    Still using the GT6 in 2024!! I bought one of these around 2006. I still use it when a friend wants to play in my band. It’s easy to adjust parameters. I just set pedals 1-4 from clean to filthy, save, and go!!!
    I have a TONEX for my amp sounds now, but I’m not getting rid of my GT6!!!
    I’ve been playing for almost 30 years now, and I don’t throw out something good just because something new comes along. Having New gear fever doesn’t mean you have to throw out the old good stuff. There are people right now getting rid of boss katana amps because they think they are no good anymore. I will take all unwanted gear, and provide a stable, caring living environment. I love your videos, and I’m picking up an RP 20 tomorrow. The year I graduated, those things were better than beer-flavored boobs.

    The most important thing to remember is to use the output select function (read the manual), more important than you think!

    I’ve used the GT6 exclusively since 2003, running straight into a Marshall LM6100 stack, with the midi channel selection the amp head. I found that in this configuration, it’s a reliable and friendly ‘live’ rig.
    By storing my main live rig settings in the COSM mode, I can record ‘straight in’ for recording sessions, eliminating the need for mic-ing the sweet spot on my cabinet. Love it!!!

      Yep, after reviewing about 100 multi effects units I'd put the GT6 solidly in my top 5, even 15 or so years since its release. Great unit. Not a fan of a champagne paint job though! Gearfacts

    Great job on reviewing this item, I just got one to try out, got rid of the 'Mooer GE200' wanted to go back to live situation. Back to basics more real sounds GT6 definately is a well built machine. I also had a Digitech RP1000 but they have become obsolete also the Library of sounds. So I've gone To Boss. Great sounds Roland!

      Yes, I think the GT6 is truly something special among multi-effects processors.

    I have this multi effect since forever ago, and played in many different bands/genres and this thing is amazing. I always get the tone I'm looking for. Now I'm into worship music and was looking for a modern warm tone, high reverb. And found an amazing tone with a Vox pathfinder 10 - my Gretsch streamliner and this multi effect. Oh man !!! Unbelievable

    I owned one of these just after it was first on the market. Since then I have also owned the BOSS ME80, GT100 and Headrush Gigboard. The GT6 beat them all in its sound, reliability and ease of use...........it is so nice I have just bought another (used) one.

    i find with all makes of multi effects pedals they sound great plugged straight into pc alone great for recording yet plugged into amp set ups different strokes for different fokes depending on your set up some setups multi effects pedal sucks the tone and the amp simulators sound crap on some amp setups but plugged straight into pc soundcard to pc recording studio they sound just like real thing record nicely this why you will see so many mixed reviews with these sort of pedals every one using these things with different gear in a different circumstance will have different experience

      I am cautiously inclined to agree. Every time I listen to recording I've done with the GT6 I always think "Jeez that's really not bad at all". If I ever wasn't sure precisely what to recommend for a person, I'd probably go to the GT6 as a panacea for all guitarists' needs.

    Hi there. I bougth my GT-6 in 2003 in a time when all my musician friends where going "digital sound processor?? nahh, I only use single analog pedals"...never understood that mentallity! (specially because the supposed "analog pedals" had a digital chip to make the FX work). They would prefer to use 15 to 20 pedals (or more) with all the problems that a setup like that brings (batteries diyng, short jacks working bad, bad connections in the circuit, transport, etc, etc) instead of having a wonderfull All-In-One tool with hundreds of potential FX setups...
    Whe are now in 2020 and my GT-6 still works like a charm and still has a wonderfull sound...!!! The same happened when I bought a Marshall Valvestate 2000 AVT275 (150W), "an hybrid amp with only one valve on preamp?? nahh, that sucks!", well, it was one of the best combo's I ever had, simply powerfull with a clean sound, my Stratocaster sounded great with that setup!! It sounded so great that now I'm looking to buy another one! In e-bay they are beeing selled around 250/300€ in perfect condition (pre-owned, off course), it will be my next aquisition!!

    I just purchased the GT-1000. It does have better base sounds, and a much better acoustic simulation, but what it lacks are the cool well thought out modulations and presets of the old Boss units such as this one. I am hoping that with time I am able to create some of these old modulations in the new processor.. Thank you for your videos.

Can you please tell me how to get there?

      @elduderino8494 You're awesome and I love your response. I didn't know how brilliant a machine this was when I was a teen; didn't know what I had, and definitely didn't learn all the features. When I think looper, I think more of a machine that can record multiple loops without limitation on the length of each loop. I don't think the GT6 had this.

    ahah I had one for years. God I really hated it [I didn't have much to chose from back then]. On the plus side, editing it is a breeze. On the downside, only the delay and chorus [IMHO] seemed usable. addressing multiple fx to the EXP pedal is also fun [try doing a fading faux 2 channel with it]. Sold it for a 100 Euros... but to be perfectly honest I don't like the majority of Boss fx and multis [once owning a TC Electronic G-Force rack unit you realize the difference in sound sculpting and quality... but also sold it for less than half of what it cost]

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear what you're saying, for sure. This one is very strong in Modulation effects I think, whereas the Line 6 PODxt Live is stronger in OD and distortion. There are so many options out there, and the technology is only getting cheaper...

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Gearfacts! As for your reverb/chorus issue, no I don't have any idea why that would be happening. It sounds like the two effects are trying to occupy one slot in the effect chain and therefore are cancelling each other out. Might have to dive into the manual for this one. Or do a factory reset maybe :) #Gearfacts

    • @Chipirripi
      @Chipirripi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gearfacts Does it happen in all presets, or just in some or one of them? You can configure any pedal to any effect and even to different ones at once, ands on or off, or even to change values of any parameter. Search the web for the manual. There are lots of possibilities. There's a way to perform a "hard reset" so that you get it to the factory settings, losing all your personal settings in the process, but you can also use a midi cable and a free program to save them first. If you turn it to factory settings that "problem", which I guess is just configuration, should disappear.

      Hmm it's so long ago I'm not sure now. I'd say it was a slightly-altered preset. I have a tendency just to add delay to wah effects because the two just work to well together. So search the presets, it sounded like a cyclic wah rather than pedal-control... find that one and add delay. Sorry can't be more specific, but yeah you're right it WAS a good tone!

What I really missed was crispy basic rock crunch, without extra FX. But on the otherhand I know how to get it on GT-8, so probably it works in GT-6 as well. Cheers!

      @@ValleysOfSaturn Yup the sounds suck on this video. Its cuz even if he had set it to phones out on recording, the choice of cabinet and speaker positioning on the GT6 internally were set so wrong. If im recording with a gt6 I'd try running 3rd party IRs on a computer instead of the internal cab of the gt6. I came here thinking of really buying the gt6 but after hearing such a messed up tone, unsure if its just the maker of this video who doesnt know how to set up his cabsim section or if its really the gt6 that sounds bad.
