YES YES A YES YES YES YES! True, he's a fine defensive outfielder (despite his disastrous error in the World Series), but playing center is wearing out his big body and by season's end he has nothing left. At the very least he must go to left field in order to spare his body, but first place is the optimal solution. He's the Yankees' best hitter and his body needs to be preserved at all costs.
No, it's not because of the atypical error. It's to spare his big body from wearing out. He's the Yankees best hitter, and they must do everything possible to preserve his strength and energy.
I'd like to see Judge at 1st, but I think flexibility might become a problem since he's so tall and that could lead to nagging injuries. I think Juan Soto is a more suited to play first (similar to Bryce Harper), provided the Yankees re-sign him. If Soto does end up taking reps at first, then you can slot Judge in RF, Jasson at CF and whoever our next LF is.
Brian. Brian,,,,,my man you must it,,is the same that happened to Volpe,he didn't even played AAA ball, they out him on the hot stofe and he delivered, you where killing it for other players but back fired when it comes to Durbin,I would say this,,give him in the spring training the Fair chance,if he succeed the job is his, period,,,no second guessing here.
Brian is delusional. Top 10 alltime for Soto? Ruth, Mantle, Cobb, Mays, Williams Aaaron, Gehrig are top 7 - but Soto is marginal as a fielder - I could see Griffey Jr, Robinson, and DiMaggio easily ahead of Soto. I like Juan - but in 2022 - Soto ranked 242 out of 243 and a -20.8 DEF. Generational players do not have such awful seasons
I would absolutely move Judge to 1st base. Would lessen there wear and tear on his body and put a premium bat at a position where there are not too many available
If you want a player that's not great in 1b,you might as well play Ben Rice there. At least you still have a left handed bat. You will still get a weaker first basement, but at least you have a sample that he can do it. Though, he needs more work. As for Judge, move him back to RF, Dominguez can only play CF, which is annoying. Move Soto to left. This is the same reason why I don't like Peraza. He can only play the infield. He really only wants to play SS, but Volpe jumped over him. He begrudgingly plays 2b and 3b. We should trade him to get another pitcher. Should have done it already. Cashman keeps these players that won't ever play. Look at Spencer Jones, where is he playing if we re-sign Soto?
Volpe hasn't shown he plays any other position, they gave him the royal treatment by placing him permanently in SS even though he does not have the arm for that position.
I think if the Yankees resign Soto there is a very strong possibility of Durbin at 2nd..... Because Jazz has proven he can handle 3rd and that money can be used elsewhere like 1st .
You can not expressly state that Soto has a deadline because that could be construed as collusion or even tampering. But you definitely can have an internal trigger that would cause you to move off Soto be it him taking too long or his price reaching a ridiculous number.
Agreed. We all know Boras. Instead of ascertaining the bids from various teams, he just sets an arbitrary price and his player waits as long as necessary to get it. I think Boras is demanding at least $60 million for 15 years. Just the other day he openly implied he wants a 15 year contract.
No on judge at First Base, he should be in Centerfield, He is very good there, in Spite of the Error he made in the WS, The Martian is a very shaky outfielder, he should Just DH, No Cabrera in Left, Verdugo is a far better outfielder then Cabrera or The Martian , if Soto Stays, he should just stay in RF, he does not have the range for Centerfield. Keep Verdugo for LF
Judge in CF will eventually shorten his career. He is too big of a man to continually beat up his body in CF. Left or Right would definitely be my choice. We paid this man a mint to be productive as long as possible. CF will shorten that window
Agreed about his never playing CF again, but I would go further and remove him from the outfield altogether. He's the Yankees' best hitter, and his big body needs to spared wear and tear.
Let's stop putting Soto ahead of all time greats. I've been watching baseball since 1965 and I can make a list of 30 plus playethafrom then to now that were better players than Soto. Remember, being an all time great include fielding and there are probably 30 plus outfielders playing right now that are better than Soto. In six years Soto's not even a life time .300 hitter.
I think if the Yankees resign Soto there is a very strong possibility of Durbin at 2nd..... Because Jazz has proven he can handle 3rd and that money can be used elsewhere like 1st .
Omg! I completely forgot about fan mail Friday! I’ll be back on that next week!
Yes

Lord no! 1 drop and people are freaking out?? One of the best outfielders out there.

It's precisely because he's so big that he should not be forced to drain his body, so that by season's end he has nothing left.
What about ben rice at first?
How does using some other replacement for Rizzo preserve Judge?
@Brian McKeon love the show but the “ummms” are tough to get through

Soto is not a Generational Player! He is a Generation Player.
I agree Soto does not make top10 in my opinion. The fielding is too suspect
I think Soto is one of the best hitters of all time but his fielding is definitely an Achilles
He's by no means a butcher in the field, but fielding isn't one of his strengths.
I would absolutely move Judge to 1st base. Would lessen there wear and tear on his body and put a premium bat at a position where there are not too many available
Every year Judge wears down by season's end. This tells you that his big body should not be running the outfield.
If you want a player that's not great in 1b,you might as well play Ben Rice there. At least you still have a left handed bat. You will still get a weaker first basement, but at least you have a sample that he can do it. Though, he needs more work.

Agreed

I feel certain that Boras is demanding an insane price and will have Soto wait as long as necessary to get it. That has always been Boras's M.O.
Gil was electric and he still has not really learned how to pitch yet. Once he masters his craft he will be scary
extra 20 more years of Yankees without winning WS under helm of Boone.
By not giving Soto a date, they’ll lose their chance at everyone
Agreed. We all know Boras. Instead of ascertaining the bids from various teams, he just sets an arbitrary price and his player waits as long as necessary to get it. I think Boras is demanding at least $60 million for 15 years. Just the other day he openly implied he wants a 15 year contract.
NO
Agreed.
Should the Yankees make Judge a first baseman? Whatever. I think it would be better if they made him a player who doesn't choke in October.
The point isn't whether Judge is or isn't a good outfielder, but rather that it is wearing out his body unnecessarily.
When the Mets give Soto 700 million for 12 years, Judge will be back in rightfield.
If you can't sign soto ..Go out and get Anthony Standander!! Much better fielder..😔
No! I think that would be worse for his body.
Heck, no! Leave Judge in CF.
They already have too many players playing out of position so " no"!
I don't trust judge in first, he is not natural in that position like rizzo is. He shoukd be the RF and the DH once he can't field no more.
Let's stop putting Soto ahead of all time greats. I've been watching baseball since 1965 and I can make a list of 30 plus playethafrom then to now that were better players than Soto. 60 years of not paying attention. If he stays healthy, he most definitely will be.
I think if the Yankees resign Soto there is a very strong possibility of Durbin at 2nd..... Because Jazz has proven he can handle 3rd and that money can be used elsewhere like 1st .
