you may not like his designs or the way he describes architecture, but in my "humble opinion" you have no right to say he sucks if you haven't done what he have, and even if you have. He deserves some respect. And if you reply my message, pls start by giving a good reason of why he "sucks" I'm replying your comment with all the respect you deserve.
What a poor interview. The interviewer asked only generic questions that could be asked of any other architect. Did she do no research at all about her subject? The shots of Calatrava's home/studio/office (no idea what it is) are very interesting; I've never seen any of those works before.
well, actually, his design are much more effetive than a neoclassical one. It take a lot less materials to be build, and was meant to last forever. And even if vegans and those shitty hipster variants make "eco friendly" sounds silly, its a important factor of our age. And about "beauty" - well, its a matter of personal taste. I found those curves archictecures quite good. If you want to bash some architect, i suggest you to do not mention the "taste" factor, it makes you look like an underage.
The World is rightfully cynical and skeptical of all things in this day and age, never mind of grand schemes and plans (that have been known to fail from time to time). This is a problem that can be handled in several ways (some methods better than others). Here would be one approach
@gdbalck True... but that does not change the fact that both share common principles. I did not say that art is based on leftist political ideas, but both have common principles c.f. main art movements. Yet again art or artists should not be discriminated -or judged- by their views either leftist or rightist. Note both 'sides' have something to give.
@gdbalck any form of pure art (without the influence of the capital) lies on the same principles as 'left wing' political ideas. This is a fact, note though that there are exceptions....

Just getting to hear about the man. He seems to be an awesome guy. Hopefully I'll learn to be something like this man.

what does he mean by buildings having a less of an impact on their surroundings?
Why would you not agree with the concept in beauty? This beauty and and functionality can co exist. :))
