omg I've seen so many Historical Cars & Engines on this one ride / video so fricking sweet ... really wish i was in a position to do this let lone have a ole timey MOW Railcar
It's a lot of fun. I've been doing this for 14 years now and I still don't have a motorcar, just a good friend that does and I get to go on these runs with him.
Thank you for the question. The railroads we use are active tracks. When we have an excursion, it is carefully coordinated with the host railroad. In simple terms, we rent the railroad for a day or two. We do pay for the use of the tracks. Most of the railroads we use don't run on the weekend so it's not a problem. The tracks in this video used to be an active railroad, but is now a very popular tourist railroad that does run on weekends, so we do have to schedule to be in a siding at a certain time so the train can get by. Yes, there are excursions that go over night. There are some runs that can last several days, traveling hundreds of miles. A lot goes into planning these trips since you have to reserve hotel rooms and restaurants etc.
how are people able to do this..i have seen tons or rail car videos but so far have been unable to find sites showing me how to get permission to do the same...unless im searching for the wrong think...any help would be great thank you in advance
You can't just "get permission" to do this. You MUST be a member of NARCOA. This is a highly organized activity that can only be performed through an Event Coordinator with NARCOA and the host railroad. It takes weeks to put together one of these runs.
What a great way to see America....and you get to peek into people’s back yards!
