Hi Dave, I really like the Pico, I find it so much easier to get the information you need when diagnosing when comparing it to the hantek that could miss important information. Although for the price I can't knock the hantek, I had loads of fun with it and learned a lot. That battery test is a nice feature 👍 Hope you had a good Christmas and All the best for the new year mate
great vid Dave all brilliant lads I am subbed to them all. I got the the Pico 2204A just to start out as you say its great starter back door tool. looking forward to more vids in 2021 merry Christmas and a happy new year
Hi Dave my guess is that current spike has something to do with electric power steering doing a self test ,if it has one of course! I'm glad you have bought a picoscope, so I can learn from you. I done the same started off with autel scope then I realised that everyone I was trying to learn from,or wanted a known good was using pico ,then the pico library! An opportunity came for me to buy a secondhand 4425 advanced kit with wps500 . The other thing I noticed is people start off with making their own pressure sensor try that for while then buy the proper thing. I love your honest reviews BTW I was not aware the knipex stuff was so good.
It is something turning on tho this car has hydraulic PS ran of the crank. You've been lucky getting the 2nd hand kit, they dont crop up too often. Yes honest reviews on here cos we are not selling anything, its why i dont post links
Such a brilliant video Dave, please do more of Pico videos I haven't bought any scope but really wanting to learn about it, happy new year in advance 👍
Hi Dave, i found your channel a couple of weeks ago and i must say im loving it. I work on Tractors and agri machinery myself, with the modern equipment now a days being more complicated and having so many electronic controllers on board im going to take the plunge into scoping. any chance you could do a demonstration on how you would use a scope to check the SOC and SOH of batteries on a machine that uses 2 x 12 batteries connected in parallel ?
Cheers Dave , I think the pico stuff would be too advanced for me as a weekend mechanic, I do services , suspension, and basic stuff and was just reading engine management light fault codes , but got bought the blue driver diagnostics plug in there for Christmas, and I remember a while back you did diagnostic scan tools and I’m not sure if you used the BlueDriver,, but have been going through your videos trying to find it again , lol ....... as always dave great video , interesting , and always learning somthing , cheers, all the best Ian 👍..... ps enjoying the new opening sequences lol
i am intrigued now what turned on for such a short amount of time and pretty big current draw ,something doing a system test like power steering or something like that interested to find out ,good video as well.
Interesting stuff David...That’s a lot of current. Pump, motor or heater circuit domain...maybe multiple. Not sure how many A/F sensors/ HO2S the Brera has...perhaps those heaters cycle momentarily @ KOEO...Little more than a guess. As always, Thx for the mention. CheersPal 👍 P.S: Job for the Amp Hound 🤣
aye ian, i can hear something coming on at 20:04 in the video. Dunno what it is tho. Seems normal ok but i didnt expect to see that spike. thanks for your contribution in the video btw
I am going to have to do some research because my 4425a is not detected in pico 6,but working fine on pico 7- might be from the Panasonic tough book? Gonna have to try another laptop?
a couple of small suggestions, latest version of pico 6, make sure pico 6 has check for updates marked on cos it loads differently whenever i plug in the different scopes. if you have the scope running in pico7 it will not see anything in pico6. Picos are fussy with the usb lead
@@davesterl Thankyou very much for the reply and advice,I haven't tried to run 6&7 at the same time ,and do have the latest version of 6.Going to keep your words in mind just the same.
Hello Dave, well ware with the 4 channel, we have the older version in work and it’s a weapon of a thing! Not that I can use it properly or anything yet.....! Please god Jlr will train me up in using it properly over the next while...! In the mean time I’ve ordered the 2204a for playing with at home to try get used to using it !
Sending me to bed with more unanswered questions in my head! Thanks Dave. So what was that 120 in rush? Did you investigate? Its not staying on so something is checking for something I guess.
@@davesterl try the steering blocking module. I had a 159 2.2 some time ago and is a known failure module. It's underneath the steering column. TRW manufacturer...pretty dodgy design.

I think that the fuel pump duty cycle (if it has one) is showing up on the amp trace.

Yep I done the same 😁 there is some really good information here especially for a beginner like myself. Happy scoping. Cheers.
Please make video for pico 2204 a how to test battery good or bad step by step please
How do you think a pico 2205a would perform given its 25mhz and has higher sample
Rate?

Do you have the Bose sound system with your Brera Dave I wonder if it could the Bose amplifier causing that 124amp spike 👍
i dont think it does have Bose, not sure but looks like another vid to find out
With pico 2204a equipment
Can I use PicoDiagnostics?

Hi, my truck has twin battery set up and i just checked them separately
@@davesterl so you leave them both in and connected, then connect the scope to them separately?
Glow Plugs? I use Pico 4425 for every battery test. You can print the battery report from the menu at the top

Hey ian, i didnt review the bluedriver. Maybe you are thinking of an OBDeleven i got loaned one time

do you use pico diagnostics software with pico 2204??
I couldn't do it with him
Diagnostics only works with automotive scope
