Terry, #1 I thing I want is a simple flip up or slide up cover that goes over the gimbal/lens and locks and protects the head so you can then actually put it in your pocket. Right now cannot just throw the Pocket 3 into your pocket as is, or it may damage/break the gimbal head. I have an Ulanzi after market cover but it's a hassle always having to stop, dig it out, use both hands to snap it on and pocket the pocket. Need a simple one thumb/finger flip or slide to do the same. EDIT to add: Get your hands on a VIVO X200 Pro and compare to iPhone. Cheers
Definitely. Ruggedize it. Waterproof it. Tank it so that it's super durable. Keep it pretty small. Throw a camera on there that has two different FOVs. Wide and Medium. Price it for "enthusiasts"......it'd take over the world probably.
There are some people whose videos you should not watch if you're trying NOT to buy something...You sir...are one of those people. Dangit! Now it's in my cart. I've got content to make for Jesus! Thank you!
Bro! I have been thinking the same thing since day 1. I love the Pocket 3 and will continue to use it as it is amazing and very convenient. I also realized the opportunity for DJI to create a "pro" version. Like you said, I'd be happy with a larger version with a second or even third focal length. (20mm & 50mm would be great). I also thought about the idea of a larger sensor for even better image quality and low light performance. DJI has the Zenmuse camera units for the Inspire drones . What if they made the "pro" similar to those? Those even have interchangeable lens and a micro 4/3 sensor. Somewhere in between could be a great option for creators to have the quantity they need but with way more efficiency and convenience when out shooting. I'd be happy to pay $1200+ for something like that. Great video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.
Just found you and yes, louder for the DJI engineers in the back! I've said this since day one with my original Osmo. I don't mind the larger photosites, and for a Pro variant, I'd like to see even better low light capabilities. I've always envisioned a Osmo Pro falling between the original Osmo size and the Pocket size. The rosette mount on the side of the original worked well, so I'd say one on each side and underneath. Slightly larger pan tilt sweep motors for better stability, basically a cheaper than Ronin 4D car mount system that gives us higher usable speeds for mounted work. I feel like the current sensor behind a short throw zoom and the main sensor could be a 12mp 5.3K at larger than 1 inch. Native resolutions with ability to sweep the camera pod vertical. At around $1200-ish I feel like it would be the ultimate wedding videographer run and gun, especially if you can do the wireless mics and a 3.5 for a small shotgun mic for ambient/backup or timesync. I dont feel like thats too much to ask for an Osmo Pro V1. Sure a global shutter and ProRes would be great, but would add greatly to the cost. Maybe a paid upgrade for ProRes could be floated if you don't need it initally, but want to add later. Record directly to SSD from USB-C would be cool too. Take my sub!
I wish they'd make an Osmo 2, a successor to their original DJI Osmo gimbal camera combo. Imagine an Inspire camera built in the gimbal with a 3" screen. It would have vertical integration, wireless connectivity, weather sealing, adjustable focal length and focus, etc. It's just wishful thinking of course
Only reason I haven't purchased this it that it's not waterproof. I don't need it to be rugged, just useable outside when it's raining without having to worry about frying it
Totally agree with at least some water protection - I visited Thailand two weeks ago and I was at the beach, and big wave came, hit my knee and a few drops must have gotten behind the screen and it was enough for the camera to fail...on the first day... (happily I had my Pocket 1 and Action 2 as a backup), but I was ready to test some new ND filters and make some really beautiful shots. Unfortunately, not this time....
DJI did have an Osmo Pro originally. The best edition of it had interchangeable lenses! It used Cinema DNG! They made a demo film with it & I 11:45 believe had Justin Timberlake was in it. The technology was used on their top level drone!
Yup. I have the DJI Osmo Pro sitting in a closet. It's not really all that old... Just the slightest research would really help some of these TH-camrs...
Just buy a gimble for your iPhone and shoot raw with the black magic app, three lenses,or use a mirror less camera with changeable lenses, that’s the next step up if you are outgrowing the osmo 3.
Love your videos Terry! They help out a lot! There is some kind of workaround for shooting 4K in portrait mode with the pocket 3. Instead of holding it normal, hold it 90° to the right. The camera will also spin 90°. Tadaaah, 4k in portrait 😉
right there with ya on the requests! P3 is very capable, but quickly hit it's max potential, def frustrating... just a matter of time before they release a dual-camera compact gimbal; What's your best guess Terry re: focal range when they roll this out - think we'll see a (roughly) 15mm + 35mm, or do they go with ~24mm and second cam be in the ~50mm range? I see the pros and cons to both for sure. Sidenote: DJI if you're reading this - would be baller if you made dual camera record happen on setup like this; there are a LOT of situations where I'd love to have 2x different focal lengths from the same viewpoint being recorded 😉
suppose you can't rule out a zoom rather than dual camera, just wouldn't want to lose IQ or wider aperture. I'd be good for up to prob $1500 for a sweet little 20mm - 40mm f2 on a M43 sensor, and handful of pro features. would be legit creator stick for sure ...
man, I love my Pocket 3, super versatile camera. couldn't agree more, 50mm lens for some juicy broll would be more than welcome, as I often find myself shooting Broll on my phone and trying to match colors in post😃
I agree 100%. And something else should be : NO INTEGRATED BATTERY. Because of the battery problem and the lack of a variable aperture, I didn't buy the osmo pocket 3.
There's one limitation that (Iguess) could be fixed via firmware: The longest exposure is 1 second. I wish the Osmo Pocket could go down to 3 or 4 seconds shutter speed. DJI could manufacture a "2 X" lens. That would be easy for them to do, but all they give us is an even wider lens. I understand this camera is oriented to the vloggers, but I think I could use my Osmo Pocket a lot more if I had a longer lens option. It would be good if DJI listened to this video!
Great ideas, that's is a heck of a wish list for sure, but I don't think we will see it in regards to adjustable apertures and lenses. I think it would just make the Pocket, well, NOT POCKET anymore. More likely they stick with lenses IMO that will give us different mms. The weather seal would be wicked sick. The only thing sus though is those ZUCK glasses, "WHAT ARE THOSE" lol. Just playin'. All wonderful ideas and it would be interesting to see a dual lens head! One other thing you may want to add is the case, its is the worse part of the P3. Keep up the good work mate.
I think that DJI could make a pro Osmo pocket that is roughly the size of the original Osmo. They could fit a lot of technology in an osmo that size. It would seem like they could have everything you mentioned and more. The right features would have folks reaching for the osmo over full size mirrorless cameras and I think folks would pay a premium for those features.
Ayo imagine a DJI Pro version of this where its literally the triple camera set up of the Mavic 3 Pro. Maybe update the 70mm and 166mm to 1 inch sensors 😭
@@stowgood it'd still be the same size as a normal mirrorless camera but with a BUILT IN gimbal. It would fit great between a pocket 3 and DJI ronin 4d
I made a video about a Dji patent application a couple of years ago. That application seemed to be a DJI Action 2 on a kind of smartphone gimbal. That might be a possible future direction - having a gimbal mechanism on which interchangeable camera heads could be mounted. At the time it was thought that the patent application related to the unannounced Pocket 3... wrong!

If you shoot outside with bright light and set your lower shutter, use ND filter. Otherwise camera will set aperture to the narrowest which will not give you a burry effect.
I love the pocket 3 but I feel its sweet spot is vlogging. The lens is too wide. I’d love a second lens a 35’ or 50’ that lets take better b roll without a person on the screen.
DJI already made this camera... It was called the Osmo Pro. I have it. Me and like 10 other people... It didn't sell well. Why? Because it was expensive, large and you had to know how to operate a camera to use it effectively. Interchangeable lenses and the whole nine... Heck, DJI made several Osmo cameras before giving up and moving to the Action cam/Pocket route with the Osmo line. How about you buy a Ronin RS3 Mini and a Sony ZTE 10 (or other compact)? Maybe, you already have one? If not, there are several options out there... You could mount your phone as a screen and use it as a large "Pocket 3 Pro". Hahaha!
You have a lot of great ideas. I like most of them except for the megapixel. When you increase megapixel you lose light sensitivity and that takes away the benefit of DJI osmo pocket 3.
I've used the Pocket 2 and the Pocket 3, and the 3 is far more capable than the 2. That being said, the updates you suggest would drive the cost way above $1000..
But... it would be the Pro version, sold alongside the normal version, to a smaller number of buyers who want pro features. Sadly camera manufacturers have started using the "pro" title for whatever the next slight upgrade to their range is. Let's keep "pro" professional!
I use my P3 almost every day. for some reason shooting vertical using the wireless mic only records in mono when I bring it into my editing, have to always change it to stereo. works ok filming horizontal. really odd. lol it would be nice to film 4k vertical though overkill for most platforms that use vertical. I love this camera though mostly.
I have the P3 as well and shoot videos every now and then but i would love to get into content creation. I don’t know how to colorgrade and the process that goes through it (i do understand the difference between different color profiles). I was wondering do you colorgrade your videos? If so, what software do use for color grading? Also do you have any TH-cam channel recommendation for learning colorgrading?
@@fotogralex I thought it was set to stereo it is odd sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't I find if I am doing vertical 3 k format and using the wireless mic it shows up as mono, i just charge it in editing.
You are asking for an updated DJI Osmo. We don't want another DJI Osmo!. I had it and it was just too big to be portable. Sure, they can add the camera's like the Air 3S, but then it wouldn't be as convenient to carry around. I get where you are going though. I don't think it would sell.
Yeah I've been blabbering on tons of youtuber videos and to my friends that the next Pocket will have a mavic 3 lens setup - and be prob like 2k$, but it will change everything.
Every time I see these videos I see that the influencers already have info that something is coming...lol cough cough embargo..start the hype...increase the price...I worked in marketing..I cant say what I saw recently but I saw something with rotating lenses attached to something..Osmo pocket 3 is recycled drone cameras that weren't used....also the dual lens and adjustable aperture is possible if they use the mavic 3 pro and other pro version "drone" cameras that are on the drones..it is possible to make it...just a bit larger with the drone camera.. It can still be compact... It just won't fit in your pocket
@@TerryWarfieldin marketing we ask to sew the seed.. Not necessarily an embargo.. an embargo with entail something that's actually made.. But to sow the seed the marketing companies I've worked with asked to sew the seed..
@@TerryWarfieldI'm expecting you'll be one of the first to release a video once whatever's made is released you'll have your hands on it beforehand.. which is great
@@rezjrprod yeah well you are still wrong. DJI did not ask me to make anything. I made this video because me and a couple of my creator friends want a pro version. The most effective way we can get our point across is to get a community rallied behind an idea with a video. The company then does market research to see if it’s a viable product and then goes from there. Sometimes we see our ideas as a community make it into production, a lot of times we don’t. Some of this misinformation y’all spew is nonsense.
No more Pro. We don't need anymore devices with the Pro name after it. IPhone Pro sounds so stupid. There's nothing Pro about it. Why not have just one decent DJI Pocket device. I use my pencil for work when drafting, is that a Ticonderoga Pro pencil?
It is inconvenient in contrast to the view of all youtubers like to say and also uncontrollable. The regular camera ie A7 siii although heavier but by far very easier to shoot and focus.
Would love to have a monitor that attached to the side think of drone remote screen. ORRRR Micro / Mini oR Full HDMI Out (even if it was an adaptor) Por Favor @dji

Let’s get Terry to 100k, hit that button people. ☑️🔥🔥🔥
I would like RAW and global shutter please 😂
Love your video's!! So that's +1 subscriber 😉
I'd be very happy with the weather seal alone and maybe some cold shoes on the side.
Get my replasment batery in next generation!
Forgot about that!
1-3 times optical zoom is what it needs
I’d rather a longer lens. Optical zoom doesn’t change the perspective or compression like a longer lens would give you
@@TerryWarfield a 24-70 changes compression which is an opitcal lens.
What camera would you recommend if you vlog and do talking head videos ?
This is a fantastic camera for both
@@TerryWarfield thank you for responding would this be your number one choice ?
Subscribed! I don't want any feelings hurt. Great video!
I've used the Pocket 2 and the Pocket 3, and the 3 is far more capable than the 2. That being said, the updates you suggest would drive the cost way above $1000..
I’ve had all the pockets. And I’d gladly pay a grand for a pro version
@@TerryWarfield Then you're not the target audience for the "Pocket" device then...
But... it would be the Pro version, sold alongside the normal version, to a smaller number of buyers who want pro features.
I love this camera though mostly.
question, since im planning to buy one, can you change it from mono to stereo straight out of cam? or you need an editing software / app from DJI?
I have the P3 as well and shoot videos every now and then but i would love to get into content creation. I don’t know how to colorgrade and the process that goes through it (i do understand the difference between different color profiles). I was wondering do you colorgrade your videos? If so, what software do use for color grading?
Also do you have any TH-cam channel recommendation for learning colorgrading?
@@fotogralex I thought it was set to stereo it is odd sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't I find if I am doing vertical 3 k format and using the wireless mic it shows up as mono, i just charge it in editing.
mono to stereo is fixed in new firmware
i need them to make the minimum focusing distance to be tighter. and i need at least, iphone like photography
I pretty much use it for the gym and vlogging. If they make a pro, I’ll probably get it too 😂
Same. Did you see my Osmo video in the gym?
@@TerryWarfield Sure did. That’s what convinced me that I needed one for the gym!
If they give us nothing but the dual lens that would be huge. If they made it rotate for vertical video that would suffice for years.
Bro FACTS
You are asking for an updated DJI Osmo. We don't want another DJI Osmo!. I had it and it was just too big to be portable. Sure, they can add the camera's like the Air 3S, but then it wouldn't be as convenient to carry around. I get where you are going though. I don't think it would sell.
I think the level of tech they have they could for sure make it much smaller than the original osmo
I keep on wondering if it’s worth buying, or better to get a go pro. No ideal one exists, but one can hope one is coming :D
For vlogging and content creation Osmo HANDS down
@@TerryWarfield Better weather sealing and night mode and I’m sold! 😂
@@missoya there’s no perfect camera unfortunately. The Osmo is a beast in low light also
Yeah I've been blabbering on tons of youtuber videos and to my friends that the next Pocket will have a mavic 3 lens setup - and be prob like 2k$, but it will change everything.
Yep. I’ll throw my wallet right at it lol
I'd buy a second one with 85mm lens
Osmo Pocket FX3 Pro
Built in ND filters.
Damn to think I made this exact same video on my channel this morning, great minds think alike! 😅
Subscribed. Thanks for the great content brotha.
24mm-70mm with adjustable aperture & Bigger screen price range $1000-$1200

Every time I see these videos I see that the influencers already have info that something is coming...lol cough cough embargo..start the hype...increase the price...I worked in marketing..I cant say what I saw recently but I saw something with rotating lenses attached to something..Osmo pocket 3 is recycled drone cameras that weren't used....also the dual lens and adjustable aperture is possible if they use the mavic 3 pro and other pro version "drone" cameras that are on the drones..it is possible to make it...just a bit larger with the drone camera.. It can still be compact... It just won't fit in your pocket
Yep. Well you are 100% wrong. I have no info on anything new and if I was under embargo for something trust me to wouldn’t be making this video
@@TerryWarfield see ya soon. Gonna be interesting to watch
If it aint broke, dont fix it.
New lens? New sensor? Basically osmo pocket 4 lol.
They’re working on it 2 cameras
DJI.... We need to focus on our drones ,
Sorry
Or maybe another manufacturer will made better professional pocket camera, instead of waiting DJI to do that.
We need 8k
Sup Early crew? :)
Ayeeeee
I got pocket 2. I see NO difference with 3 in good light the IQ. Seriously,!
Interesting. Time to comparison search as I can't justify the price on the 3.
I have 2 and 3 and love both. I abandoned 2 for a while, but then came back and the quality and portability of version 2 is also fantastic
Yeah that’s your opinion not mine. I love mine
Would love to have a monitor that attached to the side think of drone remote screen. ORRRR Micro / Mini oR Full HDMI Out (even if it was an adaptor) Por Favor @dji
STOP shilling for chinese eletronics brands FFS!!!!
