I know it would make an awesome overland build but I’d be interested in just keeping it like a time capsule. It’s so cool I’d hate to change it.

It could definitely go either way - In a museum, or off the grid.

We use Toyota hiace in Africa commonly as matatus for many years. Toyota hiace is the best vehicle for public or cargo transportation business in Africa.

Long thin object to be stored in the side are MaxTrax and other traction/levelling boards! Thanks for sharing the video of such a unique and a very special van!

It looks like my old Toyota van for 1984 when they first came out minus the ambulance stuff and hightop. Lol mine was white too.

$200,000+ when it was new! Damn, that is incredibly expensive compared to U.S. ambulance prices of the same period. Type III ambulances (high roof van) on a Ford E-350 chassis with a turbo diesel engine where around $80K to $100,000. Even the Type I, (modular box on a truck chassis), were well south of $200,000.
61,000 miles is very low milage too. You normally only see that on U.S. ambulances that were owned by a small rural volunteer fire department or rescue squad.

These are super rare, and they are actually built wider than the original Hiace (because of ambulance rules). Also the longest wheel base. The chassis code is UZH138 but you can't find them in the parts system.
How much did this sell for?

Typically Japanese in shape & design ,whereabouts in Japan was this ambulance used? Didn't it have a Red Cross in the middle of the tailgate window? I wonder what the siren sound is like.

You'd have to check with your local state ambulance certification requirements for an answer on this!

That's weird that u cannot buy a hiace private use, considering in other asian countries if u have the money, u can buy a Toyota hiace if u want to and use it as a private van or use it as transportation and it not been used as an ambulance.
