The outcry from people was enough that my city's local paper had an article about how a lot of black people were outraged and thought this show was racist because it made them look like low IQ morons and absolute degenerates. All I know is that this show was just funny as hell and wasnt afraid to cross lines out of fear it hurt someones feelings. And lets be honest, this show mocked everyone, no one was sparred in this show. We need more shows like this and so many others of that era today.

The funny thing is A Pimp Named Slickback ends up being right. She's only with Tom because he's black & she wants a "fun" dangerous gangsta. So when he starts acting more like a black stereotype she's into it. The Boondocks is honestly brilliant. It points out so much bullshit in society that sadly still applies to this very day.
He is one of the most memorable characters in that show and he only ever showed up in like 3 or 4 episodes. Also he is one of the most consistently unchanged and unaffected people in the show.

I think it doesn't get old because of how genuine A Pimp named Slickback is about everything he's saying. He's somewhat like Uncle Ruckus in that what he's saying shocks you for a second: with Ruckus, it's so out of line and over the top that you don't take him seriously and find hilarity where others might find offense. With APNS he has the same over the top angle, but you kind of see it coming because... well he's a dude in a purple suit with a bejeweled cane; what the hell did you expect him to say? It doesn't get old because you enjoy the hilarity of his perspective on the world every time he shows up!
I think part of it is also because A Pimp Named Slickback has some respectability despite the lack of morals. that is actually one strong point of the show that they do not Strawman antagonists nor immoral characters. That said I am wondering how he got that one woman to deal with his computers. she could have definitely charged a working rate higher than a decent computer was worth. even if she lacked experience that she could put on a resume I can imagine companies would give her a chance just cause she is hot.

Its been like 15 years since since I think I saw the article that said it. It's excellent satire but it's not just satire of black american culture but also of white american culture surrounding black american communities. Just look at how the white people are portrayed in the show. Most of them just in their own little bubbles and react to black people like they have no idea how to approach the situation while others react like they have total immunity from anything black people do. Take for example Uncle Ruckus's song at Wuncler's garden party. UR is saying some very racist stuff and the white people are like "well, a black man said it so i guess it's okay". And then they applaud. The point is that it's not okay. It doesn't matter who the person's race is, it's not okay to call people by slurs when your intention is to hurt their feelings. It's not okay to say that that slavery was alright, even if the person saying it is black. It's not okay to be proud of your ignorance.
