My mom just gave me the analogy that if depression is being adrift in the ocean and tossed around by the waves, then my okay periods are like me being able to surface and catch my breath for a moment. I can breathe, but I’m still in the ocean, and I need to get to shore because even if I’m a strong swimmer, being in the ocean for too long will tire anyone out and they’ll eventually sink and drown without help. That immediately made me think of this song. I need to send it to her in the morning.

I feel it’s maybe a little bit different because it kind of describes what I feel like I just went through and a relationship!, I feel like it’s a person that suffers depression, and they are telling their significant other and preparing them that they are going to a low spot or place in their life and to just hang out until they get through the season of sadness or depression?!?
