This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2022 mid-size luxury Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.Mercedes-Benz always does a great job with its interior design and this
GLE Coupe is no exception. It’s hard not to feel the luxury in this SUV with a beautiful leather cream interior, wood trim, a panoramic sunroof and 64 colour ambient lighting. The wide screen cockpit with dual 12.3” digital displays adds sophistication and elegance to the cabin. Standard features include, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power tailgate, panoramic sunroof, over the air software updates, Apple Carplay and Android Auto. There are plenty of packages to choose from including the premium package for $3400 CAD, which includes heated rear seats, a foot-activated tailgate and heated front armrests and upper door panels. If you would like a wireless charger, you can add it for $150 CAD or soft close doors for $550 CAD. In the US, you jump right to the GLE AMG 53, the packages are a little different and you have the option of some a la carte items like a heated steering wheel for $250 USD, a Warmth and Comfort package for $1150 USD which includes, a rapid heating feature for the front seats. You can also add ventilated front seats for $450 USD and heated second row seats for $580 USD. There is a lot to choose from to make this Coupe your own. The Burmester sound system is a great addition with two surround sound options, 13 speakers and 590 watts of digital clarity or a 25 speaker digital analog 3D system. The Coupe isn’t as practical as the GLE SUV, you lose 2 inches of headroom in the second row and about 14 cubic feet of overall cargo space. The GLE 450 Coupe is not available in the US and the AMG GLE 63 S is not available in Canada. The 450 Coupe starts at $86,600 CAD, AMG GLE 53 $97,600 CAD/$76,500 USD and AMG GLE 63 S $116,000 USD.

I always loved how Mercedes put the seat controls on the side of the doors, unlike the ones on the bottom of the seats. who wants to get their watch get stuck or scratched in the process of changing recline settings

What's wrong with seat controls on the door? To me it's the best way, i had 2 mercedes, planning to buy another one again, it's most comfortable vehicle for the price, although i hate the dealership

Since both if you have broadcasting experience in radio, why are most car manufacturers removing CD players? Apple and Android car play don't have nearly the sound quality that a CD does. I actually like the seat controls on the door because it's easier to find exactly what seat control I'm choosing. I despise the controls on the seats (BMW, Porsche) because when I get into another car, fidgeting with controls takes forever cause I can't see it.

That will forever be the dumbest argument I ever hear about any car. If you live long enough with the car then you know where the buttons I use often are. This is important because you don’t want to look away from the road. Your argument is only valid if the door is too close the buttons which is a problem I have never encountered🤷🏿♂️ it just doesn’t make sense

I always wondered (while working at a N. Van AMC/Jeep/Eagle/Renault dealership)… ‘what would the folks buying AMC Eagles, Concords and Spirit drivers buy in the “future”’… apparently, it would be a MB GLE coupé and the those X6 coupés. Merci pour la video!
You two are great as always, but nothing about this car makes sense to me. It is big, but without space. It is homely, but it is, well…homely. I’m sure it is fast and drives great, but who is this car for?
Great review. I agree a column shifter is a deal breaker for us. After owning 2 MBs, last year we bought a BMW X5.

For me the backend is boring. I prefer Audis sharper rear end. Pls add comments on the audio of the rides u drive. Super couple, that also can sell any car, toothpaste, or fashion. U guys rock.

Awesome review as always, folks! To me, the grill looks like one for an EV, as it's quite smooth. I wonder if coupes will be produced much longer, as everyone is buying boxy SUVs and CUVs these days. I also think Andrea is an intelligent and premium package, Zack :) The sailer cap cutaway was so funny, I guess you can share the 4 pack with your boys for the next family drive, they'll love that, right? :)

I don't mind them calling it a coupe. Languages evolve. We don't talk like Shakespeare did, thank goodness, and new words and new meanings are added every year to the dictionary.
What bothers me is them charging more for less. I like the look of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe but I still would rather get the regular SUV, if I was in the market for a SUV.

Yes, a coop is where chickens are kept, a sloping roofed vehicle is a coupé.
i prefer this style of the screens over the new style on the s class by far. idk why they thought they should go back to stuck on tablet style.
IMO I prefer the non-coupe SUV’s. Something about the raked roof lines I just don’t like. I like the big blocky look of traditional SUV’s.
Stunning SUV, I'd take this over the regular gle and the porsche. Benz know how to make luxury vehicles like no other. Also the 22" rims we get in UK are alot nicer
Coupe on stilts reminds me of AMC Eagle.
I’m a fan of the seat controls on the door. Wish my GV80 had that setup. Not a fan of the tablet trend. It’s like piano-black. Why oh why? I now keep microfiber towelettes in the console cubby. So stupid.

I would rather have the GLE Coupe and buy a trailer for anything that didn't fit, thanks for the tip about the sailboat suspension
We have looked at this a few times. In the US we only get the AMG versions. I feel like it’s over kill on power. The fastest street we drive on is 45mph. Honestly with traffic we are lucky to hit 35-40. I wish they would do a 350 like the normal GLE.
One more thing in favour of the regular GLE…the front seats go back farther. With long legs it makes a huge difference.
why in Canada, you do not stop on a STOP sign?

My pharmacist just ordered one of these. Not a powerful model though. This model would cost 6000 dollars to register because of the horsepower. I did not know about Belgian registration taxes when I got a 204hp car. 200HP to 320HP is 3000 dollars to register. The new 196HP models cost 790 dollars to register.

My wife recently got the regular 450. Great looking vehicle. Screen looks amazing.
Get a lot for the price compared to BMW and Porsche, though Cayenne in a different league. Audi… meh.
I am wondering about resale value once MB move over to EV platform and fuel prices are much higher than they are now... is this something you would recommend people look into?

I'm not a Mercedes fan at all, but this looks nice. Totally agree with Zack. The wheels need to be changed. They look cheap and out of place.
The whole "coupe" thing is very ironic. It's a french word meaning chopped off. You would think the convertibles would be called coupes.

I love the way this car looks but I don't like the poor visibility out of the back window. The inside is gorgeous. I really like the single panel double screen display. If I had my choice I would take that over the the tablet on the center console. I think Andrea is right that Mercedes should offer a mix and offer the single panel display as an option. Zach is also right that the wheels are not great. Mercedes could do a better job on the wheels but I would purchase this car for sure.
Great review. Hope MB sticks with both the column shifter (since they haven’t done a manual for years) and the control pad. Nice sailor caps by the way.

We call this the "whale" or "sea elephant" in my family. Not sure why anyone would get it over the non-Coupe version. The only one that looks OK is the Cayenne one, and even then, I don't know what's wrong with the normal Cayenne.
Unless your a 'soccer mom', theres absolutely no point in getting the regular gle over this stunner!
My spouse wants an E-Class. I’m pushing for the GLE coupe. More ground clearance to get in the driveway and the hatchback. It’s honestly so ridiculous that I love it.

SUVs are great at traversing snowmelt caused by SUVs. 😀 I do think they’re popular with an aging population because the ride height provides easier ingress/egress. PS. I’m waiting for a SportFront.

Yes, here in the UK we pronounce coupe correctly. We also pronounce Porsche correctly. You guys use the A the wrong way round.
Actually you say Porsche wrong, it's a proper name.
@@Motormouth... i know. It's only recently we started pronouncing. I'm too old to change now. But it's funny how you say Porsche coupe compared to us. I don't think you get French brands Renault and Peugeot. No one knows the right way of saying them.
In Audi Q8 do have a bit of space problem with large stroller bags and other misc items in the back but looks outweigh the benefit of boring looking Q7. In Merc Mr. Zack is right regular Gle looks better and this version is odd

That's too bad you have missed a lot of content. I'd certainly take the regular GLE. This thing doesn't drive like a coupe and it doesn't have the full practicality of an SUV. They charge you more, for less.
I prefer the regular version. IMHO, very few car manufacturers are able to pull off that type of body style,
The non coupe Benz looks way better but with Cayenne both look great and they offer more reliability and better resale!

For me, the best looking of this genre are the Porsche Cayenne Coupé and the Infiniti QX 55.
Find it odd that you like the trackpad in this but hate the one in the Lexus products……

Most useless classification of vehicle in my opinion. Just get the regular SUV if you need the room or get a coupe if you don’t. Why make both worse by combining them?

When it comes to interiors the GV70 is still king. IMO this one is just too busy. Sometimes less is more and simplicity goes a long way. Just my honest opinion.
Intelligent package vs Premium package, does either of you consider themselves the Total package?
I’d venture to say the Q8 (particularly the RS) would vie with the Cayenne for best looking of its ilk, I find the other two German “coupe” SUV’s quite unattractive but as always style is subjective I guess.
To be honest, the only SUV coupe that looks good is the Audi Q8 with its more squared roofline similar to Q3. X4/X6, GLC/GLE and Cayenne coupes are all ugly as sin. You are losing both passenger and luggage space, and ugly styling compares to a more practical version. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Its an subjective factor.
Its the one that started the whole SUV coupe trend, that still looks stunning today. Original Infiniti FX35/45 remains a looker today, its successor had become uglier.

Benz and BMW are great luxury cars but I will not buy one. Maybe lease one for 3 yrs and call it done.

Perhaps, as these are not coupes as coupes have only 2 doors, car makers should call them "coupe -like" which is more accurate. Maybe call them "sling backs" like a woman's shoe? Lol
