I'ma remove that softlock from the counter but NOW on top of the impractical solutions I think I am going to go out of my way to intentionally make every shrine I can become actually unbeatable(requiring a reset/warp and having to completely start over).
I already know how to break a small part of the story, I found it by accident. xD I'll leave it as a read more spoiler. Apparently, though, the game doesn't like it when you decide you're advancing the main story too quickly and break off to find adventure. . . . . . . . . . . . . If you go to Impa instead of speaking to Purah when she's fixing Skyview tower, Impa will think you have the paraglider and tell you to jump off her air balloon. I dare you to find a way to survive that fall without grinding hearts, because I HAD to warp away, I would have been softlocked if not for warp points. xD

while watching my siblings play this game (haven't had the opportunity myself yet) one of my most frequent thoughts was "I wonder how that cactus would do this?" I discovered you like a week ago and you have invaded my brain
Figuring out that rewinding an object's movements includes those made using Ultrahand was really one of the most entertaining discoveries in the game. Suddenly, every single structure can be used as an elevator. I actually got to one of the map towers and skipped the Bokoblin base leading up to it by making a really tall structure to get part of the way up, lifting and putting it down from said place, and then going back on top and rewinding it to get over the pikes blocking the tower.
Ultrahand Elevator lets you launch gliders from the sky island in different directions than the rails. I did an Ultrahand Elevator glider launch directly towards that tower from the nacho shrine and just skydived from above.
I can’t tell if ultrahand is going to make escort quests easier or harder on one hand, you don’t have to pick up nonmetals like jerries or bomb barrels, but on the other hand it opens up the opportunity to carry just about anything anywhere…
I found a human escort quest of sorts; if you use ultra hand to just drag their cart to the finish line they'll say it's too bumpy and abort the quest, forcing you to restart 😢
I didn’t realize you could go straight to the temple of time and explored pretty much the entire tutorial island without activating the shrines. Everything made a lot more sense after I got ultra hand lol
@@1colonelsanders idk Backtracking after getting to the temple wasn't that bad since I got to mess with the abilities and stuff, I just felt really dumb when I got to the temple after going around the whole island and then realizing it was connected to the start of the the snowy area

@@1colonelsanders You need 2 things you can stand on and move with ultrahand. You take platform 1 and use ultrahand to lift it up as high as you can and, hold it for a few seconds and put it back to the ground, now you stand on top of platform 1 activate recall and immediately switch to ultrahand to pick up platform 2. Now you fly up to the place where you lifted the first platform through recall and therefore can lift platform 2 even higher, once platform 1 goes back to the ground you can switch to recall again to stop it moving further and then stand on the platform you lifted up higher. Repeat this with switching platforms to basically gain infinite height and distance, if you move it forward as well. To really reach very high elevations i would recommend to wait a longer time holding the platform up whilst at the peak, as that time is going to be less every time you pick it up, although not by much, but it will gibe you an easier time.

I beat runakit shrine in a weird way. runakit shrine has you make a ball go down rails from one platform on to another several times over until it reaches the bowl thing that you’re supposed to put it into. On the second set of rails, the rails are too big for the ball to go down, so you’re supposed to attach cylinders to the sides of it so that it fits. Instead of doing that, I attached one rod to the ball so that the long end of it is attached to the ball. I attached every other rod to that rod so that it looks like a scepter. If you use ultra hand on the rod farthest away from the ball, you can indirectly hold the ball farther away than you normally could with the ultra hand, letting you get the ball directly on to the next platform without using the rails, then doing that again to get the ball to the end.
I went up there, too. Although, it didn’t take me as much effort. I didn’t realize it was showing a solution and instead thought it was a ride to a chest.
I have broken so many shrines, its not even funny. From just making towers to put balls on so I can grab them to put them in manually to recalling objects to climb up them, there's so much potential.
I thought Ziggy was supposed to be a kind of catapult. I wonder if it's possible to build a trebuchet. I think it is in general, but most of the shrines don't have enough material.
This is gonna be double fun, because I feel like the new abilities and area design lean in way harder to making your own weird ass solutions to puzzles. Heck I'm given to understand all of these challenges will be able to include "no glider" mode. Unless there's a mandatory story trigger somewhere in the open world.
No spoilers but because you have access to Hyrule at large as soon as you get out of the tutorial and still have a ways to go before you can get the paraglider, you're perfectly fine to wander off and do whatever you want. The only thing that requires glider so far in my experience are side quests that take place underground and the dungeons (or dungeon, because I've only been to one.)
my favorite way i did not intended in the tutorial was instead of attaching a fan to the mine carts, i just attached it to a shield. so fun! I also made a ladder out of logs to climb an icy surface before getting the ceiling swimming ability. and OMG HOW MANY TIMES I'VE DROPPED MY BRIDGE OVER THE EDGE!!! and still cant figure out how to use the gliders without the guide rail locations.
Lift the glider into the air or over the edge with ultra hand and then put back down where you can climb on, then use recall on it so it goes back into the raised position you just held it and release it with you on top
There's a bug with rewind and ultrahand. In that shrine with zonai Jerry 8n the great skyland plateau, I kept getting sent 1 floor lower when the collision of rewind and ultrahand occur at the same time. And then it was perpetual fall death.
I found a shrine whilst playing and it was where you had to make bridges and rafts out of logs, but there was so many logs that I made a log bridge nearly half the length of the shrine it was like 30 logs
I got softlocked in between a minecart and a boulder on the way to Ascend shrine. I couldn't use ultrahand or fuse because I was stuck crouching and I had to reload a save.
Insane that you didn’t just shield grind across the first shrine’s zipline. You don’t need to build anything on the last jump…only the second…unless you can climb something I missed.
I am beyond excited to see how people break this game. Been playing since the leak came out, and it is beyond time for a windbomb alternative. Best I can get is spawning multiple wings as I go up using the special 5th power you get later as one wing dies, but that requires a *lot* of resources. As an aside, any idea where I can find the lobster pajamas? Need my WW island vibe.
There is a shrine with a huge room full of flowing water, wood, and fan boats, and I spent an hour gathering every piece of wood and making a massive bridge from one side to the other lots of fun.

I skipped the camp too but I just attached fire emitters and balloons to a wooden plank xD. Less resource efficient but definitely luxurious

In the ultrahand shrine you can actually shield surf on top of the pole. That's how I finished the shrine.

You can stick a fan half way into a wall if you are on a slope. This will help with future shrines
I think you can shield surf on those rails, so you might've been able to do that to get through the first shrine without Ziggy

That first softlock wasn't: you can shield-surf on the rail.

Technically you weren't soft locked in the ultra hand shrine because you can just shield surf on rails. You don't even need a cart of minecart shield.
For the clock door, you can also just grab one of the hands and glue them together!

You can use Ultrahand in the Rewind shrine to stick the two clock hands together. This is actually what they do in the speedrun

It took me about 3 hours to realize the potential of Ultre Hand + Recall, but after that, it's all over! >:)

I just beat the "a windy device" shrine that's supposed to teach you how to use fans without activating any of the fans
When I heard "ziggy" my mind immediatly went to "Zuggle" (which is a named glitch in totk)
So fun little thing they added is that you can grind on rails for minecarts and ziplines by shield surfing.
