if i apply for a green card through marriage while on stemopt will uscis asks for my paystubs or taxfiling for the time i worked in usa? how much is the possibility?
quick questions : where are you originally from? Also did you get the conditional green card initially (which is for 2 years)? Or you got the 10 years green card? Also from your story, it seems like that the interview process was skipped from USCIS, right? BTW congratulations 😇🥳
Absolutely! The university I currently attend (Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville) has a ton of Indian and Pakistani students and I would say it's a safe place. It is close to St. Louis though which can be a sketchy area but there are so many incredible and safe cities in the US to choose from. America is a massive country with many different cultures and ethnicities so I would say there is definitely a place for everyone here. 😁
That is a great question and I wish I remembered the exact amount. I think we paid a little under $2,000 in total for the whole entire process (lawyer fees, filing fees, documents and original copies, and other miscellaneous costs). Going through simple citizen saved us thousands in expensive lawyer fees though! I hope this helps!
Is form I-864 affidavit of support not necessary to submit? My case is almost similar to yours i am still an international student my husband just graduated we just filed form I-130. Does he needs to fill the form I-864?
Great question! As soon as USCIS Chicago received our filing package on May 2nd is when they updated my USCIS case on their website for me to start tracking. So, it took 4 days from sending the package to getting notified that my case had been received and ready to track. Hope this helps!
I requested an English transcript of all my vaccines and immunizations from my doctor in my home country. I was missing one vaccine, though. So I went to my local Walgreens here in the US and got the vaccine + documentation of proof. It was a fairly simple process!☺
If u married us citizen on F1 visa but u are International athlete and you have to travel back home to train. can you apply for your green card back home without any problems.
You can travel as much as you want as long as you keep your F1 status while your green card is pending. I decided to drop my F1 status to work using my EAD. If you use your EAD, your F1 status will automatically be dropped and you cannot travel until you receive your green card. I hope this helps!
@@charlotteaprior well I just got my EAD card today. But I want to be back home to train because I am professional athlete now. My club is back home an that were I need to train to be able to make it to highest level of track and field. I was thinking going back home then in 2 or 4 months apply for my green card, but I am scared I get denied. If I leave without applying
@@charlotteapriorAre you still in school? If yes, how did they approve your EAD? Did you add any special documents? But if you've graduated, how will you advise someone who is still in school, married to a citizen, and needs an EAD? I heard it can be denied if you're in school unless you wait for your OPT. Please help!! Thank you
@@janedee2102 I am still in school! Getting the EAD approved was no issue at all for me. I simply sent in the request and received it shortly after. My immigration lawyer told me that if I choose to use my EAD (get a job), my student visa will no longer be valid. Meaning, my status in the country would change from "F1 student" to "green card applicant". This was an easy decision for me because I hated the limitations of my F1 student visa. However, I was not able to travel out of the country once my F1 status dropped because I had no way of getting back into the country. So I had to wait for either my travel authorization or my green card to come in before I could leave the country. So, to answer your question, I had no issue getting an EAD. The USCIS knew well that I was in school on an F1 student visa. I think USCIS has been giving out EADs to students much quicker in recent years because they want us to contribute to the economy while we wait for our green cards. So I actually think you being in school while applying for the EAD will help you get approved faster! I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!😁
I don’t know much about Houston in particular but college campuses tend to be safe and often have their own security guards and/or police offers on campus
It could look a little suspicious, but if you have a good explanation for it, it should be fine! The number one thing they care about is that you really love each other. So saying "I quit studying because we wanted to start a family" or something along those lines is completely acceptable!
Our interview actually got waived! We were super lucky that we didn't have to go in for an interview. Apparently, a lot of cases are getting their interviews waived right now.

Hi Charlotte, tysm for the really helpful video! Currently on F-1 OPT status, just filed I-130 yesterday for marriage-based AOS (my spouse is US citizen). I haven't filed any of the other forms yet including I-485 and I-765 primarily because we are traveling abroad soon to visit our family back home. Did you ever travel abroad during the process before you received your travel document? I get mixed answers as to whether I can "safely" travel abroad as long as my priority date for I-130 is not current, whatever that means exactly. TIA!
Hi! Since I filed everything at the same time, I was not able to travel. Our lawyer told me that if I used my work visa, my F1 status would no longer be valid which meant I could not travel. I ended up using my work visa so I lost my status. My lawyer explained to me that as soon as your F1 status is lost, you won't have any way of getting back into the US (can't use the I-20 or visa anymore). So I think as long as you're still valid with your F1 status, you should be able to travel and return to the US with your visa status. I wish you the best of luck!!
@@charlotteaprior aw tysm for such detailed response, you're the sweetest! When you say your work visa, do you mean your EAD card? I also am starting work in September and have received an EAD card. I am just wondering if my situation is the same as yours in the past. Thanks!
