Ha, that screwdriver looks like just what I've wanted. I jumped to buy one as soon as I saw the ad, now back to finish watching the video.😂
Update: I got the driver and I like it, but it's not really tool box worthy. It feels good and would be good to have around the home or in an office drawer (unless you're good at making some kind of pouch or holder for it).
The cap comes off easy. Mine fell off in my garage and bounced somewhere, I couldn't find it! 😅
I'll be conducting a thorough search today!
Bought one the last time you were pimping them; they really come in handy even though it wasn't quite what I hoped.
You forgot the blocking on the rim boards parallel to the joists, they are unsupported except by the subfloor, big no no! the rimboard by itselt isn't enough to transfer the load down.
Bought 1. Amazon did not honor code, but no prob. Great channel!!😅
@@patrickkenny2077 got mine this morning. Yes, there is room for improvement but it's ok for the price. Does the job.
This is the first time that i can remember seeing the 3d render of the home, HOLY MOLY THAT LOOKS AMAZING
This is at 3:45 in the video if anyone’s wondering. I missed it the first time and had to go back and rewatch after reading your comment. 😁
Damn!!!!! That’s not a “house”! It’s a hotel! Or a convention center!!!!! How many people are planning to live there?!?!? 13?!?!?!😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
I think it’s ugly!
@@davidnoyes3373it’s the view looking out what matters,at least to me.
@@jonaslind9505thank you sooo much!
Kudos to Erik and Jamie for finding the source of the squeak.
I wonder how many other builders would have just ignored it.
I’m sure the floor walls would have weighted the floor down…
Pro tip. Slice a tennis ball, approximately 3/5 around the outside. Then you can squeeze it open, like an old school coin purse, and put screws, bolts, notes, etc. inside it and toss it to your partner. Makes it a lot easier to send up small parts, etc.
Excellent suggestion!
Remember the 3 fifths rule
Back in the day people would put them around their whip CB antennas to keep them from scratching their vehicles.
at that point you might as well just keep a small zipper pouch on hand! more secure. maybe not so ergonomic to catch though
@@saint-miscreant Ballistics while in flight are also not great for zipper-bags. So targeting will also be negativly affected by that choice. Balls are pretty much perfect for throwing...
Homeowner is going to have a beautiful home and a beautiful view, I don’t know how it could get much better.
Thanks for including look at 'finished house' [3:46] Helps a lot! Also like that E's videos are always the right amt of personality -- 10%? 15%? Like kid-tee, the "guy-cut" tomato, haircuts, etc. Breaks-up the teaching/learning content. Thx guys.
Guys, you don't need "200' of hose" for volume, just build an auxiliary tank, out of an old propane tank, to plug inline closer to where you need it. Also, if constructed correctly, turn it into a manifold for up to 6-8 lines. We used to use 6" galvanized pipe, with capped ends, and welded rebar on both sides of the manifold air fittings, to protect them from people stepping on them.
You probably just gave Jaime an idea🤣
yep, a big length of hose is just a big pressure drop and very little storage.
200 feet of 3/8 ID hose is 0.000179 gallons
a 20lb propane tank is 4.7 gallons.
you want the shortest reasonable hose run to get the most power out of it.
And another related "pro tip" is to change all your fittings to 3/8 instead of the commonly used 1/4. Then you don't have other trades' guys on the site asking to borrow/break your tools or compressor or hoses because all your stuff is different from theirs.
What a build!! Loving this series and hope it is 200 episodes long!
It's looking like it might be on pace for that
I don't think the homeowner is looking forward to that particular milestone lol
Love how Jamie is always looking to push the crew a step further. Love the attention to detail and the great work ethic of the entire team. You guys rock!!! 👏🏾
Man you need to invest in a palm nailer for those joist hangers. They even make battery versions. Also the make a long tip glue gun will save on the back when applying that advantec glue.
it's amazing to have great dad's that teach us life lessons build every level right
*dads
I was thinking the same thing: I think you alluded to a step-dad, and he is a good guy (you are lucky), but your dad attended Georgia Tech as an architect, and he taught you guys SO MUCH about building. Even I am very thankful for your dad, as he got you to be builders (very good builders) and we ended up with the PBB channel, which is my favorite! Thank you Mr. Perkins!!!
As a roofer from Northern Pennsylvania when we sheet the roof we yell down to the cut man factory left or factory right so they know what side to cut from. It's a little fast than drawing it out. But the more complicated cut it's fast to just draw them out with the numbers on the drawing.. BTW love the videos..
So you call out the side to leave as factory? The example they were looking at would be " factory right" ?
I bought a Fanttik last year when they sponsored you since my current job is repairing computers. It has held up battery-wise and still has a lot of torque, so it is made from good parts.
They make engineered truss joists where the last 4 feet or so is a regular I joist. That way you get the benefit of the open web design of a truss joist but the I joist end can be cut in the field. That would help with those alignment issues! Look up triforce joists
The amount of detail you guy goes into is insane. I haven't seen a builder that goes to that level of "no noise" "It has to be 99% perfect" its insane!. Love the videos!
Thanks for the laughs. Your homeowners will appreciate all your attention detail! ❤️❤️🔥❤️
Wow all that engineering and all that work you guys have to fix. I love my Florida block construction
@8:51 powerful words of wisdom from your father, and awesome to have children that listened to him! ❤💪🏽
Crazy how I don’t do construction or anything similar, yet I enjoy watching u guys. Lol
I sure enjoy watching your videos.
Like that Ray + Johno and sometimes Jason when not being funny, are so solid - all, with their work + facial expressions reinforce what Jamie (Jaime) is explaining. Vids woudn't work w/o those 3 guys!
Just bought 2 of the Fanttik E1 Max as Christmas presents for my children. Thanks for the recommendation. I really enjoy your channel.
Could zip systems put A B C D on the floor boards marking the sides to make it easier for you (and others) to indicate where the cut should be?
Such a pleasure to watch knowledgeable good conscientious builders.
You all are fun and informative. Can you all do a video about fasteners (what you use for different situations and why) and some videos with basic and pro tips for using some of your power tools?
Love my guys!!! Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all
What I love is the attention to detail. Amazing guys, well done.
16:30 you need to get a helical staircase in there! Not only would it meet the needs of the rise and run, but also looks ultra premium and is an amazing feature in a luxury house.
That rendering looks amazing!
Look forward to each video after coming home from mowing lawns all day. Beer and your new videos!! I have many family and friends that work for Huber here in northern Maine. Easton Maine factory. You wouldn't believe the size of the pulp yard,,, acres and acres of stack logs....they put out an unbelievable amount of OSB sheets a day.
Coming together wonderfully!
Pro tip, use acetone while that stuff is still goopy and it will turn that stuff to to liquid for cleaning. Or use the gun cleaner for those foam guns
Your channel is one of the ones I look forward to watching. Glad I found it. I have learned quite a bit, and you are always entertaining.
Great work as usual. It seems as though you all have a good time while working very hard. Love the pro tips. Keep it up!
hey just wanted to mention how me and my crew used to do are roof sheets numbers, the best way we came up with is from the point of view of the guy on the roof, using his right and left, we would call out sheets like 48 L 48 B so left and bottom and thats a easy 45 degree angle, another example is 12 L 8 feet B 48 R, it gets pretty easy once your used to it.
Wow, just seen the render at 3:47 and I can't wait to see it finished! How about staging it before the handover to celebrate getting 1 million subscribers. I would love to see the house styled as a home and you obviously cannot show us the interior after the client moves in for privacy reasons. Just the main areas- living room, dining room, kitchen, primary bedroom and the porch. Anyone else here wanna see this?
*saw
But it's not gonna look like that, right? Because I'm looking at the drone footage at 22:24 and the layout doesn't match up.
@@John_Locke_108I think the render is flipped, but that’s it.
@@RayJones-PBB You sure? I thought the same but spent 5 minute staring at the two images on different screens and I'm not seeing it.
@@John_Locke_108 Ray is building it, so he should know.
Happy Thursday!! Missing the Studpack boys on the jobsite! Loving the build, guys! KUTGW
This build is huge. Enjoy all the videos
I love when Ray gets all bossy with Max 😂😂😂 he really has been ready for a new employee so he's not the lowest rung on the ladder anymore 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing guy's looking great. Take care and be safe.
AWESOME!!! That home is a beauty! Great attention to details and problem solving!! Wonderful video!!
Fixing the hiccups is all part of the job- I’m glad you show those too.
Thanks guys another great episode. I really enjoyed your collaboration with stud pack. It has given me more stuff to binge watch.
Maybe you could do some Viewrail stairs for the staircase. Would fit with the style of home.
I think it is the first time you guys showed the computer animation of the finished house. I must say it will be amazing. Thumbs up!
perfection guys! I'm impressed!
Love your show guys, means a lot when people care, you do great work!
Perfect timing, I have something to watch on my break now! Keep up everything you guys have been doing, y’all are blowing thru this job in my opinion.
Amazing work by the Perkins posse it bloody huge.
Love the rendering of the finished home. Beautiful! (although I'm not sure I'd want the heating/cooling bills with all that glass)
So glad to have found this channel very cool watching these guys build 👍🇬🇧
You say about twisted wood the stuff we get in Bulgaria is like a propeller blade and un treated all sawn not planed great fun to use
I know these were filmed weeks ago and this probably won't help but if you're doing kite winders on the stairs, what about a steel newell post as a central pivot? You could even extent it to the next section of steps if there's another floor. Kind of fits the style of the house too.
You can 100% have the stairs tight together. Its standard where i'm at. Looks and functions totally fine. having the space between does have a grander feel though
Get yourselves a diamond file for your blades, they work a treat 👍
I saw all the blocking for the ledger boards and had an immediate flashback to the Airbnb range hood.
Not only does the laminating of the Hard and the soft steel make the sharpening faster and easier. It also actually reinforces it because hard metals are brittle.
This is a technique that goes back to the Japanese katana. You can also see this in Japanese chisels for example, where one edge bottom is hardened, and actually hollowed out where the rest is soft mild steel.
That tomato is the most delicious one I’ve ever seen. Made my mouth water.
I caught a glimpse of the rendering of the finished house. Would love to see it for a longer period of time on each video. It wasn’t up long enough to get a good look at.
I was waiting to see the sandwich with it! Yummy for the tummy!
great work guys thank you for the awesome video's
Jamie is the best ❤❤
funny how uncomfortable he got that was wearing a kid-size t -- shows he doesn't know how 🔥 he is!!
@@John-sq5dv 🤔🤔
Thanks for showing pic of house it is going be beautiful
I would suggest trying a collapsing foam subfloor adhesive next time you have a finished floor underneath. It comes out as a foam but quickly collapses into a gel so it allows for minimal squeeze out and the wind won’t “push” it off your joist!
You’re dad gave you guys good advice every build starts from the bottom up
This is one of the first times that I’ve seen people actually shooting nails on the pre-marked locations in the Advantech flooring/siding.
“It doesn’t have to be a hotel… any building with stairs.” Lol 😂
That screw driver looks sweet !
I would have left the 2x10 rims a little high. They will shrink as they dry and also compress slightly with the weight of the wall on top, the trusses will not. This is an awesome build, I would not want to be the one having to work out all the fine details and stay ahead of the crew.
Jamie rockin a schmedium @5:02
great job guys, especially on the possible squeak down the road
Jeez someone needs to buy poor Jay a metal connector nail gun.
Or even just a Bostitch palm nailer if Perkins are too tight to buy collated twist nails.
A metal connector (PPN) nail gun will pay for itself on the first job & will be left wondering why you never bought one years ago 🙂
No smashed fingers & also you can get I tighter spaces than you can with a hammer.
Awesome stuff Fellas! 😃👍🏼👊🏼
Fun fact: Laminated plane blades date way back to the 19th century advent of high carbon blade steel in England and Scotland... Blade steel was new and hella expensive, so was laminated to soft steel and ground to size. There are still many examples that crop up with antique tools in the tool collectors market, particularly with fine plane makers such as Norris of Scotland.
BTW, I love how you edited the video to make it look like Jaime was on the deck and on the ground at the same time when he was giving the pro tip on cutting the decking.
Jamie! You’re the best! 😂the shirt, that shirt 😂
The weight of the exterior walls and roof load will compress your dimensional lumber which the trusses won't have. Not to mention the natural drying shrinkage. A 9 1/4" will be 9 1/8 within a year inside an acclimated house.
If/when I move to north Carolina I want Jamie and the PBB crew to build my house. After watching other channels I can't believe how shoddy other builders are 😮
Good luck! These boys are booked for decades! 😅
i wish they would come out with a cordless hand planer that has a spiral head with indexable inserts.
PERFECT LUNCH BREAK VIDEO!
Hello EST neighbor!!😂😂
What do you mean both of you
Every crew needs a Jamie at the helm! He is a genius!
Jamie! 10/10 for the subtle "I don't get pumped about a lot, except pneumatics" joke.
Gotta be the coolest designed house you guys have built so far
It’s the little things that matter!
Love your videos and your fantastic builds! Stud Pack sent me.
love the attention to details. nothing worse than a squeaky floor in a new house
i feel like you probably could have gotten those end trusses with already built into them for that ledger attatchment no?
It’s beyond exciting to watch a new age modern home build that’s not a cookie cutter rectangle. You guys should just build atypical mountain homes as they are far more interesting. I await every new release for this one! That rendering is awesome looking…
Tim at Awesome framers uses a tee 2x6 to beat in the subfloor. No bending over.
If stud pack was there y'all would have walls up there 😊it's looking great
As a buncombe co resident I hope to one day hire or work with these guys
You don't need space between your rising stairs if the handrail is mounted a little bit inwards on the treads. Then you can make a return on the landing and go up again.
This house looks much larger now than I could grasp from just the retaining walls.
Great progress. But the Stud Pack boys are jealous of all that advantek you laid down in this one, LOL! Not many men could wear their kid's t-shirt. You boys are fit.
Happy Thursday!
Good day guys!🇵🇭
0:41 that's great stuff, more like that
I was always told to not slam your subfloor down because it would splatter the glue and cause more squeaks. Not sure how true that is, but I do lay the sheet down slowly now.
Not a bad idea for sure
Tim from AwesomeFramers actually addressed that in a recent video using the same floor system: th-cam.com/video/PzdOXgNiAi0/w-d-xo.html
TL;DR: It doesn't visibly splatter, and he doesn't think it causes any problems. (Hope you don't mind the link to another channel PBB, but I know you guys are friendly with AwesomeFramers so I imagine it's okay).
As a carpenter/builder for decades...Looks sweet! Once you get to the punch list; you're halfway done...:)
Until this episode I had never thought of a sawdust/chips shower by using an electric planer above one's head. Maybe include this technique for your pro-tips in a future video!! Ray
You’ll have to watch how bad it was on Jason’s channel when he releases the video. 🤣
5 inch rise is the best for older you get, TINK about that
You guys need to hire Arlo for a week to come build those stairs
I search TH-cam everyday for an upload! Let’s go!
