That’s really well done. Able seaman Jess bravo 👏🏻. Nice and clean onboard. Not as cramped as I expected. You can tell it’s good crew who work well. I regret not taking up the offer to be an officer in subs 30 years ago. However, we only had old diesel smelling Oberon subs in those days. Not these Collins subs which are a modern sub with far more liveable spaces despite their age now. These submariners will think they died and went to heaven when they start getting their nuclear boats. They deserve the best we can afford and the best chance to survive and fight to win.
Awesome..! Thanks for letting us Civi's on board for a little bit..! I bet you Guys/Gals can't wait for your new Boats...! Cheers, thanks for doing what you do...!
Great tour thanks! Next time, show the racks, heads, officers quarters, galley, bridge and ops room if possible, feel like a lot more could have been presented, good to see nonetheless.
You have an awesome boat there and a great look around. You did very well and I bet you have an incredible life in the Australian Royal Navy. Aye Aye Captain! Dive! Dive! Dive!. 😇😀
lol this is the biggest unicorn in Australian military history. The US will never give Australia its subs. It’s always America first. Australia got scammed big time. Trump will never allow it. Biggest scam ever. Wake up.
The first in-service United States Navy Block IV Virginia-class boat is planned to be sold to the RAN in 2032 and the second in-service Block IV in 2035. The third boat to be sold to the RAN in 2038 will be a new Block VII without the Virginia Payload Module. BTW, the best nuclear attack subs the US built were the Sea wolf class but too expensive and so only three were built.
@@TheEwanMC : Keep on the good job on these Collins as they might have to serve for a looong time again before being replaced by any nuke submarine ..Greating from France ! :)
Great boat, I don't know why more navies didn't go for the idea of ditching AIP for more batteries & massive power generation, for fast recharge. Sure, they're not fast like SSN's but they can still stay under water for a damn long time.
I still remember the submariners getting around with "underwater rock concert" T-shirts on at FBW, referring to how loud these boats are underwater as recorded by the Yanks. Also, I've seen better acting in B-grade porn.
Toxic culture, women on boats who struggled through any given task & spent the majority of sea trips hiding... I was glad I got out after 6 yrs as an ET! Never again!
Have you served? Don't think so. If you did, you'd recognise that diversity brings additional context, viewpoints and opinions which form a better picture of the battlespace than an echo-chamber of homogenous leadership and sailors.
Can I ask whats the point of this? These are well past their use by date, plagued with troubles, useless in the modern world. Are we supposed to be 1. Reassured? 2. Confident? 3.comfortable? Imo no.
And yet still one of the most capable Diesel-Electric submarines in the world. Yes, their initial roll-out had quite a lot of problems, but they've proven time and again in SINKEX and RIMPAC to be incredible potent for the role they are designed for and what the RAN demands. Incredible silent running, intelligence gathering capability and a potent punch in the MK48MOD7. This will only be improved by the Collins Class life improvement programme.

Got to keep China guessing
This is intended to help recruitment, not prevent it...
@@jackmatthews939 just show the officers quarters and officers mess then 😂
I worked on the construction of the Collins. Great to see it here. Thanks for sharing.
The only thing diving is the retention

Perhaps not the best title?
Brings back memories of the two lost on HMAS Otama.
I'm sure the Collins is a capable submarine but those nuclear Virginia class submarines will be a welcome upgrade to the Royal Australian Navy.
Is this coming from an American?
Do you think we will get them ?

Navy pulling out all the re-runs to bolster recruiting😂
I've seen this movie. It's all fun & games till someone starts shooting at you.
The salt pinches nickname should be Blue. 🤣
How many are sea worthy?
All the best. Stay safe.
Should’ve got nuclear years ago when Lang Hancock wanted them.
Lang Hancock, noted Military Analyst.
Michael Winslow is a much cooler sonar guy! Spaceballs!
That joke is "sub"-par because he was a radar guy! :P

"Life on Deck" an unfortunate title for a doco about a submarine!,
Toxic culture, women on boats who struggled through any given task & spent the majority of sea trips hiding... I was glad I got out after 6 yrs as an ET! Never again!
a navy statement?life on deck "a sub mariners life is below deck" navy boffins?
A deck's a deck get over it.
Huge mistake letting women in to the armed ... alone the submarines . A HUGE hindrance to recruitment...
