Hahaha. What a surprise! That's us pictured in the Sound City portion of this video in 1986. Years later Grohl ended up with this console, but I still have two 1073s from back then that Brent Averill racked for me. I'm definitely getting this new Behringer to check it out. Best wishes to everyone on all your projects.
nice 😊 let us know he the two compare!
Now we need a Behrstressor
actually this would be really crazy
need that.
It seems to be uncopy-able this one. Very well guarded secrets.
Yes.
it's actually called an FMR RNC and its great.
what about removing the midas transfo's and replacing them with carnhill ones?
Would love to see Neve develop a Eurodesk
Hahaha! Yes! You mad lads actually did it!
Please do a 1U 273 unit (2 input no EQ)
sind die erst ab November in de verfügbar ?
Ist ab sofort verfügbar!
@@behringer Bestellung ging raus. Vielen Dank an der Stelle was ihr auf die Beine stellt. Ihr leistet eine tolle Arbeit. Weiter So !!
How much is it?
$700
Next is the "Behrchild" 😂
Yes please
😅
Berhtech
😂😂😂
Yes
Behringer, do an ssl 4k! I dare you!
This is awesome! a lot of ppl are very talented and artistic… unfortunately can’t afford a 2k - 3k dollars on a single piece of equipment. So I’m loving what Behringer is doing right now keep it up!!!!
It's probably a decent enough pre for the money but the bulk of this video is just trying to equate this with the original...which kinda stinks.
How would you feel about people buying knock-offs of those talented and artistic people's work?
@@zeitakulobusta that's how parents work. Eventually they become public domain..
Sht, some studios will become fully fledged Behringer studios LOL from Synths to patch bays...
If they make these bad boys well enough, not a person on the planet that can gear shame you 🤷🏻♂️
Yep, they will and especially people like myself, a drummer/percussionist who does tracks and sounds for artists and producers from home
Behringer, can you build us a 16 channel console with this tech, combined with your control surface tech? So we can use the 16 channels for tracking, then press a button and those 16 channels will be the playback. During playback, the faders would be used for automation/recall. Best to make the console in 8-channel buckets that we can expand, in case some people only need 8. The main 8 would have the transport on it, but the other 8 would be an extender only.
So kinda like the Neve Genesis?
+1 … with 24 please, 16 is not enough for a modern session …
@@tobiass638 You'd buy an expander to add more. Also, playback would allow you to bank over, so you'd only need more channels for tracking if you needed more simultaneous inputs.
@somebodyp. Considering the two channel preamp is $700 you would be looking at something probably headed towards $10,000 for 16 channels of micpre's the additional mix bus circuitry, and flying faders.
Not sure that there would be a good market for such a product with the Behringer name on it as even the two channel micpre is a bit upscale for the average Behringer customer at $700.
Awesome... Keep going Behringer.. We want more.. :-)
In these tough times, Behringer be the best friend of many indie engineers around the globe.
Facts
When your competition is a plug-in, you realize how beautiful even entry level analog gear is.
Please make an 8 preamp audio interface with 1073 preamps.
Just wait until they start churning out lunchbox vesrions of these new vintage units.... Those MIDAS lunchracks are already well worth their price...
@@jfn467 hell yeah. a modern audio interface with 8 or even 16 Neve 1073 preamps under 1000£ would literally collapse the recording markets.
8 1073 preamp adat interface.
@marlonmorais71 This has 2 and is gonna be around $600... let's not get carried away and expect miracles from Behringer hahahaha Even though they are controlling the manufacturing of all the components and bringing prices waaaay down, it is still grade A electrical components, so they won't cost nothing 😉
@@hulkslayer626 $700 with an EQ and filter. But drop the EQ circuitry and can it becomr a reality? I suppose the transformer is the most expensive part though...
I keep buying these Behringer re-creations and I have never been disappointed. I even sold my warm audio WA76 ad bought 3x Klark Teknik 76KT and am over the moon. I will buy this one for sure.
My 76KT is way better than my warm audio 76 (super noisy)
Seriously?
@@ronaldirawan3643 Yes, for real. The KT-2A re-tubed is an absolute legend
@@EpicWinz
I put Universal Audio knobs on my KT-76 and now it sounds amazing!
I’m loving what bheringer has been doing over the past so many years. Affordable modern vintage gear!!!!!!
Yes!!! Cheaper component and Chinese (communist…company store) labor!! Good for you!
@@TheSunshineGroup well I’m an audio engineer of 12 or so years and the rule I learned is “if it sounds good, it is good”. I’m not worried about the politics lol. They don’t make my mixes sound better. I buy gear made all over the world and I for one appreciate bheringer for being smart in todays market and putting great sounding gear into the little guys hand. Bheringer is the sling and I’m David!!! Cheers!
@@TheSunshineGroupgood points.
@@TheSunshineGroup Chinese folk need trade too. You don't think this stuff will be Irish, German, or Swiss do you?
❤Making this level of quality available is a great move by Behringer - bravo🎉
Based on Neve 1073DPX (€3200). now for €639 from Behringer (in a couple of months)!
And 2 channels vs 1 Neve.
@@GeoffBosco the 3200€ is for the dual channel
@@ToniJXN Oh, right. I had the price of the new single 1073 with the interface price in my head.
As we say "It's far from rocket science...", this stuff was designed originally before I was born (and I am 50+)...
@@GeoffBosco The DPX is two channels (SPX is the single channel version)
I would have expected this unit would have been made under the Klark name like the KT2a and 1176kt, especially with the talk of Midas. It would be nice to see what is actually inside this unit to know what exactly you are getting here. Other than that from the outside it seems like quite a bargain for two full Neve channels. I paid $800 (on sale) for two Golden Age Pre73dlx micpreamps and while they have tantalum caps, full 1073 preamp circuitry, and an insert they don't have the eq section.
Its KT. Its called the 1273 KT once it ships to you. This must of been a prototype without the KT on the end.
@voodoohex72 Well that's even more odd that it is sold under the Behringer name rather than Klark.
@@7171jay yeah when I got it I Was like why does it say 1273 KT when in this video it doesn't say that. It does also say behringer on it and the box says behringer 1273 KT.
Now all Behringer needs to do is make an LA-2A and I will be able to have my dream vocal chain without going bankrupt
there is one: klark kt-2a
They make the Klark Teknik 2A-KT
I have a kt-2a and didn’t know this
QC issue at 7:32 and at 9:30 switch on CH1 (left). It's making a crummy noise when you're switching frequencies. Hopefully not a sign of what's to expect! ;)
eeeeeeshh, you might want to stay away from analog gear if that bothers you.
Lol what? This combo of the compressor and the preamp is getting my attention, I'll try it for an analog mix bus
??? If you think he was adjusting compressor settings in this video maybe stick to plugins for awhile longer and get your bearings bud
@@pdalton1984I believe he was referring to the compressor Behringer released last week and the preamp this week.
@@Seanrayamusic ok fair enough sorry for the saltiness
@@pdalton1984 Lol yeah I was talking about the 369 compressor combined with this preamp, I didn't word what I wanted to say correctly.
@@pepe7drum I honestly hadn't heard about it yet and now I'm intrigued too lol
the non level matching between in/out is very deceptive in multiple ways.
Yes I agree but welcome to hardware
Most people who use hardware do this, I have noticed this with multi thousand dollars of equipment .
I don't think you should discount this unit because of this but it's good to be critical of it
AB Volume AB Volume AB Volume AB Volume AB Volume AB Volume AB Volume AB Volume AB Volume
*YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEHRINGER DID IT! I DONT CARE WHAT YALL SAY, I HAVE BEEN USING BEHRINGER FOR YEARS, IN THE STUDIO AND ON STAGE AND EVEN ON MY GUITAR RIG AND HAVE YET TO HAVE ISSUES! ..........THESE OTHER COMPANIES ARE OUT TO LUNCH MAKING PRODUCT AND PRICING IT AT TH EPOINTS THEY DO*
I have a dpx and the WA 273eq does not come close. Mainly the di. The di exposed the WA as junk. We'll see on this unit...
Do you have any examples?
Just curious... what's the reason for the front panel controls being "inside-out" from the original 1073? On the original, the outer ring sets frequency while the inner knob sets amount, while on this the inner knob sets the frequency and the outer ring sets amount. Seems like an odd choice to invert the expected control method, especially if someone is already used to (and possibly owns) equipment using the original control scheme.
Possibly a copyright dodge ?
Those pots will need some rewiring
it probably costs less or is more durable in the context of the price point. Gain adjustments are likely to be more often and have more steps and the ring will be more solid on this concentric. Maximizing long term reliability with cheaper parts and minimizing the strain on warranty dept. is likely to be taken quite seriously when you forecast selling many thousands of units at a high rate.
I am flabbergasted by the variety of cool products Behringer is always coming up with...
"coming up with" is a stretch
@@henryhill92lolll
Levee breaks was recorded on a mobile helios console
😮 And Warm Audio & Neve said...nope I'm not ready.
Neve audience is not piss broke musicians lol
Where’s the $299 Neuringermann Tube Mic to go with it
discrete class a circuit & transformers = minimal coloration & signal integrity ??!
i bet ic opamps based circuits have less "coloration" & better signal inegrity than TXs
my Behringer cable tester broke the other day
Honestly, this is great! Companies like Behringer can bring people back to analog and OTB. It's fun to have gear in a rack. Makes you feel creative. Makes you commit instead of reaching for plugins and stacking 5 or 6 of them and constantly flipping between them.
What you’re trying to say is. It lets you put the mouse down and listen to
@@gretamcconkey3459 essentially yes.
makes a professional tape recorder with spare parts for decades to come please
The least you could do is come up with your own aesthetic design. I’m sure Behringer can afford to pay someone that can come up with a visual presentation that isn’t completely riding on the backs of other companies.
Have you slept for last 30+ years?
Premium Transformers, eh? so they cost 3 cents each instead of two cents each?
make a video about using it Recording vocal guitar bass stuff ...... we need to check how it sounds on vocal ,clean stuff .. not only use it for mixing post EQ
Not even golden age project prices are that low.
look alike or sound alike??? this is the question...
I am going to pair this with my MPC One to get that finished drum sound going in,thank you behringer for making this affordable.....
How on earth are the frequency and gain pots inverted??!! wtfff
oh boy, you're right 10:36 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
@@DynamicRockersmakes me seriously think they have never used a Neve in their life. How on EARTH does that happen?
@@Rhuggins Unbelievable! that's a NO for me.
I thought about it, and apparently the pots on the 369 compressor are very flimsy. So they probably inverted the controls because the ring is stiffer than the center for more actuation with gain. It's definitely not grayhill pots, so this is B's way to prevent returns due to broken pots.
@@DynamicRockers they also got the compressor into limiter signal path of the 609 wrong/backwards. In the demo video, the presenter claimed its limiter into compressor, in reality the reference unit is exactly the opposite. Here, they invert the knobs. Both seem like decent units but if Behringer cant seem to get the most basic parts of these units right then I have even more doubts about more complex circuitry inside of the fancy housing, that actually contributes to the sound
I can’t put into words how excited I am about this. I have the Warm Audio 1073 channel strip and have enjoyed it. I’ll be curious how the two stack up to each other.
This is good…FORCE those other companies to bring down their damn prices! It’s gotten so far out of hand!
I doubt Neve will do that, they exist comfortably for the "1%" but I agree, quality studio gear is extremely overpriced... It's hard to find anything good for under 2k....
Midas transformers? I have a Midas Board (pre-Behringer) and 🤔I’ve never bought any behringer gear, but I’m not gonna lie this has me interested especially considering the price. The thing actually looks good too. 👀
They should just put these under the Midas brand.
@behringer could you do an evol fucifier? Cant find one for love nor money. Company disaapeard years ago and nothing like it has been out since
Oh snap, Behringer is releasing outboard gear again. Interesting. I remember back in the early 2000s when I was putting together my first "pro" studio, I bought a ton of Behringer outboard gear. Mainly because it was really affordable I bought mic pres, compressors, and eqs. The whole shabang. All of it was terrible. Since then, I know that Behringer has been releasing some really high quality products and I have bought their 808 machine, Deepmind 12, and their Oberheim synth. I love all of those so I am interested in seeing how this and their 33609 perform.
Neve 1073 dual channel = $3250
Warm audio WA273 = $1599
Behringer 1273 = $699
No Brainer
It’s not “vintage” if it’s brand new.
Just do the same in 500 format, real studio prefer get originals and home studio we don't have space !! Just maybe for a SSL bigsix ??
Bad demo, 12 minutes of waffle over the audio clips. Why talk over the processed audio explaining the effect of the EQ when we could actually just listen? Really annoying tbh, just wish this dude would just keep quiet for more then 3 seconds so we can actually hear the unit.
Boosts 10+ Db, concludes it sounds better.... of course it does. Louder is always better. Level match it pls.
Just tell us what we want to know. How close is it to the real thing?
UM ? its bad enough for clones to get this and that said about them if they really match but i would not buy this as well as the KLARK !
This video, as well as the video for the 369 both have extremely sibilant dialogue. extremely harsh.
Additionally, it would be nice to also hear the gear more than the dialogue at any point in the video.
I will definitely give this gear a try. This and the 369. If it sounds good, it sounds good. Dimebag Darrell's guitar tones were famously recorded through Behringer mic pres. That was way before Midas was in the picture.
He used a Mackie mixer
@@gingataff Watch the video of the studio tour for the guy who engineered it. It was a Behringer mixer.
Behringer leaked releases:
- BehrinLA2A
- BehringSumming
the Klark Teknik 2A-KT has been around for awhile. It's a Behringer.
Why is this guy talking while he is working on this device, and saying, when we cannot not even listen one second to the sound...."It´s pleasing to me " IT´S UNBELIEVABLE !! Bah....
I would buy a Behringer CL 1B!!
Can it be used to add distortion/saturation? Are there benefits for used with synths (except for just EQ. Which is too expensive as single use case for synths for me)?
Yes it can be used to add distortion/saturation, the inductor based equaliser would add additional character to synths.
any preamp can be used to add distortion
I don't need it in my setup, but that's so cool !!! ♥
just not sure how midas transformers holds up against the carnhill ones found in warm audio..
I'm hoping someone can make a mod for this that switches the EQ knobs back to the inner pot being the gain and the outer ring being the frequency selector.
This vintage gear mythomania is getting really stupid.
Why does it look so plastic-y though...looks like some toy for kids made by fisher price
can I use this device together with x32 as a insert ?
Do an 8 channels preamp.
Behringer should take one channel of this and one channel of their 33609 compressor and put them together in one 2U box. This full channel strip, if at sub $1k, would be very competitive
You can still daisy chain both units as they are
@@pepe7drum
Yes. But the point is economy of space, not the functionality itself
@@jloiben12 Oh ok, I think you could get almost the same size unit because the two systems need enough room to fit all the components, that if you really want to stay true to the original design
Why when you van have an extra channel you still can do that the 369 is also 2 channel mono which mean you can chain one each channel fam
This company never has an original idea.
Word.
Beh-1B Next 😊
They keep on surprising us every week. No other brand is so active.
lol bro they just started 2 weeks ago
I just buss everything to the SF300. It gives me the perfect touch of harmonic distortion and warmth.
No Carnhill, no Neve sound.
Yet to see the comparisons, they claim the specs are same...
YES and YES! - One for each channel :)
Those of us old enough to remember Behringer's earliest days and their sordid history will likely never get that wicked taste out of our mouths.
what did they do?
They're focused on the new producers now. It's a much bigger market today and they have much better products.
I can still hear the hiss from my eurodesk crosstalking through from 1998
A bit like the Škoda car which is now decent.
very true, but when I bought the Poly-D, I was convinced! The Behringer of the 90's definitely isn't the Behringer of today.
Again!! congratulations Behringer on the release, happily ordered the 369.
Mr Behringer representative (who have a nice voice tone) we appreciate your detailed description, but plz, we need to hear the BOX 😅
I have the UAD version in my DAW, which is very good too.
Ok but will it break in 3 years?
You've spelt "months" wrong 😂
Maybe sooner
It's still Behringer unfortunately....
Where is BX700?
Where's behringer Linn drum? More vaporware from behringer
6:23 - How come he's turning the outer ring (frequency knob) but then saying he's adding "more 220" as if he's boosting something? And why does the outer ring go past 220? 220 is the last selectable frequency. The real unit doesn't let you turn the knob past 220 like he's doing at 6:25.
Btw, I'm not complaining. I'm genuinely curious, in case I'm missing something! Does this unit have a variable frequency past 220 on that selector?
It looks like they switched the frequency knobs with the gain knobs. So their outer knob is the gain knob, and the inner knob is the stepped frequency knob.
I would need a 1 channel version please ;)
I want to see how it tracks.
Will they make 500series
While this is a great piece, there should be an offshoot that is the preamp / HPF as a single channel. I'm not sure why this is not a thing.
Please release the Wing Rack :-( I'm so excited about it. After using the x32 Rack on tour, every weekend, i'm looking forward to upgrade our x32 Rack (monitor) and M32 (foh) to the wing series
Folks, this is Behringer. Probably worse then warm audio 😂 great door stopper
Their build quality actually increased quite a bit from years ago... It's yet to see how all these synths and stuff stand the test of time
This is a good tutorial for using a 73. Cheers!
More than a preamp you would need a de-esser
Heritage audio is a little more but its awesome
Next 4 API preamps with no eq for drums please
F the haters... keep doing what you do. Can't wait for a stereo parametric EQ and a Saturation unit!
Great deal on for mixing and tracking.
Behringer is about to be the leading studio gear brands!
Awesome, loving this and the replicated aesthetic
