8:50 use wire strands for the pinion, I used to do this with tiny planes and helicopters when I had 1mm pinion hole and 0.7mm shaft. The method is thus.. 1. Pull some strands out of a multi strand wire. 2. Feed it through the hole and between two teeth, straight over one end, between another two teeth, this will give two strands in the hole opposite each other. 3. repeat the above till you have a minimum of 3 strands, or 4 or more. 4. Push fit the motor onto the shaft. 5. Cut all strands that go over the end that faces away from the motor. 6. Use tiny side cutters or toe nail scissors to cut down the sides of the pinion so that they don't foul the gear.
@@TomleyRC no problem, it worked great on little plastic pinions, it would be interesting to see if it can hold the torque, maybe the wire strands with glue.
Phil - yet again you´ve surpassed yourself! The ingenuity required to build both the crawler and this drift D12 in such quick succession is impressive. I like your solution to the sticky-out front wheels and your gearbox hack. As for the montage...JDM chic!
Thank you Del. I had a 1hr window in the weather to get the action shots! About 10 min after I stopped recording it went overcast and rained all day lol. Perfect timing!
Squeeze the shaft (looks at camera) several times with some pliers to distort/make ridges in the metal, all the little raised areas will make a tighter fit then use some jbweld or red loctite and it should stay put.
You have talent mate, you are good at what you do. I just got mine delivered on the porch tonight and it’s worth the money in the first 5 min. Polished concrete (the garage). You should 3D print those wheels because you have customers in queue. The dog outside the fence is my dog without the fence lol. I’m impressed with the fun vs cost and I’m mad at you cus now I’m gonna make something cheap expensive again. Cheers!
Got one of these on its way, I think I'll 3D up some custom wheels for it. Not sure what I'll do for tyres as I'm primarily a 1/24 static model car builder.. But I'm sure I'll think of something! Cant wait to dive in to RC stuff!
i love the video! gonna get me one of these now! word of advice tho this gyro is not suitable for a drift build u have to get something like an AFRC. massive difference

Pretty fantastic work, dude! Looks great! 😃 About the motor mount and gearbox... There should be a better way! But who knows, maybe WPL can create something! 😃 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I do enjoy your vids and watch when I can. Normally binge watch lol. But 6 adverts before the half way mark! I know that's how you make a bit of cash from the vids and need that to keep up with demand but they get so frustrating when they are every 2 minutes of video
Daniel, here's a screen shot of the mid role Ad's ... I only ever put 1 or 2 in. So 6 Ad's seems a bit extreme. But remember TH-cam will always show you an advert at the start... so I'm guess they are doing 'double ads' on this. But rest assured, I don't spam ads on my Videos as it ruins the watch time. prnt.sc/ve95ey
@@TomleyRC oh I know TH-cam put in the ads at the start and it wasn't a major digg at you either. That's awesome!! The D12 Facebook group have some wild builds, and this is up there with the best. Love the name, by the way. Hooni-Kei. I wonder where you got that from?!! 🤔😁👍🏻
For the pinion, green loctite. It's a bearing retainer, designed to secure the ID of bearings to a shaft. Some smaller models, helicopters specifically, use it for the pinion.
Now then t.g have you seen the price on banggood £50 now was around 42 when it came out weren't it but on wpl site its 37 but says its the china version dint know there were 2 versions did you and do you know the difference
Yes price fluctuates quite a bit. As for the 'China' edition, I think they have an International one coming. Not sure when, but I have seen some 'blueprints' and it looms cool!
she's spinny, try moving the battery to the middle of the bed will put some weight to the fronts so they steer a bit more. I used large heat shrink on stock rear tires here and fronts are same stock, is showing promise but it needs a faster 280 motor to make it happen better. stock radio gear is glitchy JUNK unfortunately.
Awesome! I just love the little low budget builds, that's what it's all about! Duck the haters, and keep on drifting! 👍
