Its crazy to think that the last original ride was Expedition Everest in 2006 for Disney World. Even crazier is that for Disneyland it was opening day 2001 California Adventure.
Good! They Deserve it for Focusing on IP-Based Investments for their Disney Parks and Replacing Many Original Rides into IP Rides, like The Great Movie Ride that was Replaced by Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. They Need to Focus on Building Original Rides instead of Having Them Being IP because Original Rides like Space Mountain, If You Had Wings, Journey into Imagination, Horizons, etc. was what made the Disney Parks so Special, not IP Rides!
I just can't for the life of me understand why Disney feels like everything HAS to be based off of an I.P. 🤷♀ In my opinion many of their best rides and attractions (most notably at EPCOT during the Eisner era) aren't based on an I.P. whatsoever, and even some of them that were still had a lot of effort put into them where it felt like an experience first, merchandise-revenue stream second. It's all just terribly assembly-line, instant oatmeal, one-hour photo depths of interchangeable and boring to me.
And THIS is why original conceptd should always reign in a theme park. And usually if it is IP, it’ll have at least some creative ideas inside to make it immersive or engaging.
Great vid a lot of great info that I didn’t know about as well keep up the good work with that being said all though I agree with 95% of what you said the other 5% I wanna speak on and nitpick about lol. For #1 I know you weren’t too serious about Disney is gonna run out of movies and they’re gonna have to empty the vault i know you we’re exaggerating a lil bit but in response to it anyhow Disney has 129 movies they’ve made as well as 8 in production (via Google) I think they’re good if they’re were to do a “All IP” them park. You could even stretch out alot of the IPs (especially the really popular ones) and give them their own land like Agrahbah from Aladdin, Pride Rock from Lion King, you can even make a huge shared Jungle from their popular movies that have jungles in them like Jungle Book or Tarzan I mean the possibilities are endless if they do it right…..and that’s really the issue if these recent movies were iconic and the rides were to match the movies iconic aura then you people obviously wouldn’t complain and there would be no point of you making this video fair enough? Which leads me to my final point…….UNIVERSAL!!! 😄isn’t it kinda hypocritical that Universal who’s literal reason for existing is to “Ride the movies” or other words ride the IPs how come it’s ok for them to do it and not Disney? Why, just because Disney started off making Original content? As a business it’s not really smart to the stay the same and not go with the times or your product will get stale, and yes you make a valid point Disney set the standard for theme parks but that’s because of Walt and the Imagineers wonderful ideas. But that OG class is mostly dead and gone and this new crop of Disney execs don’t know sh** about Walt’s vision so what are they supposed to do ya know. So I don’t blame them for being kinda reactionary and going with the times and pretty much following behind Universal being the new standard (Microsoft use to run the world of computers now it’s Apple, times change) now it’s either that or die, and you gotta remember they have the stock holders to think about they have to keep them happy so…idk I’m rambling but great vid bro.
Also what they could do is if they were to go back to their old ways and make original content but still wanna do IPs. Since they (former CEO Michael Eisner) copied and stole the plans for Universal Studios to make Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios) they can just dump all their new IP based rides and attractions in Hollywoods Studios and start doing original content in their other parks. There problem solved Disney hire me!! 😂
