I have also studied English on my own and I think that this is the most effective approach in second language acquisition since you can study and research on whatever you want, so you don't have to rely on what the teacher tells you to do in order to improve your language skills, instead you can focus in stuff that you are really interested about such as movies, music and reading stuff that is meaningful to you. I started recently to study chinese as well and I'm planning on using the same approach, let's see how it goes.

Thank you for introducing the book and for the talk. I am studying for DELTA and it is difficult to find sudy material on language acquisition theories that is both recent and accessible to non-linguists. I am Czech and I assume that the author of the book must have come from Czechoslowakia and yet it is virtually unknown amongst the community of (Czech) English teachers here.

Haha! My English composition professor used Bucky through the entire course, 25 years ago.

It's really frustrating that this video doesn't have any subtitles! The speaker mumbles consistently throughout the video; it's very difficult to understand.

You should have shown the picture of Julia, she should be in the Hall of Fame because of her tremendous success and she should be proud of herself and she deserves to be a celebrity.

I thought the point was that nobody knows who she is or what she looks like.

He sounds Aussie & He copies RP with a hint of out dated Victorian English... He says some words like Canadians for example "Many"
