Somehow this was more helpful than several 10+ minute tutorials I've watched. Loved the single camera angle and to-the-point narration of what you were doing.
I found lifting the lever back up, pulling the pressure gauge out and putting it back in, then lowering the plunger one more time will eek out that last bit of liquid that is stuck in the chamber. Gives you a totally clean puck
@@arthurerby2466 No, what I do is make my shot and then I purge the rest of the water into a purge cup with the method mentioned above. Except now I found out all I have to do is have the lever all the way up for a few seconds because there's enough of a gap to let the remaining water settle
I really like the Flair 58. I think the espresso is as good or better than many of the machines I have owned (Astra Gourmet, LM GS3, Londinium L1). I currently have a Salvatore semi auto at my main home, and use the Flair at our weekend home. When I retire (soon), I may sell the Salvatore and use the Flair exclusively. I also love that it is low maintenance!
@@johnrbh Thanks for your info. Have you tried pulling shots without inserting the top screen? Based on video I see it can get a little messy when trying to separate it from a hot puck...or maybe you found a way around it?
No, I always use the top screen. I have been playing around with a paper filter at the bottom of the portafilter with very nice results. You get a bit more flavor, and need to grind finer. There have been a few TH-cam vids about this.
Looks like 10 bars because of the angle. Was actually at 9 bars. More recently I have been pulling shots at about 8 bars and getting 35 grams closer to 25 sec.
@@MAYKELW0LF very fine using my monolith. I do not use the stock “high flow basket” which is what they supplied my 58 when it first came out. I used a low flow basket. I think they typically supply a low flow and high flow basket. I typically used 19g in, 35 out
Wow! Let’s see, I have 2 Salvatore semi auto and a Londinium L1. Before these I had a GS3. The Flair 58 is making comparable espresso!. Of course, my grinder is a Monolith…what grinder do you use??

@@slenderMax28 thanks for the comment! The Flair 58 is such a nice machine, but a lot of people have problems with it.

So you try and extract more espresso with as much pressure as you can force productively killing a good shot

Scale is very cost
Did worth it
Iam confused between lunar and tiny2s
Because diffrent of price
Need your advise
The scale is excellent quality and will last a long time. I have owned mine many years and no problem. I’m my opinion it is worth the money.
Nice Breitling watch!
Aerospace! Need to do another vid…will wear my Pepsi!
Is there a reason to not put less liquid? That is if you are consistently flushing liquid out every time after you extract
I suppose it could be done, but the machine was designed to be used this way.
Love it but I steam my milk. What do you flair 58 folks do for lattes and cappuccinos?
Lots of options
The Breville Milk Cafe is an excellent option for latte art foam. It heats and froths.
Hey Robert, is the machine serving you well? Are you happy overall? Would appreciate update after 2y of using it.

Fellow Sconnie espresso enthusiast coming to say nice set-up!
Hey, Robert. Are you able to remove the water reservoir to weight liquid going in?
I just fill the reservoir to the top, pull my shot to the desired weight, usually 35g
I wonder, do you use Flair Royal Grinder? At what setting is that grind?
No I don’t. Use Monolith conical.
What basket did you use?
It’s a Londinium basket, low flow. Most low flow baskets work fine.
From 18gr of beans im getting always 50-55gr of coffee, why😅?
In how much time? May need to grind finer, or use a low flow basket
feels like too fine with almost 10 bars 37 seconds, I would suggest grind just a bit coarser
