- Building my new workshop while remodeling a 5 story townhouse full time is not an easy task, especially when you decide to do the remodeling all by yourself!
This video features the full build from beginning to end of one half (26 sqm or 280 sqft) of my new workshop. I started building it on December 2017 and finished it over two years later, on March 2020!
The garage, where sit my biggest tools is still a work in progress...

Really nice!! I like very much OSB with white colors... Great job mate!
Thanks man! Glad you like it!
I finally subscribed to your channel. It was the least I could do for the man who inspires me!! After almost 10 years I'm finally painting my shop interior. My "shop" is actually a premade shed that I purchased the week I retired 10 years ago. I was going to be away for a month, so I hired a friend to insulate and wire the shop to my specifications while I was away. Bad idea to employ a friend, at least in my case. I came back to only half of the outlets I wanted which was to have 2-220 outlets on each wall and ended up with only 1 on the back wall. The OSB that was the wall covering looks terrible because he installed it with all of the sprayed-on lettering showing from the manufacturer, instead of flipping it over. And he never installed the lighting. He did however give me back the budgeted portion I gave him for the electrical. So, I had to remove the OSB in the areas the wiring would run and installed steel pipe all around the walls for the wire to run in. This way there would be no way of putting a screw into a wire when I hung things on the wall. While I had part of the OSB off the wall for the electrician to wire in the outlets, I turned those over so the lettering is facing in. That left me with the entire ceiled and half of each wall to prime which I never got to until recently. I've spent this past few days putting 3 coats of primer on so the letters don't bleed through plus OSB sucks up paint. I would have left it natural but the white, as you know, really brightens the shop making it easier to see everything without shadows. I love your space and how organized it is. I apologize for leaving a "Novel" for you to read.
Don't apologize and thanks for your comments! I don't hire friends (as I want to keep them my friends), and I don"t hire pros anymore (aside plumbers and electricians) so that I'm sure the job is well done! It's a lot of work, but it's so rewarding once it's done! With that said, don't work too hard!
😮 unbelievable
Nice work Sir 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾
👍
Que lujo !!! Muy buen trabajo. Que los disfrutes con mucho trabajo.-
Muchas gracias Pablo!
Parabens! Sensacional, espetacular, vou tirar algumas idéias para fazer a reforma da minha oficina.
Muito obrigado !
NICE!
Must have had a sale on OSB. 😉
Super flot resultat!
Its a dream to have something like this...👍
You're right, I feel very lucky!
Nice video 👍
TOP!
NICKEL !!!!!!!!
Nice
Brilliant. I see you didn't use any underlay for the laminate flooring. Very nice workshop though.
A wall: *is ugly*
Hodyo design: slaps OSB on it
14:33 is that vise on your work bench secured to that piece of plywood that's then fitted to the dog holes?
Yep!
Ma-gni-fi-que, avec un atelier comme ça, on se lève avec plaisir pour bricoler.
comme quoi le confinement n aura pas que des mauvaises vertues.
Merci Joël 🙂J'espère que tout va par chez toi !
Looks good! Is there a reason you decided to use OSB over plywood?
Just personal preferences,. Plus OSB is much cheaper and you can't easily spot screw holes in OSB so I can move things around without being worried about the look.
Leave a floorboard loose and fill the floor with packing peanuts and foam when you get them instead of a land fill. reduce reuse recycle fam. Free insulation.
Why did you choose to place the saw to the right? Did you have a reason like the blade sits into the table half the distance of the extension ? Mine extends 35" so I'm trying to figure out the most logical placement. I've seen some centered and some flush to the right. Trying to understand the reasoning.
I'm not sure I understand your question. If you're talking about the position of the miter saw, from one wall to the other, left or right is just personal preference, as long as you have enough space on one side to cut long boards, in my case 8'. But may be I'm not answering your question?
The music sounds like I was put on hold
Hola! 🖐It has been a while since you posted this, have you made any significant changes since then? It seems that you put a lot of thought into it beforehand but if you were building this shop in the middle of another big project, maybe you sacrificed a little for the benefit of time. It looks really, really good. Very nice work on leveling your two elevations of floor. You covered a drain there, any issues with that? Take care and have a good one, Adios!👍
Sorry for my late reply. I did some changes since I made the video, but I've been very busy and that's the reason why I put my channel on hold. The drain was outside originally, but it is now inside the addition built in 1990. As a result, it's totally useless and that's why I covered it. Good luck and have fun with your own workshop!
@@HODYODesign Thanks for your response! Will do, thanks.👊
Why do you use long lamp?
And not Round LED lamp?
Thanks for asking! I got them on sale, 10€ per tube lamp, T8 bulb included, so that was a no brainer for me.
Thanks for sharing this. But don't understand why buying Ikea Method instead of doing your self ? Thanks for your reply.
You're welcome. Why do I use Metod cabinets?
a. I'm a lazy/busy guy.
b. it's actually much faster and much cheaper than making your own cabinets, if you consider that time is money. That's why so many pros use them, at least in Europe.
@@HODYODesign Merci pour la réponse. Je n’habite pas très loin et je regarde la meilleure manière de faire des meubles pour mon garage. Bravo pour la qualité des vidéos. 👍🏻
Il n'y a pas que dans le garage que je les utilise. Ca sera sûrement pour de futures vidéos !
@@HODYODesign Vivement la suite 🥳
great job. we live in Eindhoven. would you be interested in doing the remodeling of our garage as an extra side job? we have had difficulties someone to do it. seems dutch construction work is in high demand in our area. our garage is smaller than your workshop. comment back if you are interested. thanks
Thanks for the offer, but I'm already working full time on a 5 story townhouse renovation!
What will u do if your whole workshop destroyed by termites but you don't realised until it is late??
Thanks for asking,. Fortunately, there is no termites in Belgium! Anything else?
@@HODYODesign LOL!
