Dash cam video of Jeep coming off of dolly behind RV

- Here is the dash cam video of the Jeep decided to go for an off road advanture after the straps loosened off. (the dash cam is hardwired and runs anytime there is motion)
The vibration of the road was bad and obviously the straps were not as tight as they should have been. Luckily it went into the ditch and no one was hurt. Watch as it threads through the posts and signs narrowly missing them all.
Since this little adventure happened , there has been some safety chains installed. But hopefully they will never be needed. I have certainly taken my lumps and understand the severity of the what could have happened. Obviously my intentions were not to lose the Jeep .
imagine your own car passing you in the grass
Honey, is that our Jeep!😮
That happened to a friend of mine, his daughter was looking out the window of their Winnebago and a boat went by and she says daddy that looks just like our boat and he looked over and it was their boat😅

Look at that fuel economy!!
Truckdriver here... this is why I believe RVs should go into scale houses and have to pass inspection like we do for public safety. I've seen kids in pull behind RVs, motor homes with drivers drinking beer, etc. Yet we (truckers) are a cash cow, and it's not about safety as much as money. .
You got sooo lucky! Can't believe the toad missed all those light standard and signs!!!
Go out and buy a lottery ticket!!
Because luck follows luck ?
Isn't it very bad luck to lose it off the dolly in the first place
@ 0:13 it hit a sign. Not as bad as it could have been though.
@@joeguetzloff4465 I think that rock at the end would have inflicted significant damage.
That thing went into oncoming and killed someone, they'd be going to prison

My Dad was a trucker driver. Something on the trailer axle broke. He saw the dual wheels come off in the mirror slowed down, swerved into them to knock them down. They would have gone into oncoming traffic and possibly killed someone, had he not done that. Thats just one of the memories I have of my Dad that make me smile .😊 thankfully no one was hurt by the unmanned jeep
my dad was also a truck driver and in the 80s he lost a wheel and he said the last time he saw it, it was heading into town lmao kept driving.
@@XxAtomic646xX well, you couldn’t of expected him to drive off the road and follow it !! I’m very proud of my dad. I’m sure he saves somebody’s life that day.

That Jeep drove itself more skillfully than every Mustang driver ever could. 😊

Literally best case scenario of a worst case situation. Also just gave everyone a nice fat reminder to check their stuff when towing
Just curious: why was the dash cam on in a towed car?
@@rcnelson How else could we have seen a video of it?
@@rcnelson Some dashcams can detect "crashes" or other sudden movement of a vehicle and save the footage (always recording but only saves video to the SD card when it detects an incident). Perhaps it getting knocked off the trailer or hitting that bump before stopping could have triggered it if that is the case
If it's wired correctly cameras stay on when the car's ignition is off.

That was the most exciting short video. Great plot great action and a protagonist I was rooting for, with a happy ending: better than most movies I’ve seen lately.

I think the casting was meant to sway the Academy around Oscar season. :)
Probably the only time in that jeeps life it will ever go off-roading. It escaped on purpose.
"i want to break free"
You don’t actually think that, do you? The guy has an RV and you think he DOESNT off road?
No, the jeep is just there to try to pull out the RV whenever it gets stuck while off-roading.

When we lived in Florida and were traveling I75 one day taking an on off ramp. Along side the road a big RV had pulled over. He too had a dolly attached (with a strap hanging) and he was scratching his head and looking around in a worried way. It was probably the first turn he had taken in quite awhile where he could actually see the vehicle he was/wasn’t towing. Quite a surprise I would think.

Good demo of Jeep's new self driving software! Outstanding collision avoidance algorithm.
It's drives itself better than most people I know behind the wheel
Yeah if someone was behind the wheel, they would have over reacted the moment they hit the grass to avoid any on coming non existent semi trees that could hit them then somehow would have tuned into a multi vehicle pile up, multiple roll overs, a dear being hit, a head on collision and a semi tanker catching fire then leading to a wild fire lol
Thank you so much for blurring out that sign near the end. I don't think I could have watched the video without you doing that.
I saw it before it was blurred out and my innocence is lost forever. I never imagined such a thing could happen 20 miles outside of &*%%%sville.
imagine looking out to the side of your rv and just seeing your jeep running away
At first he didn't realize it was his. With his wife driving, he rolled the passenger window down and was heard yelling to the jeep..
Hey Dip$h!t !! Buy an RV an just tow the sumbitch! Hella lot cheaper!
What's that honey?
@@phildavenport4150 did we watch the same video?? Yes not right away but it'd be REAL hard for the jeep to have passed the rv if the rv was just still cruising at 70mph like you claim lol
Once saw a 2 horse trailer didn't have any horses come off on the freeway in Southern California going about 75 mph. It went for while then spun around about 15 times eventually coming to a stop traffic was light everyone jammed the breaks I was 2nd car behind it looking back for someone to rear end me didn't happen. Guy didn't have any safety chains said he was trying to get to home he bought it sight unseen went to pick it up had no chains.
needn't imagine
@cherriberri8373 if you watch the rv slows down and the jeep does pass it.
I'm curious... why was the Green highway sign blurred out? What the hell could be censored from that???
Location, location location🤷 This was a prank video. Someone was driving the Jeep.🤭
@@Theuglytruth1776 LOL was wondering the same thing 🤣
I’m guessing that the Jeep wasn’t old enough to have his driver’s license and the owner was trying to keep him from getting in trouble.
Most off-roading that Jeep will ever see! 😂 Glad it didn’t wander into traffic and hurt someone.
It's easy enough to see the other videos on the channel of said jeep off-road. You're projecting how mad you are that your vehicle sucks cock off road
Imagine looking out the window and your Jeeps offroading by itself 😂
Just that one rock at the end. Not bad
She’s got enough skid plates underneath her that she can easily survive a rock or two, possibly even three like that without doing much injury to the suspension/drivetrain. Both the RV driver snd the Jeep could not have gotten any luckier tho!! Thank goodness no one was hurt and the Jeep only had a few bruises
It sideswiped a small metal sign, but that was it until the rock.
After a few "OH NOs" it wasn't too bad‼️
Thanks for sharing 😎
When ever you tow/haul anything, you should stop every 100 miles or when ever, to check all fasteners/hitches/etc. Especially after the first so many miles, things get out of adjustment, even check the hitch ball nut to see if it needs tightening.
At least every fuel stop...drove across country pulling other peoples cars/belongings several times now
and at every stop, things needed to be re-tightened....plus we still had safety chains on everything, never lost

There's so many geriatrics that don't know how, or don't have the strength to fasten these vehicles down properly it's not even funny. I see them all the time in the road with loose straps and no chains.
And tow correctly...
@@JD-vl5yh its insane. i dont get how they feel nothing doing that. when i did this the first time i had hella anxiety and made sure everything is set and kept checking it along the way. so much could go wrong even though its a simple thing. how do people not care?
@@JD-vl5yh Sadly, its mostly old people that own these. They can barely drive a car and somehow are allowed to pilot something like this. The video I saw of one blindly pulling out in front of a semi recently was interesting. The semi locked up their brakes and somehow stopped in time. The rv would have been ripped apart like toilet paper.
Impressive! The only thing the jeep hit besides the rock at the end was the flower
I think it nicked that sign in the beginning that actually pushed him back Towards the grass.

@theoriginaldashriprock oh I'm sure I personally would, but that doesn't quite work for everyone 😅
I got a tow dolly. I have towed many vehicles. You must check and recheck EVERYTHING, you see and in your mind. I have CDL's, do a pre-trip and post trip. Do a load check on your trip, wet or dry. And always add a safety chaining from the dolly to the vehicle. I will say it looks like to me the wheel straps are not in place or not place right. And no safety chain in place.

2nd time I have seen this video. Still crazy.😄 The Jeep likely suffered no damage due to its solo off-roading experience; however, I cannot say what damage was caused by dolly towing a Jeep...which is a big no-no. You either flat tow or trailer tow. In order to safely dolly tow, you have to remove the drive shaft, which is usually not practical. If I read another comment correctly, what likely happened to this jeep is the transfer case temporarily slipped into gear yanking the jeep off the dolly. I suppose someone with more knowledge can chime in on what damage this did to the transfer case.
Exactly - never dolly a JT or JLU - and likely other models. Severe damage can be done. Flat tow only. Read the owners manual!

That camper owner was the luckiest person on the roadways that day. With everything that could have gone wrong, all this person had to do was to lock the front hubs on the Jeep, drive it back to the dolly, reload it, secure it, and be on their way! There was an angel riding “shotgun” that day!
that jeep avoided more obstacles by itself than some of the ones I've seen out there with foreign drivers.

That’s impressive that, despite a hard runover of a stump or something similar, the Jeep avoided crashing into anything!
Holy hell that went about as good as it could have! Missed two poles and only hit a small rock. At worst it's probably got a bent control arm or something. I was genuinely cheering lol.

Good job the dashcam was running while the engine was off and the car was being towed. Wouldn't want to miss a video of the back of an RV.
My Dad drove all kinds of trucks all his life. He loved owning his own truck and having the fastest most powerful truck in the fleet. But he was not reckless. In all those years he was involved in one accident. ONE WRECK! He was hit in the side of his car hauler trailer by a drunk driver! The average driver has no idea just how dangerous the open highway really is.
That could have been so much worse! Did you see how that thing luckily threaded the needle and even avoided every pole. Incredible! I'd say the driver that screwed up hooking this thing up got a very lucky on the damage side of things.
! Not Bad! Rolled to a near perfect stop. Imagine if that had been a Kia!
That Jeep should get a Badge of Honor for doing that trail on its own
Congrats on the fact it didn’t hit anything and probably isn’t too damaged. Sorry that you got a massive ticket for improperly securing the load and not having a breakaway stopping device.
Look honey, that’s a damn nice looking jeep there cruising beside us.
Ain't no body gonna call my Jeep a mall crawler... that baby goes OFF ROAD!
It does better than most drivers on the road today.
This is what safety chains are for buddy. Glad no one got hurt.
I actually worked on a Grand Cherokee on an insurance claim years ago that was on a towbar behind a diesel pusher motorhome. First the LF tire goes flat, then the shredded tire knocks off the fender flare then trashes the fender and hood. The tire disappears and wears down the alloy to the size of the brake rotor and the caliper was hanging by the brake hose. The violent bouncing and banging broke 2 out of 4 radius arms and broke the actual axle tube out of the front differential. He had a rear camera but couldn't see what was going on.
The RV driver had God watching over him. No damage to the Jeep at all
Wife, looking out the RV passenger window: "Oh honey look! Somebody with a Jeep just like ours is doing some off-roading right here by the freeway! What are the odds?!"

Wow! I was rooting for the Jeep to make it unscathed. It’s alive!
Lucky. My jeep came unhitched after 50 miles on my hill driveway rolled across 4 lane hwy into a ditch without a scratch. You got pure luck on that one.
lol That's some seriously good luck, and of all vehicles to go off-road it was a Jeep! 😂
That must have been HILARIOUS to the owner!
Dude, where’s my car?
Don’t worry, I know where it is and it’s fine!
How it missed all those items is a mystery. I drove a wrecker for over half a decade... very fortunate indeed.
I imagine the motorhome looking out the window being like look at that Yahoo driving down the ditch 😂
The Jeep became fully self aware. After this, the missles start launching and the terminators show up. 😂

Man alive, if you tow you've GOT to consider things that, perhaps however unlikely, might happen to your tow, and take precautions to avoid them! Of course those things aren't supposed to happen, but what if they do? Watching this has given me things to think about.
Best use of a Jeep that I have seen yet!
