    That was a nice interview. I think that the race is going to be a barn burner and come down to the kick at the end. Parker is looking great, but Katelyn has so much talent. Also got to watch out for the top 2 from Alabama, they could surprise everyone. My money is on Katelyn. Parker’s training is very interesting to me as a distance coach, only running 3 days a week?? That’s crazy?!?

    • @ak8990
      @ak8990 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’m still in awe about it. I always thought cross training wasn’t being utilized as much as it could be in distance running, it’s amazing to see what she can do with so little weekly distance. I would be interested to see just how fast she could get if she was able to increase her weekly distance even more.

    • @michaelcraigie344
      @michaelcraigie344 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I agree as long as she can stay healthy. I coached a talented woman that ran 4 workouts per week and her longest run was 15 miles AND she broke 3 hours in the marathon!!! And I don’t think she did any cross training!!

    • @Vichinsky-ox8px

    The mutual respect and energy they share here is palpable. They’re wise in recognizing how special this time is for them and their teams. An introspective interview leaving little doubt as to their ferocities, and ability to think beyond themselves for the needed support.

  • @Philobiblion
    @Philobiblion 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Wow that was a great interview. These three women will be going at each other tooth and nail tomorrow, but the level of their interaction is so elevated and nuanced. It is gracious, respectful and, frankly, proof of the research that shows distance runners are smarter and are at the top of all college athletes in academic performance. I believe it. That is reflected here in these three, highly intelligent and articulate people who are good at explaining the more complicated and personal aspects of their discipline.
    Part of it has to do with the leadership experience they gain as the low stick for their team. Part of it has to do with their capacity for empathy, supporting their teammates who underperform or suffer injury, or other disability. Obviously, part of it has to do with upbringing, which tees up the question of why really bright and accomplished high school athletes run cross country? This press conference raises more questions than it answers. Thanks for providing it. Meanwhile, NCAA makes it as inconvenient and expensive as possible to actually follow XC on your computer or phone. Then they whinge about how nobody pays attention to cross country.

    • @brianway4240
      @brianway4240 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agree with several points. However, does the NCAA mind that XC is not popular? Wouldn't the organization prefer that it goes away?
