Your thumbnails catch my eye 98% of the time.. The design, painted color choice and matching natural wood is just right - for me.
I’m in Scandinavia, and I’m a bit surprised that you do this style in the US. Now you know, it’s just to move over and you’ll immediately be “home” 😅
Thank you! I always try to keep my thumbnails simple even though it’s not usually the popular choice from what I’ve noticed. I love Scandinavian style-and you’re right. It’s not very common over here. I’ve always wanted to visit. Hopefully one day I’ll make it over there to see the real deal!
Love the clean lines.
The best i have seen in the cabinet building videos on TH-cam
This is the best cabinet builders guide I've seen. Some neat experience-driven tricks too, such as holding down your pencil at the line and then butt up the speed square against it. Or the tongue technique with the router is brilliant. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
As an amateur woodworker, I really appreciate this construction style. I made four base cabinets in the summer. Three of them I used dados and rabbits cut using my track saw. The last one was made the same way you have here with pocket holes and butt joints.
Once they were tied together, there is zero difference in strength for practical use cases. If something is going to crush two pieces of plywood stacked 1.5” thick and supported by arches and buttresses, and tied into your wall studs…. you probably needed a steel frame anyway. I get it for stand alone pieces like drawers, a hutch, a dresser, etc. I don’t think we really need it for things being supported in part by the building itself.
Recently I was adding pull out drawers to my professionally installed kitchen cabinets. Ya know how they made those? Butt joints and pocket hole screws. They’ve stood the test of time for a decade and the only things wearing out are the undermount drawer slides.
Thanks for the guide.
I'm always impressed with your design and cabinet building skills, but this time I'm even more impressed with the way you woman handled that piece of 3/4" plywood into your shop. Wow, Supergirl. I have a set of cabinets to build this summer and have already saved this video to use as my guide. Thanks.
Yes, it weighs too much for me!
Thank you! If you leverage the plywood just right, it's not too bad to move around haha.
I hope this video is helpful when you start your project! Happy building!
Same idea here. I did use her build drawer guide a couple years ago, did custom closet organizer, only ikea cabinets were not available, so I also built my own.
Beautiful cabinets Shara, I love it! I love that tongue and groove trick with the router!
Thank you so much! I tried cutting the tongue and groove both on the table saw, but it was taking forever. Cutting it with the router was MUCH faster (and cleaner!).
I especially like that open shelf cabinet on the left side! Seems like it could be very convenient for certain things.
Thank you! It'll make more sense why I made it that way once it's installed in the laundry room. But an open shelf cabinet is a really great way to add some super simple storage anywhere you need.
The timing of this video could not have been more perfect. I’m building my first full cabinets this month and there are definitely a bunch of mistakes I would have made.
Ok, the drying rack as a drawer is a clever idea. Neat. Not sure it's required for everyone, but what a great idea when your space demands certain efficiencies.
I'm about to embark on building my kitchen. This video has been invaluable as everything is explained clearly and highlighted areas I hadn't thought of. Excellent.
You make it look so easy. Nice job! Great idea with the drying rack. 👏
So satisfying to see how perfect the drawer boxes fit into the cabinet!
Well, you sure make that look easy! Thanks
OMG, first time seeing one of your videos. I’m now a subscriber and look forward to watching the rest of your videos. You were straightforward and kept it simple. Using affordable tools most of us have or should. Admitting mistakes and always reminding us of slightly different approaches as well. Great job and thank you for taking the time to guide and share.
Thanks, Shara. I'm fixing to make drawers for my daughters' vanities. Very timely!
Love how these cabinets turned out and can't wait to see them installed in your laundry room! So sorry you didn't like the color and ended up painting them twice as I know that is a job you don't care for! It's worth the effort to be happy with the final color though. You'll enjoy them for many years to come. Thanks for another great video with excellent instructions!!!
Awesome work! You make it look so seamless and effortless
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
You explain really well, you go slow enough for others to follow and your end results are amazing! I'm really glad I've found your channel, you give me confidence to attempt these myself. Thank you for what you do! 🌟
I love how you made these simply and they look amazing. Everyone else online wants to do all these dados and other complicated techniques. You made it look so easy and the end result is oerfext
Young lady you are truly a marvel. I so enjoyed watching you so carefully build those cabinets . I have done a lot of renovations on houses that I bough but never had the
moxie to talk on cabinets. The dryer dower was an excellent idea. …
I am now in my 90s it is so good to see you youngsters take on these skills , they add
so much to your quality of life they also add financial stability because it is in your hands…. Good job . Enjoy your cabinets ❤😊😊😊
That was interesting how you cut the tongues for the rails, not seen that way before on TH-cam. Will definitely give your technique a go. Thanks!
Thank you so so so much for sharing the rule of thumb dimensions 🙏
HEY BUBBY!!! Hi. Very simple project, but also a touch of glamor too. Thanks for the project.
Bubs says "hello!" Haha. Thanks so much for watching--I really appreciate it! Have a wonderful weekend!
Shara, another detailed build! Your instructions get better with each build you do. It seems that there is an endless amount of details to learn and practice. You’re always one step ahead of me! I need to build a new set of cabinets for my getaway mountain house. Thanks for these ideas and I’ll definitely use a set of your plans when I’m ready to start. Thanks again and I’m glad Bubs was there early to supervise your introduction! lol…. Take care and keep on building?
Hi! So happy you enjoyed the video! Bubs is always around when I'm trying to film a "talk to camera" part 😂 He kept meowing in the background and I had to keep starting over haha! He makes me laugh. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and happy building!
PS I'm so jealous you have a getaway mountain house! An escape to the mountains is always nice every now and then!
Shara, you're "spot on" for this household (and probably many others) as the weather seems to be breaking a bit and I've been thinking about increasing our storage space with some additional kitchen cabinets for at least this entire winter and maybe even longer. I love the modular style and look forward to using it soon. It's nice to watch a basic basic video about cabinet building and I for one appreciate this. Thanks to you and Bubby. Thanks for Sharing!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it :) and also glad to hear the weather is breaking a bit your way. It was a pretty nice week here and we finally got some sunshine. I have a feeling it'll be an early spring and I'm here for it!
Bubs says thanks for watching haha! Have a great weekend and happy building!
What a joy. Extra treat for Bubs!@@WoodshopDiaries
Gurl! You done it again. Got my eyes on this plan with an update to that drying rack idea. Add in a heated towel rack! You so good Shara. Keep it up
So glad you enjoyed it! A heated towel rack sounds amazing! So fancy 😎
I truly appreciate you watching and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thank for your channel. Just found it and it is what I needed to build my own cabinets. Bless you!
Have you ever done any kind of FAQ video? I’d love to know your background and how you got into building! You and Tamar (3x3 Custom) are super inspiring to me as a woman getting into woodworking 🥰
Hi! Tamar is amazing! I have a FAQ video here: Answering 21 of the Most Asked Questions--Come Chat with Me!
th-cam.com/video/l3qLL4vekow/w-d-xo.html
Tamar is in a league of her own. She’s a “renaissance” woodworker - multitalented: A thinker, a designer, an engineer, and a builder.
That tutorial was clear and paced so well that I may be fooling myself into thinking I should try this in an upcoming reno. (Probably not though. But watching you do it - and the excellent graphics you used to explain your alternatives! - are super helpful regardless) Thank you!
was it a tutorial?
Your video is truly amazing ! Thank you
I am always satisfied after watching your videos and as a result I have bought several plans from you. Once I start to replicate the builds I know I can always come back to the videos as a kind of tutorial to the plans I purchased. Thank you for the detail you put into the videos they always help. I hope more subscribers feel as I do. Thanks Shara
Thank you so much for your support of my small business! I truly hope you find the videos a helpful addition to the plans. It's mostly why I make them :) I appreciate you following along and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Happy building!
Simple yet nice work's
Everything is ok ... when you see coach kitty is on the spot and in charge!!! 🐱
Haha! The weather was finally nice out while I was working on these, so he was out and about most of the build and didn't hang out. But of course, as soon as I film a "talk to camera" piece, he made his way in the frame ha! He's definitely the one in charge around here.
Love the final paint color - I hope that is the color you kept. You inspired me!!! Love it all.
Dust collection works well! Great job!
Absolutely beautiful.
Amazing job, congrats!
I love how these came out!
Great job they look great
Great work.

Excellent tutorial!
so dope, well done and you made it look really easy.
Amazing work! Love the design. Thank you.
Those cabinets look elegant. I'm so eager to do woodworking, and this was an inspiration.
You made it look so simple. Amazing job
Very impressive and inspirational.
Well done as always Ms. Shara. The drying rack drawer is a neat idea I have never seen before. 👍
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! I was trying to think of some unique ideas for the laundry room. I figured it would be nice to "hide" the drying rack when not in use!

Good job I like your presentation. No fluff just practical tips for easy assembly!
10:35 this is probably the BEST setup I’ve seen to make shaker doors!! I’ll be tackling this project soon and I just wanted to say thank you for the tip! All the other videos I’ve watched have you running them through a table saw on multiple passes.
Very very impressive!
You're amazing! I love these videos
From your tool setups to the construction methods…what a great video…thanks! You make it look so easy.
Really amazing work, Shara! They look amazing! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and following along :) Hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend!
The cabinets look great and I like the finale color! You do very good work and I always like your designs. Thanks for sharing this.

Another great build and video...
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Well done my sister, the cabinet looks great and I like the final work .
Girl, I'm speechless! First time seeing you and you left me without words. You have new subscriber...
Your the best. Thanks a ton.
The cabinets looks great and love the paint color. It appeared darker in color in your shop but looks lighter in the laundry room. Can’t wait to see everything you do in the laundry room once it is complete!
Hi! Thank you! Yes the original (first) color I painted them was darker. I repainted them a lighter color because I wasn’t loving the first one. They’re still in my shop in the video :) I’ll share them in the laundry room soon!
Great stuff.
This was a good build. You did a great job. I especially like the drying rack that you installed. Looking forward to seeing the installation.
Thank you so much! I can't wait to share these in the finished laundry room soon!
Thank you for the inspiration I am going to give this a go
As always, fantastic job. Excellent cabinet.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Shara you have the coolest projects and videos! You inspire us new to woodworking folks to try making great things!
Great video! Very good instruction on how to get these made.
I saw a video recently that the toe kick was used as a drawer space, pretty good idea!
I had to watch the first two minutes of this video 3 times!! I wasn’t listening, I was watching Bubs check you out and take in all the information!!😂😂 tell Bubby I said Pss Pss Pss 🐈
Love watching your video’s….your explanations are so easy to follow and I like that you build things everyone would use and give it a try to build…
It's amazing to see you're still using your rip cut. It bought one after watching some of your videos. Haven't used it in a long while 😅
I’d be lost without it! I use it almost every project!
Love the video!
Very helpful and informative. Thanks.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
This was an awesome cabinet video. I really liked your style of explaining why you made the choices you did and some other options that could be used. Subscribed!
Me gusta tu trabajo, limpio y profesional, felicidades, saludos desde México!!!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching!
Excellent video and build again! 👌🏴🇬🇧
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching!
@@WoodshopDiaries thanks you're very welcome
Wow...this was so inspiring and empowering! Thank you for taking the time to make this video and for showing how we gals can manhandle wood with the best of 'em. Your cabinets came out fantastic!!
I love this layout. This came along at the right time. My sister-in-law want me to build her a kitchen island. So! this will work out beautifully. The only difference I'll have to do the back different because it'll be used as a eat in bar. It'll be 24"DX32"HX 48"L. Thanks!
Well done Shara. I love the choice you made for the cabinet paint, because I’m on to day two building cabinets with drawers for my new wood shop. I was considering painting them and yours turned out so well I think I will. 🌻
I have never seen this method of routing the tongue portion and I love it! I've been going through the hassle of mounting my router in a table, but I hate storing the table since I literally only use it for this purpose. I'm going to try your method and use that storage space for something else haha.
Chalk up another great build...really enjoyed your video!
I really appreciate you watching! Happy building and have a great weekend!
Great video! And timely, as I am about to build some pantry cabinets. My laundry room will follow at some point.
Awesome! I hope this was helpful! Happy building!
Good morning Shara!
I absolutely could watch your videos for hours on end! 💯 Please don't think I'm crazy 🤪 I truly love wood working and specifically, DIY wood working to renovate my home. I am stumped and would genuinely love some advise.
Here's my situation:
I'm taking an existing bathroom vanity that has 2 cabinet door sections (1 is under the plumbing and the 2nd half is on the other side). I've taken the non-plumbed side and installed a wall between the 2 halves so that I can build drawers. Seemed pretty simple to me & logical, tbh. It's a small bathroom (1970's home) and we need the drawer space. I measured the space to determine how many drawers I installed. I built 3 drawers (yes, I watched your drawer installation video😉) and made my drawer boxes. The trouble I've run in to is, even though I triple measure the length and width, I don't think I'm square and when I go to slide the drawer boxes, they fall off the slider.
Can you give me some trouble-shooting questions/suggestions to help?
As is stands, I'm frustrated and ready to throw in the towel! 🤯💔
Working on an existing vanity to build/install drawers is a pain in the butt! I've recently had the idea of building an insert that I can build the drawer slides to but that seems redundant.
How would you tackle this?
Ps: I want to build a wall of base depth cabinet & drawers for my kitchen, that surround my fridge and that is a MUCH bigger project but first, I have to get this issue resolved. I REFUSE DEFEAT! #hardheaded #determinedwoman 🤓💪😂🤣👍
Love it !
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching!
Love this! I too do not use wood glue. Mainly b/c if I mess up and need to adjust, I can b/c it's just a matter of unscrewing. With the wood glue, once it dries, it's hard to remove any pieces without damaging the wood. Therefore, costing more...
Wait, you called that basic? That is some good stuff beyond just basic. Thanks for the explanation.
Noticed lately you been using your game on adding little details to your furniture and face frames on your cabinets
Great job
Thank you! I usually prefer frameless cabinets. But I thought I'd try something different this time and do face frames. I does save a lot of time not having to edge band so much 😂 So I may do it more often now haha!
Great video, thank you
Thank you so much for watching! Hope it was helpful :)
Another great looking project and very much useful. You always make things look simple, but I'm sure it's not to beginners. Love the awesome cabinets and color. I always use Sherman Williams paint also. Always look forward to your Saturday vides. Have a great weekend Shara. Steve
Excelent tutorial - straightforward and comprehensive ✨ Kreg must have loved it as well!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
I doubt kreg has seen it since it wasn’t sponsored 😅 but if they do, I hope they enjoy it as well!
Thank you for sharing this video came on time, I was looking for videos to build the exact same cabinets thank you again
Awesome! I hope this helps! Happy building 🔨🔨
@@WoodshopDiaries thank you 😊 0
Très joli travail bravo, une technique de fabrication relativement simple et très bien expliquée,merci,à bientôt salut Jeannot 🛠😉
Epic build as always Shara! I'm never much of a fan of painting cabinets or wood in general. But I would be lying if I said that finished color didn't speak to me.
