I have not tried any dendrobiums. I would think that with the dried sheaths and sometimes seasonally leafless canes it would be hard to tell what was alive. Could some of the leafless canes be similar to cattleya back bulbs in that they continue to function for the overall plant? Thanks for sharing the journey with this one. :)
I know what you mean, it can get tricky sometimes! I was trying to feel the canes and the dead ones were all dried out and felt like hollow, so I was safe to remove them. But after I repotted it, it dropped a lit of leaves that were green during repot, so the plant has suffered from this repot... I'm sure it will recover soon, it's pushing out nice new growths 👍😊
