Oooh I’ve been so busy with company I’m just getting to your review now. What a great job you did and your comments about the omniscience have given me a whole new aspect of the novel to reflect on!
Great review Sonya. I really enjoyed Jones short story collection Lost in the City and have All Aunt Hagar's children on my shelf. You've convinced me I should add this too.
Thanks, Jo. I bought both short story collections yesterday. I want to read them this year. My question is, why hasn't he written more? Is he working on another novel? Is that all? :(
Maybe he needs a nudge to get on it ;) I just realized that the stories in All Aunt Hagar's Children are connected with those in Lost in the City so I'm wondering if I need to go back and reread them.
What a lovely review, and a nice companion to Shawn's somewhat more enthusiastic review LOL. I'd never heard of this author, and it sounds like I need to remedy that

Thanks, Shawn. :)
All of you guys reviewing this have sold me on it so hard. Thank you for adding your take!
Thanks, Kazen. I'll be interested to see what you think about it.
I loved this book as well. Your review is excellent.
I feel like I'm in a small club of people who've read and loved the book. :) Have you read his short stories?

Thanks, Laura. I bought his other short story collections on the strength of the novel.
Isn't it awesome how we hadn't read this while it was on our shelves all that time? Until now? Thanks, Sonya; I really enjoyed our buddy read.
I enjoyed it so much too and we'll do it again.
Any Human Heart is in my top ten novels. The Known World has been ripening on my shelf for a long time. Must bump it up on my TBR.
Any Human Heart is one of my top ten, too! I hope you like The Known World.
I want to read this so badly!
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, Karen. :)
