I was interested in one of these until I actually saw it in the flesh, but when I saw it, it is sooooo small! I actually bought a Fatbob when they first came out a few years ago. You are going to like that I think.
Nice it is an interesting bike, not for me personally, but I can definitely see its appeal 👍. Yup I prefer the look of the Fatbob and the over all package. Very much looking forward to testing that 😁 Cheers
Great review. I've just bought this bike to add to my already diverse collection of new bikes... ridden it once so far and absolutely love the bikes feel and performance. I've got another sporster 48 and the Nightster, buti doubt any of my other bikes will ever get ridden again now I have this. It's nothing like my GSXR1000R, Cafe Racer or any of the Harley's. Its definitely the best bike that HD have produced to date, in looks, performance and tech. I might end up selling my other HDs. I'll keep tuned for more updates
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 A really impressive sports bike from Harley this new Sportster! A great addition to any garage and good to hear that you are enjoying it so much. Cheers
I test rode the Nightster but it didn't click with me. When I test rode this I had to apologise for bringing it back late....but they didn't mind because I bought it
Thanks for the review as I've been interested in this bike (merely as an interesting bike for Harley). This bike is far from my ideal but I always appreciate reviews of new models. In 2009 I owned a Kawasaki ZX14 which was 170hp. the bike was a docile friend around town but out on the road it scared the living daylights out of me which brought about a quick trade in for a much more civilized sport tourer. Though I never regretted owning the ZX, I never missed it! :>) Once again enjoyed the video, keep it up.
👍 Thanks Mike. Same I was very interested in it as well, not a bike for me personally but I can definitely see the appeal. 😂 WOW that is a powerful bike!! I cannot even imagine riding that. Haha i am not surprised that it was a scary one! Yup that would be waaay too powerful for me. I bet it woke you up though. A great experience to have owned one, even for a short period of time. All the best, cheers.
Not my kind of bike but as you said a very "cafè rider", but modern, style. If that's what HD were after, I think their design team did a good job. Thanks for the review!
All good thanks, yup not really my style either. I was very impressed with the engine though! It is definitely aiming at a specific market. Completely different to a classic Harley. Cheers
I love the look. I could see me owning that one day. But I think the sound is quite bland - actually I quite dislike the sound. Mixed views about keyless as it makes vehicles more easy to steal. But it solves the problem of leaving your key in your pocket and then realising you've put your winter gloves on.
😂 yup that is definitely a bonus. I think I am for the keyless ignition as I am always leaving my keys in the bike!! 🥴 Yes the sound is no good. Think some aftermarket pipes could easily fix that though. I didn’t like the looks at first but they have definitely grown on me.
I came from 20yrs of riding mostly sports bikes of all sizes and disciplines As my son got a old school Harley. it got a bit awkward riding my gixxer thou with us out and about. So i found a 883r sporty totally stock form. I never wanted a Harley and never again would i buy one till now Buying a Harley is like buying a rolling kit bike With just the basics Within a couple of weeks i spent a lot of money trying to improve it in every way possible.my bike was a ltd edition with twin discs, didnt stop, handle was totally uncomfortable Within 6 months I sold it Most younger owners wanted a look and power more fitting to Ducati Diavel So for me this new style would fit my needs better. They put a lot of thought into the design, equipment etc.the front tyre has a pointy profile to be able to handle.the foot first pegs are std but the regular pegs are options, which is better as the std ones are notorious for lower back issues. Switch gear looks very aprilia esq Id try one just to see if they've now got it right.imo Many true loyal fans would just cringe of the thought but honestly their so blinkered they still prefer an ironhead😂 Least theres a competitor to the Diavel now Good vid & look forward to more varied content 👍
Hi, thanks so much I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Harley really do divide opinion and very much have a character of their own! I enjoyed this new Sportster, however I prefer a traditional big twin lazy Harley 😂 Think if I wanted a sports bike I would look else where. Still it does look different/cool I suppose and that will appeal to people. Cheers and enjoy the ride
Always interesting to try something different. I'm more a cruisin' person than sporty person and to be honest, I can't be trusted with fast vehicles but this doesn't seem as fun as the other one you tried.
Exactly my thoughts 👍 It is a bike that I usually wouldn't go for but was very interesting to ride. It is definitely a fun and characterful motorbike. Haha I am the same, I think on a bike like this I would get myself into trouble!! It is built for one thing, going fast and looking cool. To me that sounds dangerous, constantly trying to see how fast you can go! If you are not a "scaredy cat" like me then I am sure you can have loads of fun on it. Not of me 🥺😂
Well Not sure on this one Angus it certainly doesn't sound like a Harley don´t like the huge exhausts not saying I don´t like the engine but just seems a little revy compared to what you might expect .That number plate and back light floating in the middle of nowhere looks awful I do actually want to like it but I am struggling . : )
Yup I think we are in the same boat on this one!! I can see from a non personal point that it is a great bike and has its market. Just personally it isn’t my style. Maybe one day, but not today. No the engine is definitely not a cruiser, but as a stand alone engine it felt very impressive. Cheers
Always thought of HDs as Flintstones motorcycles. Single front brake disc on a bike of this power and torque and weight is insane. Like the TFT single clock. Not a fan of keyless. Seems to be a poor solution to a problem that never existed.
Haha fair enough! This bike certainly has enough power to not require any leg input!! 😂 I know what you mean though. I was impressed with how modern this bike felt. The engine is certainly very impressive, if not the classic Harley style. Yes I think it really should have double discs up front, know idea why they did not do that, looks perhaps? I know what you mean but to be honest I am one of those silly people who leaves their keys in the ignition the whole time! 🥴 Think I am undecided on the matter. Cheers
I've also ridden the Sportster S and the Speedmaster that you have and the Sportster S isn't a patch on the Speedmaster. I thought the engine sound was poor and sounds very mechanical. Maybe you notice this more because the exhaust is not that loud. Compared to a Speedmaster, which as you know sounds awesome, I found the Sportster S disappointing and I own 2 Harley Davidsons. It's a shame, as I waited 3 years for this bike to come to fruition. Also, its not really a cruiser as many describe it. You wouldn't want to ride more than an hour before stopping with a seat that thin, so really its only use is for short rides between cafe stops. I bet you found it heavier to manoeuvre and pull off the side stand than your Speedmaster despite it being lighter? Triumph did such a good job with the Speedmaster. Also as you found, just too much unnecessary tech. I will say the Sportster S looks cool in Black and probably is its best colour seeing as everything on the bike is black, that is if looking cool is your thing... Nice review as always 👍
Thanks Graham 👍 I whole heartedly agree! Yes the engine did seem a bit rattly, which was a shame as I think it is a great motor. Almost as if they have done it on purpose. It definitely does not fall into the category of a classic Harley! Absolutely not a cruiser, as you say I guess it is for short rides on the weekend to blow the cobwebs away. Personally not my style of motorbike, but I am sure it will do well for the market it is aimed at. Cheers
Why put such a big tire on the front; not for me! And don't hit a pot hole, not much suspension in the rear. Great engine, but this bike doesn't appeal to me that much. I'm going for a Ducati.
Nice bike but those pipes are butt ugly. I am sure all the aftermarket folks have alternatives available or will very shortly. It doesn't really sound like a HD.
I have bought my Sportster S 3 weeks ago. I am absolutely in love with it!
👌 they are cool bikes, that’s great to hear

Looks like a MAD MAX machine. Very industrial styling.
Yes. Must admit I’m not the biggest fan of the looks, but just personal preference really
The world would be a little boring if everyone road the same style bikes.@@redangrevival

Yes the large front tire and single brake disc up front are questionable! I think Harley are trying to balance looks and performance too much.
Fenomenalno😃
Thanks 👍
Nice bike but those pipes are butt ugly. I am sure all the aftermarket folks have alternatives available or will very shortly. It doesn't really sound like a HD.
Yup I definitely think it is a cool bike. Personally not for me but I can see the appeal. 100% changing those pipes out!!
Are you next to a gun range or something?
Haha that sounds fun!
Does not sound like a Harley.
Unfortunately not! Definitely not a classic Harley sound.
