This show is one of the most accurate depictions of adulthood I’ve ever seen from a cartoon. These characters don’t feel like they’re fictional, besides the fact it’s a gum ball machine and various animals and all the supernatural stuff, at its core it’s what the title says…a regular show.
What happened is that it never fell. It stayed right on top all 8 seasons AND that amazing movie. It ended when the creators wanted it to and what a finale it was. A once in a blue moon bonafide masterpiece.
This show has everything a Cartoon Network product could have: - Funny and relatable cast; - Memorable stories; - Great music and writing; - It tackles serious subjects wonderfully; - And the best part of the show, the comedy.
@@SheLxvesDre Same, I felt like they took up so many episodes of that season and I couldn't stand it. I haven't completely finish all the episodes because of that
@@SheLxvesDre I don't consider it a love triangle because Mordecai was in love with Margaret, but then fell in love with CJ and just wanted to be friends.
I loved Rigby and Eileen's relationship . I found it really inspiring that the character who was arguably the worst of the two at the start, ended up being the best of the two. Like it was just really nice seeing not only how the immature and selfish guy is becoming more mature and less selfish, but how Eileen encourages him to be a better person, which I'm a sucker for when it comes to romance. I also love the irony how you would think that Rigby would be the one to be bad at relationships, when in reality, Mordecai is the one who's terrible at them, while Rigby gets a lot of character development from them. Plus, Rigby's whole arc is a really good message about how anyone can make something of themselves, you just have to have the right motivation.
that was one of the best things of the show, I dislike a little bit how Mordecai was becoming a bit stale and jerk in comparison, I mean it really works and makes sense to me, cuz he is no longer the "better" one in the duo and feels jealous that he is losing his leader position, but I wished he would have a redeeming conclusion too, that he would perhaps realize how big jerk he is and try to better himself or find himself finding some talent of sorts where he can be good, while still remaining himself, but he just kinda became more of a jerk whenever Rigby started to have success with love life or highschool or seeing him mature, it's his way of sabotaging date like when Rigby did when Mordecai betrayed their friendship in a way, but also he stepped back as main character too in final seasons to make room for Pops and other stuff
He wasn’t wrong when saying it was enjoyed by kids and adults. This was my favorite show when I was around 8-9 and my parents hated all the shows I watched. This was the only tolerable one to them and they actually ended up enjoying it a lot and we’d watch it in the family room a lot.
Someone made a distinction that I really like that said that there is a difference between "family content" and "kids content". Family implies that there is something for the whole family.
Regular Show was ahead of its time since the 80s revival era started a couple years after the show premiered. It was also just an incredibly well made cartoon that a lot of people loved and still love.
I loved every episode of Regular Show, from start to finish. I laughed all the way through the series and cried at the end. Regular Show was the show that was with me from age 9 to 16, I never missed an episode and watched it all the way through on Hulu twice. There will never be another show like Regular Show in my opinion and I;m beyond thankful for it's creation.

As a kid I always thought Moredecai was the alright one, and Rigby was a little shit. But Rigby actually had character development, I can't really the same for Mordecai, he's definitely a Simp
Regular Show was something that came out at the right time (with the turn of cartoons and 80’s nostalgia turning for the best) and ended at the right time (with people who grew up watching grew up with the characters in terms of development).
Yeah I’ve always wondered about the slight swearing in the first episodes. I didn’t know that it was originally slated for adult swim. I mean, I still don’t but gotta take your word for it as I can’t imagine Cartoon Network would allow that off the rip. It makes more sense that it was intended for a more mature audience in the very beginning
The show was never on adult swim... Guys... They got away with it because the time slot 8pm on Monday nights... But also the first season wasn't censored when it originally aired... Mostly I believe, because back then, cartoon Network didn't care because they were desperate for ratings... But as the show gained ratings and the demographic expanded they were censored and not allowed to do explicit jokes and language... Which led them to do more innuendos... Season one episodes where censored when they were re aired
I’ve been looking back, rewatching, and researching the old shows and movies I use to watch, with regular show I’m currently rewatching, and I really enjoy the fact that this show still stands the rest of time and it’s much better than I remember it being.
@Pampered Aliens that episode from s1, the one with fist pump and coffee man. Rigby said "ooo, a contract! Lets sign it" and then later when the coffee man and his assistant ask for his part of the contract, they (M&R) got mad and chase them all the way to the concert. Only to sleep during the concert, thats the most hated moment (imo) during this show.
Yes rigby did a crappy thing but he way more supporting friend , he actually likes mordecai . Mordecai is a jerk to him an is only friends with him to make himself look better an smart. Once rigby grows up he can’t take it he didn’t even go to his graduation

Nightmare - Yes! That scene was *actually hilarious* all around coming from this show. But I don't know why a lot of people didn't find it legit funny. On top of that, it was never really meant to be taken seriously just like pretty much all other character moments in Regular Show (at least in the earlier seasons).

I'm probably one of the few older audience members and I loved watching this show with my then tween sons. It brought back so many nostalgic references from my childhood. The first couple episodes I was like yeah this writer and producer has to be my age and similar. My son's loved the show and I'm glad I was able to spend time watching with them and enjoying it too.
i miss this show so much, it had such a big impact on my childhood. my sense of humor stemmed from mordecai and rigby themselves. this show will always have such a special place in my heart.
dude i was watching those "regular show out of context" videos and i realised that my humor came entirely because of muscle man, to this day i find people going apeshit and breaking and punching stuff while screaming the pinnacle of comedy
One of the main things about this show that me and my brother always talk about is High Five Ghosts backstory. They never really delve into it and they could have made him one of the coolest characters if they did. We always used to talk about what we thought they would have done with it. Especially if they didn’t make him almost just muscle man’s sidekick. I really wish we got to see more of him and his family
I liked the earlier seasons, it's shit now but like seasons 1-3 are fine, they aren't really special but they're still fine, oh except for the one where everyone except raven is turned into old people and they all die, that's the best one.
My old TV has the cartoon network logo burnt into the screen. Sadly you can only see it when it's a black screen but it playing every day from 2-10 hours for 12 years and always being in the same spot caused the logo to be burnt into the screen.
Tbh i didn’t really mind Mordecai’s relationships, that happens. I appreciate that at the end he didn’t end up with Margaret, she just became apart of the past like most people in our lives become. Same with CJ.
Agreed. I know a lot of people were upset by him ending with someone different, but I'm glad they took that route. I don't think if he ended up with either CJ or Margaret that the relationship would last with CJ it would've been because of trust issues and Margaret they saw they're future and didn't like it and it's more realistic with him ending up with someone else.
The problem is how they spent so much time in the show hinting that they would be together only to have it not happen. They didn’t even have Mordecai end up with CJ. I didn’t like CJ only because she got violent when angry and that screams toxic. It’s fine if Margaret isn’t who he ends up with later in life but at least have it happen in the show if you’re gonna spend so much time building up to it.
Isn’t that life though? You feel as though you spend so much time focusing on the “one” and the whole time the one is some blip in the time span of the rest of your life that ppl don’t talk about as lovingly.
@@googleuser6250 okay, but that’s literally the OP’s entire beef with RS; it got too regular. It wasn’t supposed to be that realistic; we watch cartoons to escape reality for awhile, not live it vicariously. You also have to admit that the whole “Will they, won’t they,” thing with Margaret gets extremely annoying.
C t g s l a y e r - the ""will they, won't they"" mordaret thing and literally making fun of it was *completely* the work of the crappy writers who came in later in the show and finale, and pretty much ruined everything what JG Quintel originally had in mind for his Regular Show when it started out. JG's original idea for Margaret was for her to be a dream girl and who Mordecai would've *always* liked. But I do agree that cartoons and characters should always, Always be an outlet from reality (especially nowadays) as putting too much reality type stuff into them just kills the enjoyment and imagination.
I love that no matter how weird Regular Show got, it's writing remained extremely competent and understandable from the perspective of their universe. It means you don't need an explanation for what's happening. You just need to understand what's happening and you get drawn in by contrasting, well written characters, that while annoying to other characters rarely become annoying to the viewer and its perfect. I could go on about this era of Cartoon Network forever, I grew up with it and it shaped my sense of humor today. I really hope more amazing shows get aired on CN. My childhood still isn't over and to have more well written characters that I can grow with, just as I did years ago, would be very comforting to me and I can image many others
I’m actually rewatching Regular Show on Hulu right now. There’s a lot of major jokes that I forgot existed, but when they come up, I have flashbacks from when my brother and I watched and repeated them when we were little.
This show was a weekly must see for me and my son for years until his mom and I split, and I only got to see him on weekends. I lost track of the show for the last few seasons. I caught back up with it on my own, as it was always a tremendous show and entertaining for kids and adults. The show did get a little shaky in the last couple of seasons, but the ending may be one of the best endings of any series, period, and brought a tear to my eye. Jolly good show.
From ages 16-21 I had a very best friend, we were so so close and we watched Regular Show constantly. We had a big falling out and we haven't talked in like six years and rewatching the show and trying to watch this video is very bittersweet :(
I really appreciate seeing this. Had a similar situation happen with my old lifelong friend. Loved this show as a kid, and even more now for helping me cope with how things fell apart. Thank you for sharing!
i remember when regular show was still on the halloween episodes being a part of our yearly tradition with my family, we always had certain shows we watched around holidays and regular show was so good it was one of them, i miss that era of cartoon network
1:42:17 They actually had to pull some serious strings in their budget to use Through the Fire and the Flames in that episode, even if no one noticed it until someone had to point it out
2010: Chowder was canned because it didn't appeal to an older demographic of boys. 2018: Total Dramarama premiered and is still airing to this day. Greenblatt got robbed.
One thing that will always upset me about regular show is how in one episode when Margret and Mordecai are breaking up they show them in the stars talking how they’re going to be together in the future only to end with Mordecai marrying a different person.
@The Oxymoron Okay, but if that was the case why was so much attention placed on Mordecai's love life? And why foreshadow as if Mordecai and Margaret are going to end up together? Don't get me wrong, I understand what you're saying and I very much would probably like the message of it had it been gone about correctly, but it was badly written as far as structure. It was so obvious Mordecai was supposed to end up with Margaret (which JG confirmed that they would have ended up together had Mordecai not screwed up so many times or been so wishy-washy) simply by looking at their designs. (ex., Starla and Muscle Man, Rigby and Eileen) even when they're in space in one episode Mordecai says "I miss her." In reference to Margaret. Overall, I feel like Regular Show was a great show with a great ending and I still actively watch it, but doing all of that with Mordecai's love life only having him to end up with neither love interest is by far one of the biggest (and imo the only) writing mistakes in the show.
I think the special thing about mordecai is that it's supposed to be a time capsule of a short period of Quintel's life. He might have been a bit like that when he was finishing high school/starting college, but he most likely moved on as a person. But since mordecai is supposed to be him in that time period (plus obvious exaggeration) he is bound to not have much character development in that sense. It's cool to see that in shows like close enough we get to see another more mature and serious yet playful side of him, you can really see a big development between the two shows, showing that he has grown a lot
I’m praying that shows like Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, Chowder, Flapjack, Adventure Time and Gravity Falls are made when I have kids, cos you know I’d be eager to watch them too
Tbh, a lot of great shows are still coming out- there were Craig of the Creek, Amphibia, The Owl House, Infinity Train... I'm pretty syure that future looks bright for animation
I still love the fact that they could make a 10 minute episode feel like a 20 minute episode. never a dull moment. proof of great writing in my opinion
As a young adult who dropped out of college, Mordecai sees himself finally growing up and not happy with how his life was turning out. This was referenced in a few other episodes.
Like when they had to wait for maellards package, how he hated getting paid for stupid jobs, and wanted to do more in life than working at a park, though what I didnt get was him wanting to be a pilot in that episode when hes always wanted to be an artist
Kai-Aaron 1973 Nice to see another Margie fan here. Seriously. I love Margaret too all around. She was well designed both in look and personality and is very hot for a cartoon robin bird gal. And she's my forever RS favorite who's definitely reimaginable. I just wish she had never been essentially pulverized by the fandom when the show was still going. I'll never understand why characters like her get so much automatic hate for no legit reason.
@@alllittlethingzz yeah, but CJ wasn't really a good person either. There were so many times she would blow up for misunderstandings and nearly killed everyone multiple times
I'll never forget the moment my mom got hooked into the show. It was when I was watching it on TV and the song Hangin' Tough from New Kids on the Block played. She is a massive fan of them and watched the episode for it and watched more and she loves the series as do I.
@@ohnobro1424 When they wanted respect from Benson so they started playing the arcade game Broken Bonez at the coffee shop and the song played during a montage of their games. It was called High Score.
Mr. Friendship Regular Show is my favourite cartoon besides Rick and Morty and Bojack. But they’re both adult cartoons so I guess it’s my favourite cartoon
The amazing thing about this show is that it so naturally blended the absolutely absurd with the relatable day to day things. Like one second the characters would be trying to get cake the next they’re in baby gods or something about to die again out of no where and it always just goes together so well, every episode has a good amount of normal and weird that blends together so well it creates a very weird universe. The characters are also so unique and iconic, they are all distinguishable and have very obvious personalities that makes the show very easy to follow.
I had a friend that did this with Ed, from, "Ed, Edd, & Eddy". ...he went so overboard with it, that his mother had a few select words, when she wanted him to stop. And then he would stop. Immediately.

Joel Blake the only notable moment I stopped watching with the whole CJ Mordecai and Margaret love triangle I *ABSOLUTELY* hated those episodes.

I had no idea they were originally on adult swim. God imagine if the show stayed an adult swim show. Wings could just be booze/any drugs.
It never aired on adult swim, it _was_ but they swapped at some point

One thing that will always upset me about regular show is how in one episode when Margret and Mordecai are breaking up they show them in the stars talking how they’re going to be together in the future only to end with Mordecai marrying a different person.
Yeah
The future can change you know
@The Oxymoron Okay, but if that was the case why was so much attention placed on Mordecai's love life?

Nice to see another Margie fan here.
She was mad annoying and kept treating Moredcai like crap
@@alllittlethingzz yeah, but CJ wasn't really a good person either. There were so many times she would blow up for misunderstandings and nearly killed everyone multiple times
@@alllittlethingzz I don't think she Mordecai like crap
I'll never forget the moment my mom got hooked into the show. It was when I was watching it on TV and the song Hangin' Tough from New Kids on the Block played. She is a massive fan of them and watched the episode for it and watched more and she loves the series as do I.
Which episode?
@@ohnobro1424 When they wanted respect from Benson so they started playing the arcade game Broken Bonez at the coffee shop and the song played during a montage of their games. It was called High Score.
@@TheFacelessStoryMaker ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhthatsright
Oh, Regular Show, I can never not love just sitting back and binging this show
Same! Thank you for the support!
Me too.
Mr. Friendship Regular Show is my favourite cartoon besides Rick and Morty and Bojack. But they’re both adult cartoons so I guess it’s my favourite cartoon
@@Eli-dx5zr which is funny, since Regular Show is about as close it could be to a show for adults.
I'm surprised you didn't talk much about Rigby's family other than Don. Like his father basically disowned him for like a majority of his life.
*Skips kills Rigby in arm wrestling*
Me: so that’s the skips way •_•
Damn Skippy.
Dead. I laughed like a maniac. It really brought the room down.
Yeah but we can *SKIP* over that (I’m not sorry)
Yeah my mate beats me in arm wrestling I beat him with a fucking table and he dies
I still wonder how Rigby could've died from an arm injury... apparently.
Imagine not knowing regular show at all, coming here and learning about it must be crazyyy 😂😂
Honestly the bad kiss episode confused me so much with their time travel for a while.
Same!
It's time travel.
Ah yes, I remember many elementary school days of running around the playground during recess and copying every sounds and jokes produced by this show
I had a friend that did this with Ed, from, "Ed, Edd, & Eddy". ...he went so overboard with it, that his mother had a few select words, when she wanted him to stop. And then he would stop. Immediately.
Me in late elementary school: "WOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHH.....!"
and then getting completely ignored realizing barely anyone from your school is cultured.
Dude, I seriously wanna be your friend, I lived through those days doing the same thing you did, I even remember getting into trouble
Omg i did the same thing
I know that in the official description for the show that Skips is described as being a yeti, but dude I swear I'll always see him as a white gorilla.
*[You know else uses VRV....MY MOM]*
Little Larimar Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
*Benson* knock it off you two and get back to work before I fire you
*Pops laugh ensues*
Why did I forget to add the word “who” -.-
Little Larimar you can edit it.
This dude is talking about regular show in a way that truly captures what makes it so special. You're so talented.
I read this in Jerry’s voice.
Rigby: “don’t do anything you’re going to regret”
Mordecai: *sniffs*
Me: *tear in my eye*
“Whose at the door? Woah it’s bright. Can I borrow $5?” - My favorite scene from this show 😂
I remember first seeing Regular Show and thinking how edgy it was , feeling like it belong on adult swim.
Sounds Close Enough.
Alpha Jay Show I only episodes I like of regular show is temp check and bad to be blonde because I appreciate Rigby and morahi who acts normal and not acts like a jerk to each other
@@TheAlphaJayShow i saw what you did there
Same. When I started watching, they still hadn't censored the first season yet lol
@@TheAlphaJayShow oh I see
It’s one of my favorite cartoons to come out of the 2010s decade if not of all time. Really loved it but kinda fell out of it before the space finale season. But rewatching it in recent years really cemented it as one of my all time favorites.
I really enjoy the show still!
It was amazing bro for sure
I thought it was 09 when it came out
Cam / The Unstable Nerd Yeah same it was my favorite show during my childhood but once the space season came out I kind of lost interest, for me it just seemed so weird to put the main characters in such a different environment for a whole season
Cam / The Unstable Nerd You should really finish the show if you haven't. It has a really great ending.
"You will see loved ones come, and go......"
"I've already lost the one I love"
Me: *I'M NOT CRYING!*
That episode was even more depressing then when my loved-one died...
Jk, I never had love🙃
