I think Family Guy's biggest problem is... well shit these are actually hilarious. However these are in clip forms, thus the problem with Family Guy. Trying to sort it into some coherent 30 minute plot just doesn't hold up for the show anymore, early Family Guy sure, but doesn't work now, however in these clip forms... yeah they really really work super well. Not like South Park where they take a whole episode based off 1 major flaw in society or other things, and then by the end of it have a message that wraps up all the episodes arcs or single arcing plot, to tell people yeah it's funny, but it's also something we should think about. That's also what fuels Rick and Morty, some whole meaning in just that 1 episode that is over arcing and teaches a message of some kind, whether you see it or not, whether they spell it out for you or not. Probably why Simpsons fell flat too, Family Guy and the Simpsons are just running on the same formula of mixing a bunch of clips together to try and state something. When South Park or Rick and Morty do that in an episode, say Morty's Mind Blowers, it still has an over arcing theme, and is intentionally doing that because you expect that humor from that individual episode or other episodes like it such as the Interdimensional TV (which in Morty's Mindblowers Rick says they are doing that instead of Interdimensional TV for that episode).
