Riding in Singapore: Coast to Coast | Solo ride | Full pavements/PCN | 48KM version

  • Hi Everyone!
    I attempted the Coast to Coast trail in Singapore, from Hougang (Northeast) to Jurong (West) with some detours. The whole route was 48km long including the parts where I got lost (spoiler alert - at Bukit Brown Cemetery). This trail was designed for hiking and it is indeed more suited for walking, with some construction works and narrow pavements expected along the way. Ride safe if you do try this out!

    I somewhat did a shorter version of this as I was going from from North East to Botanic Gardens. Encountered the same issues with the map routing from Macritchie Reservoir to Botanic Gardens! Went along Lornie Highway to Adam Road, found that a bit more palatable.

    At the path where you were pushing your bike, you were supposed to be on the other side.
    If you are on the correct side, the one at the carpark entrance of the MacRitchie Reservoir, there will be no dead end but you will be able to smoothly transit to lornie pcn.

    You were at Macritchie but my guess is you crossed over to follow the traffic? You should not have to but just continue where you will reach the lornie PCN. When you reached the dead end its actually ok to go by the road because Lornie road is very quiet now since they built the highway. You can go back to the pavement once you come out of the tunnel.

    Use the path on the left at the entrance of Marcritchie Reservoir, stay on the left & you will eventually reach an exit and on your right is the Lornie Road PCN.

    I always go cycling along the way from the east coast to marina bay at night . After watching your video, I am admiring your braveness to dare to explore the ways by yourself. Although It is the wrong navigation given by google maps,you could keep calm by yourself, Need to learn from you, can't wait to try it by myself.

      i love solo rides! started off with ECP to MBS too, slowly venturing to places I've never been. Do your research and go in the day just in case you need some help along the way! Yeah staying calm after entering bukit brown was... much needed. the cool drink at starbucks helped haha

    So in Singapore, you cannot bike on the road? I notice you are taking the pedestrian/sidewalk lane.

    • @avchiang
      @avchiang  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! You can ride on the roads too (apart from tunnels and highways). I’m not confident of riding on the roads so sticking to sidewalks and bicycle paths where available!
