- MMO New World Aeternum had horrible marketing and neglected its current player base on PC until damage control occurred. The MMO is set to launch on console, but has underwent a lot of drama as of late for asking its community to wait just for a console announcement whilst also being told to then wait until October. Player numbers continue to slowly die down further and further even from where they were last time I covered the population. Is New World Aeternum enough? 2024 has not been a good ride for players.

I wanted to do this video not to just kick NW while it’s down, but for full transparency incase some people subscribed purely just for New World and waiting on more builds. As someone who has mained the game and done so much content, I felt a follow up from me was warranted after the console news and community feedback. My previous video on console release was strictly informational so I wanted to give an opinionated take and maybe provide a reference for new players coming soon. I don’t want to see the game fail and hope the population spike in October makes the mmo competitive

But tbh I was the same way when maining new world cause the game (when it was good to me) was attracting doomers who only played at launch and so u want to defend it. But these devs make it hard to cope with recent decisions

The thing is that "meme vid" they made making fun at the players and our questions wasn't a meme at all. Her attitude was getting worse with each Q&A vid (because we kept asking the same questions that never got answered). She was 100% done with the PC player base for months. It was all over her face.

its not really the update itself as much as the absolute dogshit communication from the devs. if they had just told us "we're working on a console port so there wont be as much content coming" sure ppl would be annoyed but at least it would be honest lol

Yea. It’s actually baffling honestly. The PvE base is the ones who leave when out of content. Meanwhile we been staying faithful with just one OPR map
I dont think the Amazon game studios are using new world as a learning experience for LOTR mmo, I just genuinely think they're incompetent and forced to make an mmo game despite having no experience. Made worse so by the fact that the game blew up *too fast* . The fact that they consistently shift their game's focus leads me to believe they have no coherent vision of what they want this game to be, that's what is killing this game.
If your game has no vision then there will be no content focus and no content focus on an MMO means no players, because MMO players are looking for "forever games" not nothing games.
Well said even if everyone doesn’t agree with the vision, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A VISION. They rushed the game out with a “I’ll fix it later” mentality and it’s crazy. They have had soo many focuses and identities and now they are saying ARPG…

This video is right on point. With over 7K hours (not including Alpha/Beta/PTR) and an embarrassing amount of real money spent; I’m officially on hiatus.
The truth of the matter is, the “re-brand/relaunch” of the game in October is completely catered to the possible new audience of console players. Likewise, that version of the game is the version it should have been when it first launched; at bare minimum.
Essentially, what that means is: “WE,” the pc players, were nothing more than mere BETA testers this whole time. Most of us, want (or wanted) this game to succeed…. But the “let down” history is amazingly horrific.
All I have left one word: Betrayed!
By the time October comes around there will be nobody playing PC side. All the good players are gone and those remaining are either new or coping hard.
I imagine when console releases, those players will want to be on fresh start servers. And going off of their history of not delivering, ags cross platform might not work.
I'll be playing Chivalry 2 and GTA5 if anyone out there is looking for a teammate.
The developers might want to do a lot of stuff, cool and all that and make it great and fun and success but sadly they have proven to be unable to deliver.

My questions to AGS is, once get all these news players how do you plan to keep them playing the game? Or, is it your intention to just get a big pay day and after that who cares?

This new players are already disappointed before release... Look they are marketing the game not as an MMO on console and the reality is that it's a MMO in fact many activities required player to group up and even towns need group pvp to stay somewhat useful. So they are selling a product that is a lie the moment the console player realize that they bought a game think it's all soli Play and are force to team up for end game they will be pissed a lot. So AGS pissed the players that loved their game and lied to their potential new players. My hopes are super low and the more i see their way of speaking of the new release and the fact they haven't change their way of working/interacting it's easy to see the future of the game as we already lived this reality it might be new for console players but it's still gonna kill those players interested in a few months... I doubt the game will keep any booming of players more the 4 months... Especially considering TnL release and this was probably the play AGS wants sell copies players start leaving and they can quietly decommission the game and get the LoTR hype started. As much as i love the game j wished console is a flop I don't want even more gamers getting lied to companies need to star treating players correctly and not as pure soulless money sheep

At this point in time it should be a solidified competitor in the mmo space… but it’s not
My biggest issue with new world is the combat feels subpar compared to most other popular mmos like it gets repetitive and boring fast. But ya on top of that there's not much to do. Once you invest time into it.
I always go back to ffxiv cause there's so much content. Why play jew world when you can play 2 entire expansions of ffxiv with what I would argue has better combat flow even though it's tab target
The playerbase as of now doesn't matter. They're relaunching the game in Oct, and people will come back either way. Will it also disappoint? Probably.

Video/your opinion 💪. My two cents: AGS has no idea how to do PR haha. The minor upside is that NW will continue since they are doing console and so NW will live on... but with no new content until October (very lame) and they clearly treat their current player base (PC) extremely poorly. That said, NW should be far better off than it is, AGS management is to blame (IMO). Too much to say really... ah well. I still play NW, not a ton but I play. Why? Nothing else to play and I enjoy the combat. If I had a minor wish, I'd wish for someone to restart WAR, that is how lame MMO land is now. An old outdated MMO with no PvE is better (at least from a PvP player's perspective). I know WAR has a private server but it is EU and the ping is too low for me to enjoy PvP. I guess I could use that minor wish to make NW a more complete MMO but AGS doesn't deserve that.
Yea I believe just being on console alone will make population better than it’s been since maybe Elysian wilds launch. I just wonder if pc players will feel too disrespected to do their part. Population could solve a lot of issues but I’m curious if July will see like 4k daily peaks 😫

New World had so much potential to be a GREAT MMO with a massive player base. HAD!. AGS really dorked this game up. The copium huffers will resist the death of this game while most players will move on. Console will pop for a month, then crash and burn as well. AGS devs - can't name them as I get hated on for holding people that fail accountable - should all be fired and only allowed to work on mobile games.

I lost faith to AGS. Even when the game will relaunch with consoles in Octobert, they didn't convince me that things will get better after the relaunch. That more contents will be release at a decent ratio pace and that all bugs will be fixed. Their dev teams seems to be just too small to handle this mmo.

Was a day 1 player with 3k hours stopped playing the game about 6 months in or so,, with occasional pick ups with new content,,, disappointed every time,, been playing console due to pc issues,,, I will inevitably buy the game on console just so I can get screwed over by ags one last time,,

@@Nyce-Gaming I have played ESO for a year 10 years ago and had a lot of fun. Now, in the present, I am impressed with how well the game has developed. The graphics and servers have been improved, and the content seems endless. The starting areas (EU) are full of players.

You know what's wild, PC players even with their low numbers left could take over all the new servers and gate keep all end game easily. They really thought they could fuck over their existing player base and they would just roll over and die. I don't know about you but I am 1,000% going to play on those fresh starts servers and fuck people's day up.

I was waiting for your take on this after the "big announcement". I hate to say it, but I think new world is going to succeed on console. on the other hand they completely failed their old and loyal customers. We will see what happens, the game is dead for me, I have 0 trust now and they lost me.

This is what happens when the endgame core systems tied to pvp, such as the town system, get undermined by a shift in the design direction to pve. But NW had no pve endgame upon launch and it takes more than a year to create one. This is the biggest reason why op-in pvp will not work in AoC. If no one has an incentive to conquer towns and change the world then the endgame might be less boring than NW end game yet still boring. You need pvp and you need pve. Thus, pvx. If you don't have both you don't have a reason to play. This was NW failure. Unfortunately, the game engine, Lumberyard, was unable to handle open world pvp or even isolated pvp modes. I don't think they had a choice to shift towards being more pve focused. The pvp game design was doomed from the start due to technological limitations that experienced game developers would have recognized early on. They pivoted too late in the games development and had no hired pve designers on staff.

The concole release is a final cas grab for NW. At the same time a testing grounds for LOTR. Yet at this point majority of people who played NW will be very careful about anything AGS will do in the future.
For 3 years they are failing again and again with everything they try to do. I came back once elysian wilds came out just to find a broken MSQ for the update and azoth staff not working. How the actual fuck they release a "game saving content" with these major bugs and then dont fix them for weeks?
The game may not be dead yet, but at this point even the blind can see it has no future. They failed to create a player base and there are new and likely better games on the horizon. Time has simply run out.

1) I got caught up in the moment and was in no way respectful of you or your thoughts on the game. My comment was not appropriate at all and I want to apologize for that.
2) AGS completely fooled me to think we would get more content geared towards current players. And in the end, I was the idiot who lacked critical thinking skills. Not you.

I took a step back and recognized that I was way too invested in this game, to the point I was willing to slander others to “prove a point”. Which is not who or what I want to be about. Plenty of people online, I don’t have problems finding groups, I’m in an active company, I can do anything in the game without being limited because no one is playing.
People are board of the game, and they are also mad the game didn’t go the PvP only route. The people who enjoy the game are playing the game.
I find it kind of sad that pc players are trying to ensure the console release sucks by griefing new players and review bombing. Oh well.

3500 players on during east coast prime time. Just because you enjoy a game doesn’t mean you should support it if they do shitty things and don’t treat their players right. The game is dead and it’s going to compete against Diablo 4 expansion on console as well as poe 2. Not only that but it’s got to compete on streaming platforms too.
