For me, the funniest bit is missing from these reactions. When the crowd of fanatics collectively agrees that they are individuals, a lone voice is heard to say "I'm not."
@@Zebred2001 That bit was the best example of irony ... ever. The crowd in declaring that they were all individuals proved that they were mindless clones. Irony. The lone voice in declaring, "I'm not," was trying to exclaim that he was just like everyone else and so proved the opposite, showed that he was unique and different, his own person and apart from the crowd. Irony. Fan-freakin-tastic. And a brilliant ad-lib. 😋
Yeah, it is, but no one can seriously pretend that conservatism or prudishness is unique to the USA or North America. Where I live in South Africa, Americans are widely perceived as far more permissive or open-minded than ourselves. (In comparison, they generally are.) Still, there are always exceptions in every community, of course. Some Americans and some South Africans are as relaxed about nudity as anyone else.
Irony. A situation in which the words offered appear to have one meaning that is contradicted by the intended and true meaning. Brian: You are all individuals. Crowd chanting in robotic unison, as one: Yes! We are all individuals! Irony. One lone voice: I'm not. Irony. The lone voice was trying to say he was not an individual and was a mindless clone ... and so proved he was unique and nothing like the crowd by trying to be a part of the crowd. A perfect example of irony. 😂. Inexplicably they cut out the best bit of the film.
TBF this film is full of very clever humour. At the first watch everyone catches the blatant jokes but the true gems are lurking in the corner. One of my top 5 funniest films ever made. This example has all that intellectual, thought provoking humour buried in 20 seconds of film. Genius!
Gen Z is really uptight. They are used to being very protected from nudity. When this movie came out, not many had any problem with the nudity in the movie and the situation of being caught was funny...not the nudity itself. The actors could have walked around the apartment nude and the audience would not cover their eyes or look away.

As a 54 year old American man, I am still amazed at people’s reactions to nudity onscreen. As if it is dirty, foul and offensive. What do you people do when you get in the shower? Do you turn off the lights?! Besides this was in a G or PG rated movie.
There was no "Scaping" back in the dusty, hot, sweaty days of old..... yeesh! Thankful to have enjoyed the 80's early 90's clean n fit look. hmmm, true that there seemed to be more of a natural look in the good old days. I can't say that I'm a fan of the stripped down waxed bare look. a little trimming is fine, and good couple fun, but the bare plastic, pre-pubescent look? Not for me.
Yep, she is great - from the little I've seen up to now. Several of the others seem like they're too worried about getting cancelled if they enjoy certain moments.
This is why I miss the 60's and 70's in America. Say what you want, do what you want and people had a sense of humor. We didn't know what "woke people" were
You ARE Aware that religious groups - especially in the USA - tried to ban this film from being shown - staging protests in major American cities? It's not the so-called "woke" you need to be worried about - it's the prudes!
'woke', lol. First, I was born in the 60's and that is not even remotely accurate and is easily evidenced by simple observation. Second, anyone that still uses a ludicrous term like 'woke' is divorced from objective reality, it sounds like a 15-year-old that just heard a new edgy word and then goes on to apply it to everything they personally do not like, or they are too dense to comprehend the context.
@@d4mdcykey I mean, the work woke isn't exactly "new" It's been in broad use for 20 years or so now. I spent 2 years around 2004-2005 watching interviews with people from Black Lives Matter telling everyone who would listen that everyone needs to be 'woke' and how they were encouraging everyone to be 'woke' and defining it for everyone since at the time knew what it meant. The leaders of BLM were pretty clear in at least one interview I remember on The Daily Show about how the word 'woke' needed to be a word in everyone's vocabulary since it meant people who wouldn't sit back and allow injustice to happen. It meant a person who would be on their guard for racism, sexism, and other such things no matter how minor or insignificant and speak up and fight for those who were underprivileged. They would use their jobs and their power to make things better for people. They would cast minorities in movies they wouldn't normally be cast in. They would look at a long line in the DMV in a black neighbourhood and they wouldn't write it off as unimportant and realize that was because of racism so they would do something about it. They should yell, get angry, make a scene and not listen to anyone telling them to be quiet or that the issue wasn't important enough. I then watched for the next year or two as people on twitter all proclaimed they were woke and how everyone else should be too. Twitter made t-shirts and asked their employees to wear them with #staywoke on them. Tweets would be made constantly about the absurdly minor problems people noticed and how they were going to deal with them. Then people got mad about all the things happening because of the stay woke movement and started constantly complaining about wokeness and how it was causing so many problems instead of solving them. Which caused people to stop using woke in a positive way anymore...and start complaining about people using the word as if it was only invented recently and they never loved the word to begin with.
"Woke" has been around since the 1930s. It started in the Black community as "stay woke" in reference to social and political issues and situations that affected their community. It didn't become such a wide buzzword until recently when reactionaries took it and twisted it into culture war bullshit and started bitching about it every 5 minutes.
This movie is a cult classic and very funny ! Felt bad for Graham Chapman as Brian, he gets slapped hard by Terry Jones as his mum, then later gets it again from John !! xx

Fun fact. The life of Brian was banned in Abersystwyth in Wales until Sue Jones-Davies who played Judith, bacame the Mayor of that town
Also banned in Norway so it was promoted in Sweden as "so funny they banned it in Norway"
