Oh yes..ofcourse...recently a friend of mine with 10+ yrs of experience took admission in IIT H..many people do take up MTech admission opportunities through GATE or QIP or sponsored by employer. You can totally do it with your experience. :)
This can be a good discussion really. But before clear me, what exactly you want, what do you mean by specialization here bcoz CSE has no specific specialization like other branches have(microelectronics, vlsi, manufacturing, design, production etc). Did you mean by TA/RA decision?

These specializations are not explicitly named with Mtech programs, Mtech(CSE) is what they offer. Some IITs and IISc offer specific programs with various specialization in CSE like AI, data science, information security etc.
Do the TA offered to every student who has qualified GATE or there is a shortlist prepared for getting selected as a TA? Do we have a choice to work under different professor in different semester? Thank you
Certainly not every GATE qualified is qualified for IITB TA or any other insti TA. TA cutoffs are quite high, one gets shortlisted based upon the GATE score cutoff put up by the IIT in different rounds of admission. Next question is debatable, I would encourage any passing/passed out to throw some light here.
Well for making a career as professor you definitely need masters & PhD, so one step will be done. But I believe having worked as TA under prof in IIT, will not help in making career choice as academician/professor. Yes you will gain some sort of experience of conducting labs, assignments, quizzes etc which should help you in teaching in future. Also don't make a choice of becoming a teacher just because placement was not done( it could be interim option).
TA category is the regular 2 yr MTech. TAP is the TA category through project. There is a project dependency & limited availability ( also not in all branch & at all IITs). Other than that there might be more practical differences which I am not aware of. You are advised to enquire more at department/institute level.

Usually TA's grab jobs easily, since they prepare themselves for that only throughout the course. RA's do develop research interest alongside which let them end up in enrolling for PhDs. 😊

IIT bombay provides RA in GNRE , environmental engineering or industrial engineering ??
I know about IEOR and GNR.
It has both TA and RA in IEOR, but only TA in GNR.

Duration of 3 years is mandatory for RA..I mean that is only why it is RA & different from TA...right..?
