Easily in my DM top 10. The layering is incredible, the beat hypnotic and Dave's voice is perfection

Depeche Mode moving forward from the 80s into the 90s. Violator is such a great album.

What a tune. One of my all time favourites

The song was actually about Martin's alcoholism - but the parallels with Dave's struggle are obvious. The bass line was inspired by One of These Days by Pink Floyd.

True story. While attending my undergrad and prior to medical school, I was an EMT in Los Angeles. I actually was called to the scene when Dave Gahan overdosed. Ive been a fan since 1981 and upon arriving, I was taken aback thinking "Wow this is Dave". It wasn't quite like the media reports. Dave did die, but it was closer to three minutes. Fast forward 1997, I had finished my cardiology internship and a colleague knew Fletch (RIP). We went to the House of Blues and saw Dave again and we talked about that day and he's very interesting and quite funny. But I think you should listen to the acoustic version of Clean.

Gahan was in serious trouble for quite some time. He became a lock-in, and waited for his drug dealer to knock on the door every day -- climbing into his wardrobe (because it made the world more manageable) and watching the weather channel on his television in there all day because he found it comforting). Often he would be accompanied in the wardrobe by a giant, cuddly toy Bugs Bunny that would become very animated, giving him advice and breaking out to walk around his bedroom getting angrier and angrier with him. His behaviour at recording sessions became more and more erratic, and then he OD'd. Luckily, he survived all that to write this haunting song.
The "Sometimes" is not only a fact, but also a warning. I have a friend (what little is left of him) who completely destroyed his life using drugs. The thing is... you don't do drugs -- they DO you! They're like land-mines -- stay the hell away from them! :0/

I heard a lot of Depeche Mode in the early days but never this one. I believe that they made it quite big in the US and Canada.

Hello ! Thank you for your reaction. I must say until now i never took attention to It but with this listening today i made the musical mood link (for me) with « Cover Me » from their Spirit album or the « I want It all » from « playing the angel » I would love to mix theses tracks … for a space trip…

Nice reaction Hanier Family! Here are two songs that would make great reactions 1. The Clash "Police on my Back". 2. Kaiser Chiefs "I Predict a Riot"!

Hiya, I only discovered your TH-cam channel very recently and am loving it x Would love to see your George Michael reactions. I would recommend ALL of George's song but then I am very biased!! Suggestions that come to mind are Spinning the wheel, Patience (from the Patience album) Cars and Trains, Mother's Pride, Fastlove.....the list is endless. I'm sorry that things are tough for you right now, wishing you both good health, wealth and happiness for the near future and beyond ❤

it's a real shame in the end, because he could have finished this on the synthetic bow without turning down the volume.
