I didnt think it would be worked nice on this pc. Next stop is ps2 ;) i want to know what this pc capable of.
I usually use Launchbox (Windows), Batocera (USB) and plain Retroarch (Ubuntu). I play mostly NES and SNES games (over 40's gamer here!). My main problema how to manage the save games (not the states), between the 3 systems! Is there any easy way to easily manage the save game between different machines???
I dont want to sound stupid, just a bit confused! I can use this as an alternate OS to windows? Obviously without all the windows futures, but i can use batocera 40 as an os just for gaming?
I'm on linux mint and Balena etcher wouldn't work with the image , i kept on getting a metadata error , i had to use the dd command in the console , weird i have used balena etcher many times before with linux images .

It freezes for a second or two then reloads all the systems again, Sometimes when I push Information I see the details pop up but freezes then reloads the systems again (Like when you push update gamelists) I tried updating Batocera to a Butterfly version which was available but that made no difference so I reinstalled Stable V40 it's on a Acer Nitro 5 laptop if that's any help...

Will an update from v39 to v40 work good or better make a fresh v40 drive and then copy stuff from userdata. I‘m asking because i‘m scared of: - Will i loose my „old“ emulators and their settings? - loose my retroarch settings? - loose gamesettings and mapping? - controller setups (wii, wii u) - yuzu and riyunx all settings, krys, firmware (via flatpack) - ps2 bios - rpcs3 settings - emuststion themes, custom images and music? - emustation settings and systems - custom configged shaders
I would personally make a fresh drive in case you lose everything or make a backup. There are no reports as of yet for messing anything up when upgrading to v40.

@@jeroquai3170 if you want the *easiest* way - get another 2TB and use an offline cloner - this is what I do w my 6TB HDD & let it run overnight. then go to town w the upgrade, and if you don't like it, you can just start using the clone. keep the clone around for a few months - a lot of times you won't notice a difference until a few weeks in & even then, it's usually not a full rollback, it's learning how to bring that particular configuration over to v40. good luck!

Sounds like it hasn't partioned itself. Refresh and try again. When it boots up for the first time. You should see a blue window which says partion. Let it auto run.
@JustJamie1983 no blue box, tried this several times, everytime I flash the image regardless of the software I use it takes my 1tb drive down to a 8gb drive, then I recover the drive back to 1tb and it won't boot. I'm at a loss. Can't see any settings on belena etcher. Or others to stop this, and i can't merge the partitions for some reason
I followed the steps provided but have encountered an issue. Batocera won't stop freezing on me. When I quit out of desktop mode, it freezes. When I sync the controller, it freezes. When I try to open the system settings, it freezes. Every single time! And yet this has also happened to me before, with the last setup on the same device. I'm assuming it has something to do with the mini PC I'm currently using, but that's just an assumption. Do you think you can provide me with any solution to this problem?

Hello do you know how to fix black screen after the batocera splash anim? I flashed the latest image to a usb stick and that's all I get on startup (PC Laptop with GeForce GTX 1050)
@@JustJamie1983 well i thought you might have a better bit of help than just reflash, when the flashing and verification went perfectly ok, i have a very common gpu and i thought the whole point of batocera was that it's supposed to be simple plug and play not loads of hassle to even get a bloody picture, im not blaming you it's just annoying and i thought you might know how to fix it
Fixed it! There was an option in Belida needed to unchecked in settings called "Trim unallocated space on raw Images (in ext-type partitions) many thanks for the main vid been super helpful
I have no issues w my 6TB drive. only limitation I'm aware of might be your HDD dock's disk controller might need a firmware upgrade if you use one. my dual dock has a limit of 16TB drives (32TB total) but this is not a limit of Batocera - it's the hardware.
Jamie can u help me with Singe games please? Batocera 40 displays Singe system correctly and shows Singe games, then does parse video but after thet, when game should start, it returns to batocera screen. What am i missing?
I did an Installation usb to my 16 years old pentium e5400 pc. I got the same problem like you. My solution was change the mame core from Auto select core to self selected mame core. I hope it will help to you.!!

I haven't tried it yet but it looks like Syncthing is available in Batocera that may work for this.

that is exactly what it is! an OS just for gaming & if you know what you are doing, you can extend a ton well beyond gaming!

@@MOHAMED_MASRI resolution settings in emustation, developer and system settings and maybe kodi to 1920x1080 60Hz. Do not use „auto“

Yes, it will run fine. Just remember. Mkat higher end systems run much better with a dedicated GPU.
I use Rufus to burn my images, never had any issues
I have heard good things about Rufus.
I also use rufus, etcher always wants to update or reinstall

Like I say. Different manufacturers have different methods. Look up your Motherboard and see how to do it.
