    I have to say I enjoy your videos very much, over many of the others I watch.
    I had a stroke about two years ago causing my hands and arms to shake a lot.
    My uncle taught me when I was 11 years old, starting with control lines a nice old ringmaster. Still have it.
    Still have mainly balsa, however you are making me think foam as well.
    Using RealFlight, I have had lots of difficulty with my shaking to fly.
    Watching you fly and many of the tips you give have helped me greatly and now even with the shaking I can take off and land as well as do some maneuvering.
    Practice helps a lot also!
    Thank you very much,
    Tracy

    • @HciContractor
      @HciContractor ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know damn well you can still fly and probably better than myself Tracy.
      These new planes with Safe mode will smooth out any shaking issues you may have. You could always try a foam trainer to start or even the umx turbo timber is surprisingly easy and flys so slow with the flaps it's a blast! They make that Timber on a larger plane as well. Let us know how you do!

    Great video Brian! Especially the encouragement you give the newbies about maintenance and repair. If a man learns to maintain and repair he will have an extra million at the end of his life. Which he will leave to his daughter who will spend it in a season...Way it goes. Retired army and schooled on my father's cattle ranch about what works... stays, what doesn't work... goes, and don't take long deciding. Joined US Army 1973... the US Army was big on maintenance, and my prize vehicle, as a Company Commander in 7th Corp Europe, was our M35A2 supply truck... the Data plate said rebuilt in 1962, I commanded in 1990. It was rebuilt at depot. I figured it was an old WWII M35 that probably was used on the Red Ball Express, and after the occupation came the cold war and this old truck was handed down from supply sergeant to supply sergeant, and in 1962 they converted them all from gas to Diesel. So if that truck was built in 1943, it served for over fifty more years... the benefits of maintenance, maintenance intervals. Young soldiers abuse trucks; drive them to fast slam on the breaks take the terrain too rough. Never saw an M35 fail, seen plenty of failed soldiers. I am sure that old truck is still somewhere in Europe today bringing toilet paper and turkey wings to some lucky stinking dog faces. Folks, once you learn maintenance, you are good to go. You never learn maintenance, you will always throw money away. Once again, great coaching and mentoring video Sarge!!! Love and Peace in his name, Amen. Born in Louisiana, loved by Mom, disciplined by my tough arsed Dad, saved by my precious Savior!!!

    Total video Sir. Could be titled from Zero to Hero. I love watching your repair work. I hate that there was a crash. But all is good in the end. FMS has put together another nice looking plane. I’m not going to knock the reflex. But in the future I’d lean more towards the Spektrum Receivers with Safe and AS3X. Thank you for sharing this one with us all.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      100% the SAFE and AS3X is more rock solid, but it does take a BIT more work. I've noticed the Auto-Leveling and limited bank and pitch angles are more refined on AS3X/SAFE, but Reflex makes it more affordable, and it's "good enough" for most ;)

    Unusual for an FMS model to come damaged in the box! BUT, I had a similar, but worse experience with mine. It came in the box broken in half just aft of the canopy before the tail assembly. The box and packing and outer box were all in mint shape. but the fuse was in two pieces. I took a picture w my phone before I removed it, sent pic to FMS, but they said I must have done it. I have since repaired it and bought another fuse for a spare. I've gotten the usual dinged wing and dented fuse from shipping damage, but this was a first. Still love FMS planes, but I think I'll order them from the hobby shop so I can see it first

    Hey Brian, Great video. Plane looked fantastic. Like you, I love realistic scale warbirds and have a few as well. I'm very surprised your zero flew so well with the stock motor and 2S battery set-up. I have the FMS P40 800mm version and found it was way under powered with the exact same motor and with a lighter 800 2S battery. I was trying to hand launch it and was very unsuccessful. So I installed a Detrum 2815 1100kv motor, with a 800 3S battery and a scale (9x6) three blade prop, since the factory prop is smaller than scale. After those mods, the plane flies fantastic and performs great aerobatics.
    I also read several post from other pilots that found the same under power issue with many of the FMS 800mm warbirds. Some pilots try to use the factory motor with a 3S lipo, but the motor overheats. That's why I put a larger and more powerful motor with a larger, but scale prop to give me more thrust.
    Thanks for the great videos!

    I have the T-28 in this size class. Great flyer! I have noticed that the props are quite fragile but the airframe is very resilient. Other than that, I wish FMS would use a slightly thicker plastic for the cowling because if you look at it crosswise it cracks. I'm been flying it with 3S batteries and no issue. Helps in the thin air here in Denver.

    What happened to the power lines across the street from your driveway?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We paid the utility $24,263 to move the primary service (power lines) underground, from over-head. We just paid them $35,000 a little over 3 years ago to put them over-head (well, to be totally clear, we paid $25,000 of the $35,000, as our neighbors to the North covered part of it too). The utility refused to bid the underground service at the time we got the power pulled down the street - what a joke, right!?!?
      We did it MORE for PPG, so I can help prevent my death in a failed landing or takeoff, but it has the added benefit of better clearance for flying RC and for beauty! That was something we didn't realize would happen...it's so much better! Just wish they would have bid what we wanted when we first hired it done...would have potentially saved us tens of thousands...

    So you just use foam to foam and not pin with multiple toothpick for strength? Wow, I’ll have to check that glue out.
    EDIT- Now I see you went back and added some toothpicks, but that glue looks pretty strong! I’ve put in pins prior to joining and then connect, but your way gives a more exact fit before pinning and avoids the slight offset when things don’t align. 🫡
