Brothers Jens Ishøy Prehn and Per Ishøy Nielsen from Denmark have been collecting Pokémon cards their adult life and have now amassed a collection of over 32,000 individual cards!

I can guarantee this is not even close to the biggest/ largest pokemon collection in the world. Now I get it, to get the world record you have to be documented by guinness. So this is just the largest pokemon collection documented by guinness.

I’m almost 38 and just got into Pokémon. I bought a binder and extra card sleeves and right now I’m just buying the mystery packs I think it’s sword and shield, they’re in a purple package anyway. I want to print a checklist but I couldn’t find one for this series. I watched the first three movies and am going to watch the original series soon. I have a long term goal of getting all the cards from this series. I don’t have any plans to play games with them or resell them. It’s just something to do for fun for me. Congrats on your record guys.
How are you getting on with sword and shield! I masters set astral radiance and pokemon go! Its would cost you 10s of thousands to master every set in sword and shield!!
@@TheBarnz91 I just buy card packs and keep what I don’t have and what I do have I give to someone else. Some card packs are sword and shield and some aren’t. I understand why people want to complete sets but I would personally drive myself insane doing that, especially if there’s this one rare card in the set I can’t afford. 😆
@@SallyCat84 yes it’s very much like that, the prices are crazy! I had to pay 110 for the alt art machamp in astral radiance just to master the set! Have you Had any great pulls yet?
@@TheBarnz91 I don’t know if it’s special but one of my favorites is Spectrier. It’s one of the Halloween cards I got and it’s a foil card. I liked reading about the process of how you summon one and pretty much everything about it. I’ve heard Spectrier shows up on one of the Pokémon games for Switch and I guess it shows up in one of the shows from what I was told. I bought a plush of Spectrier on Amazon. There’s another Pokémon similar to Spectrier but it name is Glastrier, it’s an ice ghost Pokémon I think. I bought a plush for that one too but I haven’t gotten the card for that one but hope to one day.

He has cards worth way more. But as far as different cards i’m not sure

@Ashleigh Guerrero Ashleigh, I don't think you understand what their record is. It's for UNIQUE cards, so your 32k energies and 50k trainer cards etc. don't mean anything, unless you have 32k unique individual cards, including all kinds of variations of the same card.
They have binders of complete sets probably why they got the record probably for most master sets complete but you're right the top 10 wasn't super spectacular compared to other collections out there

What is considered largest? The biggest amount of cards? The biggest amount of different cards, which would mean there is an upper limit? Including errors? Having all cards in all possible languages? The most valuable amount of cards? The most valuable amount of pokemon products in general?.. I feel like there are bigger collections for some of the categories above, even on TH-cam (for example TCA Gaming or Cooltrainer Ryan).. Obviously this is a huge collection nevertheless, props for keeping your hobby..

Caught that shiny ponyta you’ve been after in my latest run of pokemon crystal not too long ago bud! Keep going for it, gen 2 shiny was so hard to notice a difference, but there it was.

Thats pretty accurate. I sold mine for $3200 about 2 months ago. Hard to grade is why. tons of psa 9s but very few 10s for the no symbol and the 1st.

Or should that be another new world record to attempt and if so I would recommend checking out CoolTrainerRyan on youtube, he has an massive collection of unopened pokemon products which if opened would probably win this world record times 100 or more.

I know a few other guys who could beat their top 10 in terms of value (including myself even if this was 5 years ago) not sure how guinness determined what "The largest collection" is, because other folks also have more bulk, and also have several binders of sets. Guinness probably just hasn't met other big collectors in the hobby
It seems like they're going on largest collection of unique cards since they showcased the binders and made it sound like they have every set completed. But I do agree that there are probably other collectors that have more. But it's not the job of Guinness to go out and find those people, they need to contact Guinness and submit their collection for the world record ya know?

This is rather easy to achieve if you buy the cards that are less than mint. From what i was hearing, their average top 10 costs are around 4 grand a card. Which tells me they don't have all psa 9s and 10s. Psa 5s could be in the hundreds still, but that's cheaper than spending 100 grand for a card.
If you're after the collection, you shouldn't care about the value as much as finding the unique card. Like they did.

Facts. There is 0 chance this is the largest. I'm a small collector of sports cards and have over 100,000. People pop cases of pokemon cards every week. They have millions.

They are counting different cards - so even if you have 1k of bull Shining Fates common/uncommon/rare, that only ads like 70 different cards to the total.
Each one of them is different so no duplicates. And it’s only rare ones
