Dark Side of the Moon....my favorite album still. PF were a bunch of talented intellects. Not surprised he got his PPL. Greetings from sunny and warm St. Petersburg, Florida.
Bell 47. The best. 3 seater. 6 cylinder. Love it. Got my lincense in 90 . Burbank California. 35 bx an hour back then. Today it’s 500 bx h. Flight lessons. Just crazy.
As i was learning to fly- it was unforgettable to join the momentary laps of reason_Tour at "Valle Hovin" Oslo back in 1988! : Listening to Learning to fly, was unforgettable experience :) Thank you all ! for the Music !
Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon 1973 ( Iwas 15th yo.) accompanied me through my youth, just like the album Meddle, which was formative for my development in the field of music... Thank you for that...
I only recently found out David Gilmour is a pilot. I had no idea Nick Mason was as well. Great story about these two sharing AC resources. That's really cool. Keep the brown side down! Cheers!
What a delightful Man. So humble. Yet a living legend of the rock world. I too hated to fly and made my wife miserable when we traveled. So I decided to take a flight lesson to try to gain control of the anxiety. We now own a Mooney M20J that we love to fly. I didn't know that David Gilmour was also a pilot. Thanks for all the great content.
Good stuff. Was a pilot myself so this is very interesting. Just to look at him and hear him makes me have to go listen to his work on "Time", from Dark Side... Best timing and instrumentation I've ever heard.
Great interview, For many years I cleaned and did my Teflon sealant treatment to the cub and the Staggerwing, loved the Staggerwing an amazing aircraft. Also used to do the Mustang, Stearman, Yaks, and was even able to do some cars at Le Mans when I worked for EMKA EMI Motor racing. Can remember Nick flying the helicopter into Le Mans, also cooked him lunch of piri piri chicken pasta!
Very enjoyable interview. I was not aware of Nick's aviation passion, I do have an entry in my logbook, Jan 23rd '88, with D Gilmour as passenger in DH82A ZK-AUE. (Pink Floyd NZ tour).
AUE...Getting back a bit? Saw a few Tiger Moths out of Wanganui which had an "A' back in the day. Maybe early manure spreaders? Fletchers and the odd Lodestar too?
Part of this interview really gave me the giggles. Question - Do you still have a Jet Ranger? Answer - No, I looked this morning and I haven't got one. I guess you have to be a member of Pink Floyd to forget what helicopters you own.
Very good. He’s absolutely right about going abroad. We ve just been to Bordeaux and it’s easier than you think, though obviously weather dependent unless your instrument rated.
Perhaps in the video description, a list of the aircraft he’s talking about. Thanks very much! I thoroughly enjoyed this interview. What a nice guy and what a nice person you are as well.
The green-eyed monster speaks! Pink Floyd totally deserve every perk their money can afford. The world would be a much poorer place without their wonderful creativity. (My youth was sculpted by their music, so many thanks for that.) I’d really love to hear that PF are supporting WW2 aviation projects like the Mosquito rebuild etc…..
@@jipangoo And obviously if you had accumulated their wealth. You’d spend it all on saving the world and live your entire life modestly wouldn’t you? Of course you would. 👍
What a lovely man! So modest. And how great to have your wife enjoy the flying as well.

Nice, I enjoyed this and a great insight into what real success can bring... Well done to Nick for making it work.
Met Mr Mason after the late great Brian Balman popped in to the school I was working at to organise my FI renewal, lovely guy.
Great interview, really well done. Keep up the great work and God Bless.
Much appreciated!

Nick Mason has always been an interesting gentleman. Great interests in motorsports and aviation.

@@jeffsimon9594 Thanks Geoff!🤣

@@jeffsimon9594 Jeff you are good sport. And a thorough fact checker. Any Pink Floyd fan is a friend of mine.

You might wanna broaden your listening then

Such a nice bloke.
"Learning to fly" Pink Floyd.
Worked on and in his house in London lovely man.

@@wadeconnell1493 AUE crashed in 1957 doing just that. Restored in '86. DC3's were also employed in that role. Nick's L4 is also a lovely aeroplane.
Nice one, I was at that show in Auckland
Great interview. First GA aircraft I flew in was a Jodel. Always helpful if partners are supportive and into it.
Excelente musico e pessoa. Desejo-lhe tudo de bom.
Great pilot video, thanks.

If he flies as well as he played let's go!
Some photos of his aircraft would be nice.
I was thinking the same thing!
Great stuff,I am pleased he is able to support aviation, how about the peoples mosquito project that would welcome some high profile publicity.
Glad that worked for him. As a professional pilot I still hate sitting down the back in turbulence.

Brendan O'Brien is an absolute legend! 👍
Brilliant!!

Flying on commercial services used to be an enjoyable experience but not anymore unfortunately
I know Brendan Obrien, he is right nutter but a brilliant pilot.
"Money" Keep your hands off my stash"
Didn't he once own a Hunter or a pair of hunter jets? I thought it was weird that wasn't mentioned? Or has the Mandela effect struck again?
As far as I know he didn't. Could have been David Gilmour with Intrepid Aviation?
I only wish they spoke English. A bit hard to understand sometimes. :) Turned on closed caption and it couldn't quite make out all the conversation.

Clearly you don't know what I do for a living
And by the way, don't go putting your thoughts on me!
As an aviator I feel rather humble ! I always loved the Lama but the B3 way less maintenance !
