@richevans609 While I don't know who to contact, for sure; I would try going online and looking for a Greyhound Society website, or maybe contact the SPCA or an Animal Protection League, if you're looking for an ex-racing Greyhound.
The push to shut down greyhound racing in New Zealand is misguided and unfair to the dogs, the people, and the sport’s proud tradition. Greyhound racing isn’t just a spectacle-it’s a centuries-old celebration of athleticism, skill, and the bond between humans and animals. Greyhounds aren’t ordinary pets-they’re elite athletes born to run. Anyone who’s watched a greyhound sprinting knows it’s an expression of pure joy and freedom. Critics wrongly claim greyhounds are "forced" to run, but the truth is, they race with passion and instinct. Denying them this is denying their nature. The greyhound racing industry is one of the most regulated animal sports worldwide, with strict welfare standards ensuring dogs are treated with care. Claims of mistreatment are often outdated or exaggerated, ignoring the strides made by trainers, handlers, and professionals to protect the dogs’ well-being. Greyhound racing is also a cultural institution that unites communities, supports livelihoods, and provides joy to generations. Shutting it down would dismantle a cherished tradition, hurt entire regions economically, and strip dogs of their purpose and passion. True animal advocacy means respecting an animal’s nature. For greyhounds, that means running, competing, and living a fulfilled life. The call to ban greyhound racing is not "progressive"-it’s regressive. Instead of bans, better regulation can ensure welfare while preserving the sport’s legacy. Don’t let misinformation dictate the future of greyhound racing. Stand up for the dogs, the people, and the legacy of this extraordinary sport. Greyhounds were born to run-let’s not take that away from them.
should we also ban eating meat? cattles are actually dying. and ban fishing? they are cute. and what about horse racing? ban all equestrian sports as well?
Seems pretty hypocritical to me. It would be better news if they weren't about to restart live animal exports. Clearly the Greyhound Racing lndustry didn't donate as much as farmers.
No greyhound racing means no greyhounds for adoption. The USA banned greyhound racing, the end result is it is very difficult and expensive to find a greyhound. The greyhounds lose, prospective greyhound owners will miss out on this wonderful breed of dog, and a greyhound will only available to the wealthy or well connected. It's disappointing and so unnecessary. Let the dogs race, after all the racing track is much safer than the dog pound.
Love your compassion Minister Peters. Delighted with the news.
Ban rodeos next
Onto the next one...
They won"t ban rodeos because that doesnt stand in the way of gaming plans
Excellent news!
Thank you.

Yes, yes. No animals should be used for adults entertainment.
And dont forget a gaming company was behind it and peters loves horse racing
Prove it mupoet
Your point? Horse racing is not the same. Did 1400 horses get pit down in four years
Entain takes over and they get rid of the dogs. What more proof is there
