    This is really a great in-depth interview that showcases your insight of the world of aviation. A lot of interviewers just ask simple questions but you go for the inside information that most interviewers overlook or know very little about expecting the subject person to carry the interview. Fantastic job and having the ability to be able to interview such insightful people is another testament to your abilities to get the right people who will bring information to the aviation community that normally wouldn’t get such inside information! Great Great video!!! Thank you!

      Experimental Aircraft Channel - I’m a resent addition to your channel and watched your interview of Fred and his Outbound porch build and you kept reaching for information on his build. Your education in aviation allowed you to ask the questions that a home builder would need to know or want to know if they were thinking on building the Outbound in a limited amount of space. Also you were able to let Fred explain his decisions on why he decided to take delivery of each section of the build instead of the entire aircraft and not having to manage all the components during his build. I have build several aircraft and this step process is crucial for a first time builder because managing parts can be one of the builds major issues and will cause a loss of waisted time and create frustration for the builder. This is just a few of my observations during your interviews. I could go on further but just keep doing what you do and your channel will grow!

    I'd love to build an AirCam with two Edge Performance Epex engines. I bet it would beat Steve and the Pateys. It would probability need some structural improvements and changes to the wing though. Until they make classes for the racing I see no reason you can't. Draco was flying with the stock Kitfoxes. Maybe something like that DoubleEnder Cub thing that had some videos made of it a few years ago but with Epex engines. I'm not sure what ever happened to that plane. I'm sure you've seen the videos of it.

  • @rochboulanger6565

    "The cub guys say they lose like 8mph on cruise with these slats but I'm not seeing that...?" Says the guy with 300 horsepower strapped to the front of a 700 pound airplane. In hindsight, the extra 10 horses needed is only 3% power in this thing...so obviously not very noticeable lol. I want one so bad lol.

    What size trailer is Steve using? How much clearance does he have when he folds the wings up with the added slats? Now to rob a bank and go to Idaho!

    • @ExperimentalAircraftChannel
      @ExperimentalAircraftChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve's trailer is about 30' long. Interior is 98" wide. There was about 3" (+/-) clearance on the wings at either side. It fit very well. Don't go robbing a bank to feed your Aviation Passion now! :-) Thank you for watching and supporting here!

  • @portnuefflyer
    @portnuefflyer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really interesting to hear about the cruise speed loss, or lack of it, with the slats. But with the power to weight ratio Steve has, maybe it's there and he just doesn't notice?! Virtually every other aircraft owner with slats reports a loss in cruise speed, also a loss in climb performance. Again, that could be masked by the mucho power he has. I'm guessing the slats must be removed if ever hauled in a trailer.

    • @2Phast4Rocket
      @2Phast4Rocket 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the relative low speed where the Highlander operates, the loss of speed isn't as noticeable. The airplane is so draggy without the modification anyway.

      @@2Phast4Rocket Good point, that, and probably a bit more of that extra power he has and yes I can see where he can say they don't effect cruise speed, for him anyway.
