I fart in your general direction actually taught me so much about comedy. It taught me to spot the word that makes it funny which in this case is "general"
It's interesting actually, because I feel like mostly those sorts of things are made funnier by adding words that make them more specific, but this is an instance where the addition of a word makes it less specific, and that also makes it funnier.
One funny thing for me, that nobody seems to notice, is that Arthur and his men attack the fort at the bottom of a forty-foot- tall wall where they could not possibly do any damage to anyone or anything. They could have tried the gate.
OK guys... the thing about them flinging the cow... it was something they really did back then... the cow was supposed to be infected with the plague... 😍😍
Fun Fact. The writers of Game of Thrones were python fans. They wrote out a basic language for High Valerian. When Denerys Targarian was being insulted from the parapets, they said "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries"
As good as that scene is I would rather see him do the scene where Brian is rescued by the spaceship. No one ever sees that coming. It is the comedic version of Ben Gardner's head in Jaws.
This is my favorite comedy film of all-time, and the French Taunter is by far the one that makes me laugh hardest, even after watching this movie dozens of times over many decades that dude still absolutely slays me without fail. That and their reactions on the ground, it's simply perfection.
I used to have a t-shirt with the French guy standing up there that said “I fart in your general direction”. I wonder if I still have it somewhere. Lol
I saw this in the early nineties in high school when everyone was talking about it , I had to go rent it, there's dozens of great one Liners in this but every time I hear anyone with a French accent I think of course why do you think I have this outrageous accent ! And they shot this for 200,000 pounds, they were cold and wet, had to drive back to rented rooms every night, not enough hot water to go around. The guys talking about the making of this movie is really something, and it still ended up being pure comedy gold
Something that might make sense to people of a certain age, this scene is the inspiration for the french peas from the children's cartoon Veggie Tales. They are introduced in Josh and the Great Wall which makes their relevance seem clear. But once Veggie Tales did the work of creating characters they used them over and over, so in later videos all that is left is the outrageous French accents, Of course not many of the children who watched Veggie Tales would have gotten the reference at the time since one usually watched Veggie Tales before Monty Python. But that was a cool thing about Veggie Tales, although it was a Christian cartoon with morals for the children it was full of pop culture references for the adults.
The British make fun of French phrases which they mis-translate. "Mon petit chou." for example is translated word-for-word as "My little cabbage", but in French it refers to "chou a la creme" which is a delicious pastry, so a proper translation is more like "my little sweetie pie." It makes good comedy though.
"If you do not listen to our commands, then I shall ---" **BOOOOOOO---NNNnnnngggggg** "MOOOOOOOoooooooo" "JEEE--ZUS CHROIST " IDC how many times I've seen this movie, that scene cracks me up EVERY time 😅
Am enjoying the reaction compilation. Otherwise, if you haven't done it already, one I'd _really_ like to see is a compilation of reactions to the Killer Rabbit.
For a compilation of reactions to "I fart in your general direction", this sure contains a _lot_ of reaction clips that do _not_ in fact include "I fart in your general direction" 😞
Fun Fact: The line "your father smelled of elderberries" origin is that grapes were unavailable to the regular folks and the poor would use elderberries to make wine. So he wasn't just calling his father a drunk but a broke ass drunk😂
Apparently that was an authentic and devastating medieval insult: "Your mother was a hamster" means she was promiscuous and always pregnant, and "your father smelt of elderberries" means he was a wino who drank the cheapest stuff.
"Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries" translates to your father is drunk on elderberry wine all the time, and your mother can fit a lot in her mouth 😳 PS, I quote "What a strange person!" all the damn time
Ms. A. Burton: One thing is generally accepted world-wide: It is the avowed purpose in life for Monty Python, no matter the medium, to get weirder and weirder.
I a sense this is realistic. During the Middle Ages, soldiers would shout insults and taunts at the other side. And during Sieges of castles, the defenders would throw dead animals and other garbage at the attackers. It just wasn't this funny. My favorite insult comes later-" You second hand electric donkey bottom biter" !?!
The reactors who were offended with the animals being thrown at the nights instead of seeing the humor in it is beyond me. They can't even let their fragile minds enjoy a comedy without being triggered. Why You Me and The Movies felt the need to mute the audio is also beyond me.
Slapstick humor at its best….. have you seen young Frankenstein or maybe you’re a little more risky and watch Rocky horror picture show special appearance by Meat Loaf😏🥴😙
They're afraid of the Algorithm striking their Videos due to foul Language. The ones who edited out the phrase have had Videos removed before because of various issues.
I can't believe we are all sitting here watching the reaction of a reaction to a piece of media. This is the crap people made fun of fairly recently and now it's actually happening. 🤦♂️
You have to be 'on your toes' and knowledgeable regarding both British Humor and Mannerisms in order to really 'get' Python. To the uninitiated, it just looks and sounds like silly banter and slapstick Comedy, going right over most Reactors' heads. Catapulting the Cow and throwing the Animals over the castle parapets, for example; the French are attacking the Arthurians with 'Live' Ammunition.
Thumbs down. You advertise (click-bait) as “IFIYGD” reactions, but then you leave the very phrase out of most of the reactions, not to mention you left out Dasha of Russia and that Scottish(?) girl, both of whom seem to have actually heard the phrase and found it funny. I know how hard it is to make videos, having tried my hand at it before. I also know how easy it is to be truthful with thumbnails and titles. It is indeed easy. You should try it
He selected a start in the movie: blowing the horn. He then selected an end in the movie: wheeling up the Trojan rabbit. Then he showed how all these various reactors both reacted and edited this stretch of the movie. I love these compilations just because it is interesting to see what parts some reactors really responded to and which they cut. Some include every insult. Some jump right to the action. Either way, how it was cut is not at all the fault of the person who compiled this, but the reactors themselves.
You are my go-to reaction compilation channel. Keep up the great work, and thanks for the laughs.
Thanks 😊
They made wine out of Elderberries. He's calling his father a drunk.
Some theorize “your mother was a hamster” means she was promiscuous- that is breeding like one.
Also hamsters are promiscuous so basically he said yo mamas a hoe and yo daddies a drunk lol
cheap wine, elderberries makes wine taste harsh!
@@johnbernhardtsen3008 so a poor drunk yeah. :)
Hamsters are prolific breeders. He's calling his mother a slut.
The most quotable movie ever! Not everyone "gets" Monty Python. It can be very silly, but to me it's pure comedy gold!

This is what happens when you give an old English castle to a group of 15 year old boys and tell them "go play outside". Hilarity ensues lol.
My favorite part of this scene is Lancelot just hacking away at the castle. 😂 It’s awesome John Cleese played two people in this scene.
Absolutely! So many people miss that.
For anyone who didn't get his " Kinnigickts " remark ( I didn't till I was told ) is the French soldiers pronunciation of Knights as it is spelt .
I love seeing people learning a catch phrase that's been in pop culture for nearly 50 years. The passing of the guard is beautiful.
“Is there anyone else up there we can talk to?” Is such an under appreciated line in this skit. The hint of normalcy is what makes it so funny
“Can I speak to your supervisor?”
My family uses 'I fart in yer general direction' all the time. But 'no chance, you English bedwetting types' is the better line.

British documentaries are the best, you learn so much about history.

Most of these clips they cut out the ""I Fart In Your General Direction" line. So we can't even see their reaction to it.
