    I'm a little late to the show, but I just got this guitar last night. I noticed in your review that you mention the trem not swinging - if you check the manual, it explains that there are washers that snap on/off the trem bar. This will change the "stiffness" in the action of the bar - take the washers off and the bar will swing. I'm not trying to change your mind, just trying to help out. Also, if you angle the springs attached to the claw, you gain a stronger pull in the back - this may help out with you "warble". I changed mine like this and haven't experienced the issue, although playing styles may have something to do with this. Your review style is great - you went through the whole guitar bit by bit - and it ended with me buying a new guitar. I'd like to see you continue on with this and help out other people/companies - good luck!

    Great, great review! I have one arriving tomorrow and I'm really excited to play it! It's my first ibanez (usually stick to ESP)
    I'm amazed with the sound of the fusion edge pickups. I had a really bad experience with them but I think the guitar I played just had completely different wood and/or was just a step down in quality. They sound so pristine here.
    I was going to swap them for a set of Bareknuckle Nailbombs (my personal favorite pickup) but I might just keep these in now.

      I just got a RG 1120 premium. It has one of the best necks I have ever played. It is simply amazing.....but.....I was getting ready to do a review on it and it quit working. Only the neck pickup works. It looks like there is a bad spot on the little circuit board for the 10 way switching. I am sending it back but there are none to replace it with until late summer. The quality of it appears to be top notch like the 5320 but obviously the QC is not there.

    -How do you compare neck of this guitar with an unfinished neck? Does it get stuck to the hand?
    -Your review actually made me think of buying this guitar. There is a similar model (Prestige RG5320C-DFM). What do you think about this one?
    -Also I heard Ibanez AZ Prestige are good guitars!
    Looking forward to see more reviews from you,
    Cheers

    • @TraceTaylor3
      @TraceTaylor3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for the comment. First the necks on these are amazing. they are thin but the satin finish is great. my hands never get sticky on them like they do with painted necks. You cant go wrong with either guitar. this one of course had the dimarzio fusion pickups that are amazing. They are ceramic and have a very tight bottom to them. I believe the dfm has the tone zone and the air norton in them....which are also great pickups. Other than the pickups they should play exactly the same. The AZ's are great guitars.....not as "metally" as the RG and I don't think you can get a full locking trem on the AZ but I could be wrong about that. I have never seen an AZ with one. I guess it really depends on the type of music you are playing.

    it has a locking bridge and nut. Don't need locking tuners.

    • @TraceTaylor3
      @TraceTaylor3  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You absolutely need locking tuners. Not for stability. It helps necessitate the string changes drastically while gigging if you break a string. You don't have to wind a million windings around the post. Pull it tight, lock it and tune. It is a must have for gigging musicians.

    BEST SOUND IBANEZ FOR METAL IN HISTORY!!!! In more than 20 years of
    playing metal, I had own many Ibanez models from mid to high-end models.
    But this guitar is just the best sounding Ibanez I ever had!!! There some details that I disagree with Trace. The bridge comes in the old fashion style when compared to that of the ZP-3. Of course, is more difficult to adjust but the benefit is the huge bronze block you get which adds tons of sustain! Locking Tuners? Normally locking tremolo guitars don't come with locking tuners, so it is not a big issue. You can always replace them. Satin finish necks are the fastest necks, so if you need speed, this is your best choice!!! The fretwork indeed is the BEST I EVER SEEN in any guitar I had, is just the best ever! I have always replaced the stock pickups of all me guitars, except for this one, it just matches perfectly! and together with the high-density mahogany body (4.25 kg) it mixes perfectly! Is like a good blended whisky! My big concern about the guitar is just the natural finish in the back, it should be painted black or grey,! Besides that, is PERFECTION!!!

    • @TraceTaylor3
      @TraceTaylor3  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get what you are saying. the block is nice but I have no issues with sustain. Mine will sustain for days as will my 1120pbz. the 1070 comes with a locking trem but also has locking tuners. The reason I like them is it makes string changing soooo much easier. Pull the string through, cut, tune. If some one doesn't have multiple guitars at a show and breaks a string it is a life saver. As far as the tone.....dude, by far the best sounding Ibanez and for metal....hands down the winner. The tones of this guitar are insane. I do play my 1120 more. Same pickups but just a little more versatile guitar with about 95% of the tone of the 5320. the only guitars I have not changed pickups on are my EVH's...for the obvious reason....and the 5320 and 1120 which is the premium version. These pickups were made for the 5320 and they absolutely shine in that guitar. This thing is a beast. If it had the switching system of the 1120 and the zero point system....it is all I would ever play....except for the EVH's. they are just simply awesome.

    Great review. Only point of slight disagreement that I would offer is that on all my guitars with locking tremolos, I leave the ball ends on and string them backwards, leaving the ball ends at the tuning pegs. However, point taken on the increased time it takes to perform string changes without locking tuners. Definitely understandable that would be critical for self-supported gigging musicians.

    • @TraceTaylor3
      @TraceTaylor3  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried the ball end on the post....and I know this is stupid but everytime I would look up there that would drive me crazy. However, a great fix if it does not have locking tuners.

  • @Fimafengr

    This is the best guitar review I've seen. Really made all the points come through, I play and make black metall which is very much centered around chords. This guitar has the tonality and will easily be a no brainer for my use. Only dowm sides as you said is the wobbly sound, no locking tuners and the trem rod not being able to float freely. I habe a japan RG550 from 92/93 and that sound does not come close with those dimarzios.
    Could you do more showcasings of it with more 80's metal riffs in various forms and try to play something Taake/Gorgoroth/Havukruunu/1349 oriented?

      I appreciate the comment brother. This guitar is simply amazing. I will do some more videos on this. I am trying to get the premium version of this guitar and I have a couple of videos coming up but I will work this in. For the wobbly sound....someone left me a comment and said use a carbon fiber arm and that cuts down on the wobblily part of it. The premium version of this guitar has the zero trem on it and does not wobble. Hopefully I can get one of these in the next week or so, so I can do a review on it. It may be a better option.

      @@TraceTaylor3 good to hear! I was a typical Gibson guy for years, but have now discovered my love for Ibanez after testing a prestige at a friend's house. Don't get me wrong, I still think Gibson is good. But unfortunately the price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all anymore. and what ibanez delivers in the price range from 1k to 2k is really amazing.

      @@mathias_411 Yeah I get that dude. I am a diehard EVH fan. I have had 13 Wolfgangs over the years....all USA models. I bought an Ibanez S series because I was just looking for something different and really liked it...but didn't love it. I then saw the 5320 and thought what the hell, bought it and it blew my mind.....all for only 2k. Then I bought the Indo version of this guitar....the 1120 which is crazy good. I did have to grind the nut down as for some odd reason guitar manufactures are putting them on too high. Now it is one of my gigging guitars. It has the same pups with a 10 way switch and EVO gold frets. Guitar simply screams. I started looking at other guitars and the price was just too stupid. 5 k for a PRS. 4.5k for a new wolfgang. I saw the Red J Custom and really liked it. My wife got if for me for Christmas a couple of years ago....and dude....that is the finest guitar I have ever played. I love necks and the trem systems on the Ibanez. I am a convert from Wolfgangs. Now, I am looking at the MIJ wolfgang. One of my subs got one and said he cannot tell a difference between that and the american, except for the fact that the MIJ was over 1500 less.

      @@TraceTaylor3 Absolutely. I took a look at your review of the J Custom. What a beautiful guitar. And when I compare the price of the custom with that of a Gibons/PRS, I wonder what justifies the extra price. I have to say that I've never had a bad PRS in my hands. The quality control was really perfect. Not so with Gibson. A Supreme for almost 5k? With sharp fret edges, paint defects, bad binding and a brittle dry fingerboard and toolmarks without end? And that wasn't just the case with one. I think that's a real shame.
      And then I pick up an Ibanez Prestige or Custom and just think WTF? That's more than perfect. I still have an ESP Horizon USA at home. It's also really good, but it cost over 5k. Then I'd rather take a J-Custom for just under 3k.
      If you have the opportunity to test an EVH Wolfgang Made in Japan, then do it. A friend of mine has a Wolfgang USA and a Made in Japan. The Japan costs just under 2k and I don't know the difference to the USA. I'm not a professional, but I would never have been able to tell which is USA or which is Japan.

I really don't play the J Custom live much......My RG's are beast and do everything I need them to do. The new MIJ wolfs are 2700.00. Personally I think they should have kept them at the 2000 price point. I do not know what is going on with EVH but they are asking top dollar for everything they make.....and it is hard to spend 4500 on a USA Wolf when I can get a J Custom for 3000 or a prestige for 2000. I just do not know what is going on in the American guitar market.

      I would take the Ibanez. I had a USA soloist that was beautiful but it just never worked for me. I love the Ibanez trem systems. They literally disappear under your hands where the Floyds kick up in the rear and hit the side of my hand at times. I always prefer a straight radius on the neck where my Jackson had the compound radius....that a lot of people seem to love but I was never that big a fan of it. The wizard necks are simply amazing and the neck on this guitar is only second to my J Custom. Personally, I love the DiMarzio Fusion Pickups. Some hate them but they have great attack, a brutal sound and the neck pickup on high distortion is one of the best I have ever played for soloing. They don't clean up all that great by rolling of the knob but that is why we have clean channels. On a clean channel however they are very chimey. I like that. I have had a several people buy this guitar from my video and so far every one of them have loved this guitar. When anyone buys a guitar from one of my reviews I always ask them to let me know how they like it and so far across the board they have been very happy with the guitar. I wish you could. That is a great system and with the lopro it would be amazing. However, once you get in tuned in and everything set, it is dead stable. You can wail on it and it goes right back to tune. This guitar is amazing and you can get the action pretty low. But, I actually play the 1120PBZ more. It is the premium version of this guitar and I think I like it better. Same pickups with the edge system in the back {the trem wheel} and it sounds and plays great....and 600 cheaper. Thanks for the comment. I truly appreciate it.

The reason I asked about the screws because one of my guitars came in and the screws were not snugged down.....and that happens. If your screws are tight and you still have some movement....send it back for another. That is one hell of a guitar and you want it perfect for two grand. That is a profiled 5150 III EL84 amp. Of course you can do this with any amp. This secret is running a distortion pedal in front of the amp. turn the gain on the pedal down to 0 or up to 2. adjust the tone on the pedal and crank the output. Scoop the mids a little on the amp itself then dial some back in with the distortion pedal. That will turn about any amp into a beast and tighten the hell out of it. Also run a good smooth reverb.

      this is why this is called a review. I am simply giving information to people who might want to buy this guitar. To most people it is important for the guitar to look the part. I have never seen a blues band with the guitar player playing a ESP KH. It simply does not fit. The guitar itself is simply amazing but the statement within the video is simply saying that the guitar looks very metal and regardless of how good it plays or sounds....it simply may not look the part for you. Also, in hopes that enough people will play this guitar and figure our the enormous tonal variety and that maybe....just maybe....Ibanez and Dimarzio will release these pickups for people to buy.

      Ahhhh. but the 1070 comes with locking tuners and a locking nut and if you are a gigging musician....boy it sure does make those string changes faster when you break a string on stage, which I have had to do a few times because all my guitars that I gig with all serve a different purpose and when you are as hard on a trem as I am....sometimes those darn strings break and so much easier to slide it in the tree, pull it, tighten it, tune it with no slippage like you get from not having them. The things I "complain about" are wish list things and I give my opinions of how I feel about them to give the viewers the best information that I possibly can. In the Lo-Pro or Pro although is more recessed because of its design it should stay the under part of emtal of the microtuners, not sinked, this looks the whole trem a little bit tilted but is the way should stay,
