control either way, find joy
789 I just turned 20 in August. I love Mac! I’ll go listen. If I knew when I was 16 and suicidal that my life would be like this at 20, I would’ve been long gone by now.
Alyssa Brumley I’m back!! lol, Mac’s family/friends released his first posthumous song yesterday. “Good News” January 17th, “Circles”, full project. Apparently, almost completed by him. Finished by a good friend. Check his socials for details if you didn’t already know I hope you’re doing alright btw
And here it is 5714 S Soto St Huntington Park, California .. I notice someone else came to the same conclusion. This address was mixed with CGI and shots of the model. A fantastic video. There is a set construction company at this address (AVG sets) which maybe how it got picked. Really cool architecture.
Mr. Tillman, good to see you again There's a few outstanding charges just before we check you in Let's see here, you left your passport in the mini fridge And the message with the desk says here the picture isn't his And oh, just a reminder about our policy: Don't leave your mattress in the rain if you sleep on the balcony Okay, did you and your guests have a pleasant stay? What a beautiful tattoo that young man had on his face And, oh, will you need a driver out to Philly? Jason Isbell's here as well and he seemed a little worried about you I'm feeling good, damn, I'm feeling so fine I'm living on a cloud above an island in my mind Oh, baby, don't be alarmed, this is just my vibe No need to walk around, no, it's not too bad a climb Mr. Tillman, for the seventh time We have no knowledge of a film that is being shot outside Those aren't extras in a movie; they're our clientele No, they aren't running lines and they aren't exactly thrilled Would you like a regalo on the patio? I love this song ! I listen to it 3 - 11 times a day ! It is good for, -> Remember those songs that used to play in my head ? Well they are just isbells to him . So sorry I have such a hard , Life !
This song is about the Movie "Hangeover" the lyrics describe everything that happens in that movie all the way from the mattress being left outside to Mike Tyson's fascial tattoo
Wow, great video. I think traveling and touring just might be taking it’s toll on Mr. Tillman. From the message I’m taking from this video, he might just need some time to decompress at home with his lovey lady. Just a quick hiatus away from the hotels and the road to feel like himself again before the madness that’s involved with releasing his new material because everyone is going to love it and want more, more, more from Mr. Tillman, which could get very exhausting very quickly. Take care of yourself Mr. Tillman, we love you.
I first heard this little ditty when Father John Misty made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and instantaneously fell in love with him. I've since listened to more of his catalog of music and haven't regretted it single song. Mich love and best wishes for your career!😍
Jesus Christ, man. You just dredged up my deepest, darkest & most dormant, metaphysical, Level 5, 'shroom induced, ego-death memories in the most shockingly & explosively abrupt backflashes!!! Damn, Josh... i love the way your mind fucks with my mind... in all the best ways. Gonna go drop an extra dose of Gaba & 5-HTP now. Thanks for the hell ride, can't wait to see you again live this summer!
Probably one of my favorite depictions of mental illness, its not like you "go crazy" or something, the world just stops working right and you try to cope
went to a concert of his, started Mr Tillman with “This song is about being on too much acid” or something like that
Are you saying I’m mentally ill just because I’ve done most of this stuff while on work trips?
Yep 👍

Welcome
And you learned it’s actually about the friends you made along the way.
I've had that sooo many times. Hearing something on the radio but need to get out of the car because I'm at work or trying to remember a song from your childhood. It's great when you finally find it.
That's the worst.. I remember back in the day when there was no Shazam and you could hear a song you loved on the radio and never hear it again
I’ve been on a similar journey . It plays at work every day but the sound system is not very loud . I like the song but I could not get even one sentence out of the song to google it. Finally found it !
This is not a music videoclip. This is an amazing short film with an amazing soundtrack.
I'm excited for the day Father John Misty makes a musical.
I don't like musicals often. This is one I would watch, no doubt. Please do Mr. Tillman!
I thought this was a musical.
oh boy have you seen his newest videos LMAO
Fun fact: The Mint hotel in Las Vegas was where Hunter S Thompson spent his 1st night in Fear & Loathing.
I have always loved the smell of an old Motel especially along the Beaches of NC.
I am so so so besotted with Father John. Unique and fabulous is he.
From a charismatic drummer to one of the best contemporary artists, J. Tillman is going to be huge.
he was always huge....a huge doosh
I'd say after nearly 2 million views, you'd be right.

Wow, I think you hit the nail on the head! This is also how I feel about life at times.
Now THAT was amazing.
ARTV Josh Tillman is such a legend!
Naw dude. It’s actually uninspired horseshit that sounds like a million other pieces of uninspired horseshit. Really God awful
Alex Clark You’re uninspired horseshit.
I love seeing Jon occasionally pop up on music that I'm listening to. Lol
You're right

All day long the phrase "regalo on the patio" was stuck in my head. Googled it and came here. Such a great song & album.
Mr. Tillman good to see you again
Frederick Core good to see you too sir, I'm a Mr Tillman as well 😎
Why doesn't this have a 10 million views
Josh Tillman is like the kooky hermit who knows all about the ghost or evil in horror films.
Al Windsor I suppose that's better than being a hooky kermit
Max Van Westerop i dont think i like that imagine in my mind.. poor kermit

This world is in dire need of more metaphysical musicians. One of the best music videos that i’ve seen in a LONG time. Bravo Johnny boy, bravo.

Well that was friggin awesome.
This song is amazing literally a visual acid trip
Wow I love this candid documentary
I’ve done most of these things while traveling. It’s remarkably accurate actually.
I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy, but I really admire Mr. Tillman's sense of style.
A music video that adds something to the artistic meaning of the song? Have I gone back in time?
This is one of the best music videos I've ever seen. Like something Andy Kaufman would write and definetily listen to.
I typically hate videos, but that was REALLY interesting! I love the Father.
Best melodies and dance moves. That'll do.
wow this is like watching a dream.... incredible
Im feeling good damn I'm feeling fine I'm living in a cloud on an island in my mind
Wow,cool song and this video is a trip
Literally just saw Mr. Tilman perform in Philly, Jason Isbel was there aswell.
Perfect tune. Perfect video to realise the lyric. GFC is a masterful album.
Wow. Just came across this guy's work. That's...
It's about time someone made a really good video to go with their music. Well done FJM.
If there is any justice in this world this guy would be a lot more recognised & lauded than what he is. We get it & are digging it in the UK! 👍
I'm related to SOOO many Mr. Tillmans
This song found me today.
Just saw him with Jason Isbell in Detroit this week. Automatic fan of this guy. Sooooo good.
Was Jason Isbell worried about him?

Seems to me like a man who has found himself in purgatory, cursed to relive the moment that led him there. Love seeing all the different takes though.
Usually I despise whistling in a song, but he’s even got that part right (in tune)!
