*UPDATE TIME!* First, we're currently trending at #10 on all of TH-cam. Pretty insane personal moment, but what's good is that means Bethesda will definitely hear us on this platform. I'm sure they got the gist of how folks received the show on social media, but the more feedback, the better. Second, the comment section is dope. Seeing lots of different opinions and great conversations for the most part being had. Third, a fun fact! Fallout 4's entire E3 showcase was just five minutes shorter than all of E3 2017 for Bethesda. That's a crazy stat to me. I know some may say it sounds entitled, but Bethesda set a solid E3 standard for themselves and came woefully short of the mark.
They messed up this year for sure. Clearly they didn't have enough to justify holding a conference. If you don't have enough to make a conference worth it, then DON"T DO IT. That way people will be much less disappointed because you didn't get their hopes up by going to E3 in the first place!

Mhm, Did they not say a few years ago that if they dont have anything to show, they wouldnt put on a conference? It seemed really forced. With hindsight, it would have been better if they condensed it to a 30 minutes presentation, and told their fans that they wont be releasing anything too big, and not get anyones hopes up. Personally I feel so bad for the people that spent a lot of money travelling to go see this conference, and getting let down so hard....

Well the thing is that it seems like they had something else planned but something really fucked up. It only took 40 minutes to do the conference, when it should have been 60. 20 minutes would have been the perfect amount of time to introduce a new ip with todd on the stage. Also, Pete seemed REALLY nervous, more so than anywhere else or in any other conference, and looked like he had something on his mind.
The model is that modders pitch ideas to Bethesda and if their pitch is chosen they get to develop it with the bethesda team and it gets released as an official add on.

Dear Bethesda: Okay. We get the idea that you don't want to announce games mega-early to avoid over-hyping them...and the strategy worked brilliantly for Fallout 4 in 2015. Here's the rub though: I get the distinct feeling that *most fans would have preferred having a bone thrown to them by BGS instead of sitting through VR rehashes of existing titles, card games, and a Switch port of a six year-old game.* Most of us would have LOVED some Starfield/Elder Scrolls concept art or pre-Alpha footage with a "coming Fall 2018/Spring 2019" release window. The stuff you guys had on display this year was not worth a self-contained E3 conference at such an inconvenient hour. Much of this stuff could have been mixed into Sony or Microsoft's E3 shows and probably would have been received much more positively through those channels. Violent, over-the-top shooters and horror titles are fine - but remember, Bethesda: *It's RPG fans that made your business what it is today, not Doom/Quake players.* You were able to purchase id Software because of the support of your die-hard RPG fans who play games like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. You should keep this in mind. I'm not even going to get into the cleverly worded, barely disguised paid mods system you're trying to implement now. I'm sure it's easy to lose perspective when you're sitting on mountains of cash. I thought it was obvious Bethesda has grown too big to keep to nich RPG crowd. They left us far behind. You think Skyrim or FO4 was too mainstreamed, wait till you see their next game. Many of you guys aren't Bethesda's main target consumer, and you guys aren't fans of Bethesda anymore..You just don't seem to realize it yet. I know I sound like a dick, but I'm just being honest, not a complete dick. Example: Bioware..I'am a HUGE fan of DA Origins/KOTAR/ME..I don't even recognize the shit they release nowadays. And now Anthem, EA's answer to Atctivision's online cash cow Destiny. Wow, there is nothing left of the company that made those games I loved. Companies grow and change. Bethesda has done the same, with success comes growth, with growth comes change. Now CDPR is our guy, trying it's hardest to target us, the deeper RPG crowd. But eventually they'll grow beyond us to, unless they can remain independent from the EA/Zenimax of the world.
Hype culture is bad. Stop acting like a brat just because an RPG wasn't announced this year. Bethesda Games Studios will keep making RPGs, however, they are not the only ones at the conference. The Bethesda conference is hosted by Bethesda Softworks. This means that you will see work from all of the studios that BS publishes. Remember, BGS only produces an RPG once per 3-4 years.

falskar and beyond skyrim are INSANELY large mods which are probably larger than the dlcs for the game. So bethesda is hiring people who have the ideas and capability to make these, and are making them official dlcs for the game (making it compatible with achievements)
I am a PS4 player as well and constantly having to stump up money to pay for "official mods" isnt going to happen- the wallet wont allow it. it's either put F4 and Skyrim away or rely on the modders plying their trade for free
Yeah Matty, I definitely know how you felt at the very end. When the show was done, Pete just looked like he was gonna pull a "Oh, and one more thing" but didn't. I was honestly stunned with that ending and the show in general. Another thing that bothered me was No prey, I know it just came out and all but this would be a perfect spot to show off new dlc and they didn't even though the game was on their invitation. Honestly, Wolfenstein was the only good thing i got out of that conference.
Bethesda is going to see how we all reacted to their shitty showcase this year and it might cause them to not hold a conference at next E3. Pete Hines even acknowledged everyone's harsh reaction to the Creation Club on Twitter during the show. They are definitely going to know what we all thought about their press conference after today. To me, it seems like Bethesda spends too much time on milking all of their old games when instead they should be focused on creating something new and fresh. I know that The Elder Scrolls VI is a ways off but I don't think Bethesda realizes how much money this game could actually make them. The entire industry would literally go ape shit over it. Even with Fallout, Fallout 4 was literally Bethesda's best-selling game of all time. That game made them SO much money. Do they realize that even hiring a third party developer to create a Fallout or Elder Scrolls spinoff would be the greatest thing ever for their fans and the smartest thing ever for their company? It would have been a good conference if they had the Evil Within developers come on stage to talk about the game in more detail, or give us a gameplay demo. Or if Harvey Smith came on to give us more details on the Dishonored DLC, since it was pretty confusing when it first got revealed. If Todd Howard came on stage or a video, or even if Pete Hines came to explain Creation Club it would have been better. The Wolfenstein presentation was cool, and Pete Hines talking about it after was alright, but if only one out of like 6 presentations was done correctly, you have a problem. They could have had a much better presentation if they just talked to us instead of just showing some TH-cam videos and leaving.
I like the fact that they didn't have stage people. All the conferences with a stage end up being cringeworthy. They wanted to avoid that, which I appreciate even though the games they showcased were not exciting.
E3 2018: Starfield E3 2019: Skip E3 2020-2023: Dishonored 3, Fallout 5, Elder Scrolls VI, etc. They should skip years like this where there's not enough to make E3 worth it.

This is why we value our modding community so much, because they are basically unpaid slave labor who do all the work and we can take that work and put a price tag on it. The creation club will be a way for us to strengthen our mastership over our modding minions and help us to make even more money. It just works.Now do you get it why most of the FO4 season pass was workshop assets? We wanted to get these assets into the hands of the modders to help them create more content for us. The icing on the cake was that we conned everyone into buying this in the season pass. You thought you were going to get fully made DLC content from us in the season pass? HAHAHAHA NO! But don't worry, the real content will come, courtesy of the modding community, but you will have to shell out even more money for it. BWAHAHAHAHAHA

The conference was disgusting. Worst E3 conference I've ever seen. Also..... We see what you're trying to do Bethesda. Micro DLC that "can" include content made by third parties and mod creators. This also allows you to bypass the issue of Sony and external assets. That said, were still paying for mods, and were still giving the mod author 20% even tho they did 100% of the work. Sorry, not gonna fly. You need to be 100% transparent with this, or we are NEVER going to back you. We need to know what cut the modders get. We need to know the ENTIRE mod vetting process. You need to be communicating and transparent with the modding community at every turn, or this is never going to work. We aren't contractors, we're hobbyists, and we aren't going to deal with bullshit.
No, that's not what they're doing. Mod creators pitch an idea to Bethesda, Bethesda fine tunes and develops the mod, and puts it on the market. They are doing a large portion of the work, and they have to run the service, which costs money.
I sincerely hope we are not seeing the start of Bethesda walking down the path companies like Bioware, Ubisoft, EA, and even Microsoft have gone down. I woke up at 6am from 3 hours of sleep to watch the conference and I was really dissapointed at what I got. Then again, I only really enjoy their open world RPG's, dishonored was fun but not exactly my cup of tea. Maybe my english exam will make my day better...
Pete Hines did say that TES6 was a long way from being released but I thought they would like remaster Morrowind or something though the new Wolfenstein looks damn good.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious they were announcing two games, but whether it was Wolfenstein, Evil Within, Starfield or something else wasn't clear. Also there is a fan project to remaster Morrowind and Oblivion in the Skyrim and Skyrim SE engines, but it sounds like they won't be released until late 2018.
You hit it right on the head for me, thank you One thing that stuck out to me was the lack of community acknowledgement. No montage of community accomplishments, creations, mods, art, youtubers, content creators, snap mappers, settlement builders. I don't know if this is coming out right, but it just seemed detached, from the fans that make them what they are, in some way. Also I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt like PH was about to say.. I wouldn't make assumptions on that. They don't like to talk about major studio IPs till they are almost ready for release and depending on how much ground work they need to do it might still be a couple of years before the main studio has a major release.
If a modder wants to work with Bethesda and get paid for their work, or at least recognition, then they SHOULD be allowed to do so. Paid mods isn't a bad idea, considering all the time that is put into it and the product. Hell, Dota was a mod. Now look at it, raking in MILLIONS.

Not to defend Bethesda, but couldn't we say it is better to not display things we won't receive until later? I mean we are upset by the things we already knew were coming taking up time in the conference (Fallout VR, Skyrim Switch) and we appreciate the model of we only display what you will get this year. Bit contradicting to say "Show me something that isn't ready yet!" Despite this conference being a bit lackluster lets at least appreciate that Bethesda is following a better approach to we show things when we are confident and keep away from the BS E3 model. These are the games that are ready here you go. I like this better than: Ubisoft: Assassins creed/Division/Watchdogs/(EVERY GAME THEY MAKE), always broken on release and always promises more than it can deliver, sometimes late EA Anthem: We won't be receiving this earliest Fall 2018 and after Andromeda it would be silly to expect this to even barely hold up. Oliver Hardwick the thing is they never do that, and with Bethesda's game timeline and recent "starfield" activity we were expecting it this year. however it's probably more reasonable for it to show up at e3 2018 or possibly a random fucking trailer in a few months. (Maybe the random trailer is just me being optimistic but it is Bethesda)

Sarah Maloney sure there wasn't anything mind blowing, its micrisoft. but they showed some decent stuff like Metro Exodus, A way out, Forza, Dragon ball fighterz, sea of theives, Assassin's creed origins, shadow of war, Black desert online and Life is strange. I know u might not be a fan of all these and neither am I but they are still good looking games that other ppl are looking forward to so that's why I think it was alright.

dudes...please understand...there is a very important thing to think about.... all the games announced on this conference will come out THIS year that says a lot about Bethesda philosophy on this conference, they dont want to sell smoke or just hype with the ethereal future.....they want to show things that you will be able to play in the next months...not in a couple of years...that's a good thing.......right?

Mike T In hindsight, I think, between Bethesda and the fans, that there's blame to share. Fans were never promised Starfeild and they hyped it up for themselves, but, Bethesda had weeks to tell everyone that Starfeild wasn't going to be shown, instead they waited till now to let everyone down.

Dude... If you follow up on Bethesda you would know that ES 6 is barely anything but a couple of ideas written down on board. My prediction is that we will receive a new Open World RPG called Starfield made by Bethesda Game Studios in 2018 and then we will get ES 6 in 3 or 4 years after that somewhere around 2021. If Bethesda is smart, they would have already allowed another developer to start a Fallout spin-off but at this point we can never know.
There were 4 years between Morrowind and Oblivion, 5 years between Oblivion and Skyrim. It's been nearly 6 years since Skyrim. It wouldn't be unreasonable to expect an announcement for the new Elder Scrolls game (to come out holiday 2017), especially considering there is no native game on the current generation of consoles.
Bethesda is in no hurry to throw out an ES6 or a new Fallout(Though hopefully they will let someone else develop a new Fallout spin-off when they do work on it). I read somewhere in an interview with Pete Hines not too long ago that he said ES6 wasn't even in development.
I'm a PS4 Fallout 4 player. Bethesda Creation Club is intriguing to me. Paid mods would bother me if they were the only way to get mods, but since they're not, I'm totally okay with the concept, and since they're made by Bethesda actual developer and the top tier of the modders, they'll be a considerable jump in quality from what is currently onl PS4 mods. They will not be limited to native assets, and actually support trophies. Depending on what comes out for it, I'll definitely buy a few things. Of course the big reveal for Wolfenstein II has me excited. I wasn't expecting that, and the fact that it'll be out in the fall is awesome. There was a lto shown this year that i'm meh about, but between Wolf 2 and Creation Club, I'm not displeased.
Didn't get me to order any new games this year. Starfield would have been nice. We need a new moddable RPG comparable to recent Elder Scrolls or Fallout games.
I still hope if Starfield comes around it takes the fallout/Elder Scrolls game mechanics but throws it into space with different species and stuff it would be like a first person Mass Effect, I think them having fields of stars behind them at all times was just a big troll :/, e3 this year has been lackluster to say the least
I kind of like the idea of creation hub. Sure, it may seem like a cheap crash grab, but there are mods out there that could be their own dlc on their own, and I like how Bethesda is working on giving them a professional finishing touch.

First, we're currently trending at #10 on all of TH-cam. Pretty insane personal moment, but what's good is that means Bethesda will definitely hear us on this platform. I'm sure they got the gist of how folks received the show on social media, but the more feedback, the better.

Third, a fun fact! Fallout 4's entire E3 showcase was just five minutes shorter than all of E3 2017 for Bethesda. That's a crazy stat to me. I know some may say it sounds entitled, but Bethesda set a solid E3 standard for themselves and came woefully short of the mark.

Well the thing is that it seems like they had something else planned but something really fucked up. It only took 40 minutes to do the conference, when it should have been 60. 20 minutes would have been the perfect amount of time to introduce a new ip with todd on the stage. Also, Pete seemed REALLY nervous, more so than anywhere else or in any other conference, and looked like he had something on his mind.

Okay. We get the idea that you don't want to announce games mega-early to avoid over-hyping them...and the strategy worked brilliantly for Fallout 4 in 2015. Here's the rub though:
I get the distinct feeling that *most fans would have preferred having a bone thrown to them by BGS instead of sitting through VR rehashes of existing titles, card games, and a Switch port of a six year-old game.* Most of us would have LOVED some Starfield/Elder Scrolls concept art or pre-Alpha footage with a "coming Fall 2018/Spring 2019" release window.
The stuff you guys had on display this year was not worth a self-contained E3 conference at such an inconvenient hour. Much of this stuff could have been mixed into Sony or Microsoft's E3 shows and probably would have been received much more positively through those channels.
Violent, over-the-top shooters and horror titles are fine - but remember, Bethesda: *It's RPG fans that made your business what it is today, not Doom/Quake players.* You were able to purchase id Software because of the support of your
die-hard RPG fans who play games like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. You should keep this in mind. I'm not even going to get into the cleverly worded, barely disguised paid mods system you're trying to implement now.
I'm sure it's easy to lose perspective when you're sitting on mountains of cash. Just please keep in mind going forward: *Bethesda will be remembered for its game studio developing Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind...not for publishing Wolfenstein 2.*

Hype culture is bad. Stop acting like a brat just because an RPG wasn't announced this year. Bethesda Games Studios will keep making RPGs, however, they are not the only ones at the conference. The Bethesda conference is hosted by Bethesda Softworks. This means that you will see work from all of the studios that BS publishes. Remember, BGS only produces an RPG once per 3-4 years.

I was honestly stunned with that ending and the show in general. Bethesda is going to see how we all reacted to their shitty showcase this year and it might cause them to not hold a conference at next E3. Pete Hines even acknowledged everyone's harsh reaction to the Creation Club on Twitter during the show. They are definitely going to know what we all thought about their press conference after today. To me, it seems like Bethesda spends too much time on milking all of their old games when instead they should be focused on creating something new and fresh. I know that The Elder Scrolls VI is a ways off but I don't think Bethesda realizes how much money this game could actually make them. The entire industry would literally go ape shit over it. Even with Fallout, Fallout 4 was literally Bethesda's best-selling game of all time. That game made them SO much money. IKR! I got like 4 hours of sleep after the microsoft conference so i could be up in time for the bethesda conference and i was met with utter shit.
It would have been a good conference if they had the Evil Within developers come on stage to talk about the game in more detail, or give us a gameplay demo. Or if Harvey Smith came on to give us more details on the Dishonored DLC, since it was pretty confusing when it first got revealed. If Todd Howard came on stage or a video, or even if Pete Hines came to explain Creation Club it would have been better.
The Wolfenstein presentation was cool, and Pete Hines talking about it after was alright, but if only one out of like 6 presentations was done correctly, you have a problem.
They could have had a much better presentation if they just talked to us instead of just showing some TH-cam videos and leaving.

No, that's not what they're doing. Mod creators pitch an idea to Bethesda, Bethesda fine tunes and develops the mod, and puts it on the market. They are doing a large portion of the work, and they have to run the service, which costs money.

I sincerely hope we are not seeing the start of Bethesda walking down the path companies like Bioware, Ubisoft, EA, and even Microsoft have gone down. Bethesda always struck me for its integrity in the face of profit-maxing corporations who care about making a buck more than they did about making a good game. The entire E3 conference was hyped from the start as if another big title such as Starfield or another Fallout/ES would be announced, but then we had to sit through 40 minutes of advertisements for products that only appealed to a minority of viewers. I don't care about action shooters or PvP or card games; I go to Bethesda for quality open-world RPGs, and they did not deliver this year.
Shayin Crassan they said they don't have enough of an Elder Scrolls to show off, which means they are still in heavy development and next years E3 should be amazing. Too early for a new fallout, and starfield was just a web rumor, why are people thinking it was real?
Shayin Crassan integrity and Bethesda haven't mixed for years now. their games have been getting more and more lackluster since oblivion, and they constantly do shady business decisions for profit, including fucking up developers they're publishing games for so that they can buy them.
Maybe I'm just hugely cynical at this point, but the Creation Club seems like their latest effort to condition fans to more blatant paid extras down the line with their future games.

One thing that stuck out to me was the lack of community acknowledgement. No montage of community accomplishments, creations, mods, art, youtubers, content creators, snap mappers, settlement builders. I don't know if this is coming out right, but it just seemed detached, from the fans that make them what they are, in some way.

Dude... If you follow up on Bethesda you would know that ES 6 is barely anything but a couple of ideas written down on board. My prediction is that we will receive a new Open World RPG called Starfield made by Bethesda Game Studios in 2018 and then we will get ES 6 in 3 or 4 years after that somewhere around 2021. If Bethesda is smart, they would have already allowed another developer to start a Fallout spin-off but at this point we can never know.
There were 4 years between Morrowind and Oblivion, 5 years between Oblivion and Skyrim. It's been nearly 6 years since Skyrim. It wouldn't be unreasonable to expect an announcement for the new Elder Scrolls game (to come out holiday 2017), especially considering there is no native game on the current generation of consoles.

Bethesda is in no hurry to throw out an ES6 or a new Fallout(Though hopefully they will let someone else develop a new Fallout spin-off when they do work on it). I read somewhere in an interview with Pete Hines not too long ago that he said ES6 wasn't even in development.
I'm a PS4 Fallout 4 player.
Bethesda Creation Club is intriguing to me. Paid mods would bother me if they were the only way to get mods, but since they're not, I'm totally okay with the concept, and since they're made by Bethesda actual developer and the top tier of the modders, they'll be a considerable jump in quality from what is currently onl PS4 mods. They will not be limited to native assets, and actually support trophies.
Depending on what comes out for it, I'll definitely buy a few things.
Of course the big reveal for Wolfenstein II has me excited. I wasn't expecting
that, and the fact that it'll be out in the fall is awesome. There was a lto shown this year that i'm meh about, but between Wolf 2 and Creation Club, I'm not displeased.
