@@FrillsterReal i think he is referring to the Lunatic Last Spell ( Spring Season ), capturing it is a nightmare but even surviving it with less than 2 lives is kinda hard. I usually end up having 5 lives on that spell so i don't even try to dodge. The entire touhou 16 game is easy af ( easiest Lunatic 1CC imo ) but if you want to clear it in No Bomb No Releases it can be a pain.
Lmao I literally beat that game 1st try with 4 lives left and captured like 95% of her health bar on that last spell, I mean a literally beat lolk with Marisa just the day before after a full week of tryharding so you can't really compare
Btw, when you get the Unconnected marketeers, there is an additional true ending and challenge for fighting Chimata with the blank card. Not many people do it and Chimata can feel a little bit anticlimactic if you never try it. (I assume people just don't know about it since it doesn't explicitly say)
fun fact about Shinmyomaru's survival spell card: your hitbox and character changing size is purely visual. what actually happens is that all projectiles have bigger hitboxes, but their sprites remain the same size. in my opinion LoLK does have SOME fun things(for example, in Junko's fight, the first spellcard and the non that has a big gap that rotates), but... yeah, it's rough when it comes to patterns. fun fact: Extra is seemingly balanced around pointdevice, like the rest of the game, but you can only play on legacy mode. so... ye, that's FUN Fricking Unalive(YT speech for kill) nne
ngl, a lot of stage sections on LoLK late game are really fun, like the waves of orbs lasers in st4, or when you enter lunacy time on stage 5, its so frantic but once you get the hang of it, is so fun, specially sections like race tracks where you have to be aggresive or you just get clapped, fuck Rain on stage 6 tho, shit ass section
Fun fact: In 2017, Yatsuzume was the first in the West to 1CC LNN Touhou 15. I don't know if you've watched his video but if you haven't seen it go check it out
With LoLK there is so much micro dodging and fast bullets which is a nightmare for reisan because every time you activate the bomb her hitbox expands, should have played with sanae, shes like buff upped reimu with a powerful bomb
Ironically, what you like about DDC is exactly what I like about UFO. Dealing with UFO's gimmick is very difficult, but you can get multiple lives per stage (two pieces from each red UFO that gets filled up for an extra life every 2 to 4 UFOs) which Ironically made it much easier to me than past games. The trick being to get as many as you can in the early stages, and in the later stages, only getting them when it's safe. I think it was even the first I managed to 1cc. Then again, everybody has different bullet patterns they're good or bad with, so it's possible the patterns played to my strengths. I've always been better with micrododging and unaimed shots than aimed ones.
Ten Desires was actually the game in the series that took me the longest to 1CC. I do agree that the patterns are easy, but the lack of resource was really bad for me. Meanwhile, LoLK only took me a couple legacy attempts after a pointdevice run. Though, the patterns are definitely the hardest of the main games and its extra stage is the hardest thing I've ever done in any video game. Also, I hope you'll try Great Fairy Wars, Shoot the Bullet and Double Spoiler at some point. They ended up being some of my favorites in the series.
A major reason Pointdevice is considered the real Easy Mode is because of 15's unique requirements for the good ending. Most of the other games ask you to 1cc. 15 makes a deathless run *mandatory* for the true ending. Because of the lore reason for Pointdevice, you technically never "die" and guarantees the good end as a result. Though Junko will call you out.
"Junko will call you out" as if she has room to complain, using her ability to instawin if you don't take the elixir and then throwing borderline illegal spell cards at you
Junko: I'm happy to see you. Reisen: That doesn't sound sincere. Junko: No, I'm VERY happy to see you. Reisen: You're definitely lying. Junko: I"M SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY...to see you.
LoLK is actually easier in harder difficulty because of the mechanics, there's ALOT of bullets in the screen so it's easier to get lives. I do not recommend using reisen in other difficulties because you need those invincibility in other almost-impossible spell cards that awaits
you did LoLK? okay now do Shoot the Bullet (and yell at me when it assaults you in the balls with a warhammer around Stage 8/9). 0:22 - This is technically not Hell (well, it's Ruins of Blazing Hell, part of Underworld and located below Palace of Earth Spirits and the Old Hell). The new Hell shows up in WBaWC and UDoALG. 16:29 - The stars on Hard and Lunatic are static rings spawning from Clownpiece, while the ones on Easy/Normal spawn randomly at top. The gist is that likely by the time you git gud enough to see the upgraded version, you'll have easier time reading it than the basic version.
Yep, LoLK the top 1 hardest game you truly ever seen. While you can or cant beat UFO 1cc, this one game can literally give you a true bullet hell than all of touhou official bullet hell series so much that this game is no ordinary bullet hell but a literal arcade bullet hell with absurd difficulties. And you dont have to feel bad playing reisen because most people use that character just for the bomb shield and win the whole legacy gamemode normal. You see both normal and lunatic difficulties have similar scale difficulty just different patterns and that is why LoLK is a one hell of a roller coaster ride. Congrat for 1cc LoLK although its better than nothing
UFO Lunatic is harder and requires more skill than LoLK and here is why: the mechanic. LoLK gives you way easier lives ( you just have to graze ), and the harder the difficulty the more bullets so in Lunatic is actually easier to gain more lives. The ufo mechanic on the other is way more hard to manipulate, and yes, every enemy drops the same ufo but that's the point, you have to play the game in a specific way to get the most lives possible. The fact that the ufos also distract you is the main reason why the same mechanic that gives you lives can be a runkiller. Also, as you said, with reisen you can graze without fearing the pattern or even try to actually dodge it so... Uh and btw GFW is kinda also on the same level of LoLK.
14 is also one of my favorites alongside 15 and 9,its usually ignored by the fandom because its not linked to any other game besides 6(similar story beats and youkai based on western mythology) and its story is very self contained. But the gameplay is really good, having a reward for using the point of collection really enhances the way the game feels and encourages aggressive play. Its also the only one of the gimmicks that is not done in a better way in a different game so it feels unique compared to other shoot em ups. Also the final boss theme its one of the best tracks ZUN has made outside of the CD's.
I strongly agree with your opinion when you said that of the 3 you preferred DDC. In terms of Lunatic it has a Mid-High difficulty and most importantly it has the mat mechanic which is my favorite. Rn im trying to LNB it and it is also going to be my first LNB and goddam it is hard.
4:50 Fun is subjective. "It's painful to learn" can be applied to all aspects of Touhou gameplay as a whole not just Trance as a individual mechanic, and in fact Trance is one of the most rewarding mechanics to master. Collecting spirits in the game is perfectly intuitive and straightforward; it's a high risk high reward aspect of stage sections. "Can cause a couple stupid deaths" is the player's fault, at worst it is not any more stupid than whatever else the series pulls off to make you lose lives. "The difficulty works against" them not only does difficulty not equal quality, but you can also simply play on Hard or Lunatic, and the gap between Normal and Hard in TD is a relatively large jump.
It works like this: The Gohei ( reimu main weapon ) spins and it adapts on the enemy sprite, when the gohei is at the center of the sprite obviously it has more dps. When you stop holding shift the gohei vanishes, if you rehold shift in front of the enemy the gohei goes directly into their sprites. That's why players reset the gohei position but they don't spam it, because spamming shift doesn't reset the weapon position, you have to time it. I know it cause im currently doing the LNB..
The reason why people started to spam is because if you keep a goot rythm you will fire unfocus homming amulets while the gohei is still active, so the damage is stupidly high
@@flandechocolate9675 when the boss moves fast it is helpful but homing bullets do not help that much in increasing overall damage ( just a bit ). Marisa/Alice team in imperishable night does massive damage if you spam shift, that's for sure
Best way to describe LoL K. Micrododging, micrododging and even more micrododging Also Reisen Bomb increase grazing field but also slightly increase her hitbox. That means you easier to get hit while her bomb active. Unlike Sakuya bomb in DDC, Reisen didn't clear entire screen which make her bomb weak against Laser type attack and she have barely invincible time when her bomb get hit while she can't renew new shield if there's still a shield so it's often after last shield break, you immediately die before able to renew shield
I found that in pointdevice mode, sanae and marisa are (unexpectedly) pretty good, while reisen is also unexpectedly very dependant on the user's skill. Reisen's bomb does give you the equivalent of extra lives, but getting hit barely gives you immunity frames, doesn't clear the whole screen, and deals no damage, so if you're not really good at dodging, you'll often end up using more than one in certain spell cards. (edit:) Reisen's bomb also makes your hitbox bigger. So yeah that's what why you couldn't dodge anything with her. Sanae is pretty good for collecting resources since her focused shot has homing and her bomb is a full screen clear, allowing you to focus on dodging. Marisa has very high speed, which makes her good for dodging, and high damage which makes up for the -0.01 power death penalty.
For Pointdevice the strategy is very much to use very few to no bombs at all up until stage 5 so you head into it with a full bomb count. Kinda wild that you gave up on it only to go for a legacy 1cc of LoLK which is imo, a lot more difficult. Nice job.
Y'know what? I'm currently working on th14 (im currently just cleaning up for a 1cc with Marisa A cus im a Marisa main lol) and and when I get to 15 I will actively refuse to use Reisen until i 1cc for the first time. I'm going to drive myself to the brink of utter madness just for fun. Edit: Just gonna keep this short. Recently got to th15. Running Marisa. Hell. Hell. Hell. Hell. Clownpiece. 407 attempts of Fake Apollo cus no bombs and I'm stubborn. I have yet to face Junko cus I want to record my first impressions to stage 6 like I did with the rest of the game. Will update once I complete PD mode with Marisa. Edit: I did it. It's been about a month or so, and I forgot to update. Im am SO glad that shit is over.
Im excited to see your thoughta on the modern quartet of 16-19. 18 is especially creative as far as Touhou games go, 17 has a suprisingly interesting narrative, 19 has the best main menu theme, & 16 is just plain fun.
reisen's bomb will give you 3 hit barrier in exchange larger your hitbox the more the barrier the larger the hitbox i think its almost impossible to micro dodge junko with full 3barrier intact
My first experience with LoLK was absolute legendary, the fight with Clownpiece was my favorite in the series! (i lost more than 300 times and dont know what is happiness anymore! :D)
Fortunately, 16-18 are a lot easier than 15. 16 and 18 became favorites of mune very quickly. (The stage 3 boss of th16 is a contender for my favorite character in the whole series)
So, after many long months of agony, you survived LoLK, how's it feel to beat the hardest game in the series? I can't say that I didn't expect the year long break between this and the previous Touhou episode to be caused by Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom, hope you enjoyed the struggle well! Plus the rest of the games won't be as hard as LoLK and UFO, so theres that to look towards. (Maybe I should play LoLK in lunatic point-device mode to be honest, this is really giving me the urge ._.)
If you still play terraria you should try the gensokyo mod, its really well made and can be super fun with all the references to the other games (I would say beat all the mainline games first though)
I've always found it funny that Clownpiece's ability is to drive people insane because boy did she broke the fourth wall with it. She is hellish to the point even her in "Easy" feels like one of the harder Normal stages you'd find in other games.
DDC is liked by normal players and hated by lunatic players and completionistsbasically: the shot types are horribly imbalanced where all the A types are god tier and sakuya B sucks, and kagerou (stage 3) on lunatic is the hardest boss in the game due to RNG
Shortly after TH 15's release, there was this joke in the fanbase: Fans: TH 14 was too easy!!! ZUN: is that so? LOLK :P "LOLK" has since then became a deep rooted -trauma- meme in TH community
Bruh, i never knew that you could activate your transe meter on th13 at will, i played all the game without it, so i never got the double heart piece too💀, ngl it was so easy that it didn't even matter
I never knew Ten Desires was the game where ZUN switched to digital art, I only knew that ZUN's artstyle started being crap around that time. Very cool fun fact. Overall, another BANGER video, as always, very worth the wait. Also, I don't know why, but at 0:42 I audibly cheered at my monitor of your usage of my favourite touhou song (花は幻想のままに)
imo dodonpachi saidaioujou is a nice game for bullet hell noobs who want to get into the genre but it's still a lot of fun to play since it has pretty cool mechanics you should try it :)
td does give you a lot of resources. you get like 5000 bombs ddc is one of the easiest games in the series because of how many resources you get and the broken shot types. reimuA can destroy bosses by shift spamming, sakuyaA still kills quickly and can slow down patterns and her bomb acts like a border, and marisaB can farm resources through her bomb lolk is massively overrated in terms of difficulty. reisen can get hit 288 times and still clear and sanae is arguably even more broken because she can graze during her bomb, so if she gets a life piece every chapter she can't game over
I think part of the issue LoLK has is that there's a very shallow difficulty curve. It starts hard and ends harder but not by much, and it's the same between difficulty levels; Clownpiece's attacks are virtually identical between Normal and Lunatic, so while she's absolutely brutal on Normal, she's arguably slightly easier than average on Lunatic.
Once again You forgot the extra stages There the best parts of the games and have some of the best Characters But you didn’t play them so you don’t know who Flandre, Koishi, Nue or Yukari are only Yukari shows up in non extra Stage Bosses and you’ve literally just said that Junko is one of the hardest yet you haven’t seen the Hell that is Koishi
I congratulate you on passing LoLK. I salute you for passing that inferno 😔✊ If you're safe, don't try legacy lunatic like me. The people who have NMNB on that are literal gods 😂 Btw, Orin really isn't that hard as people make her out to be. You just gotta learn and analyse her attacks like you did. Only her wheel spell is really a problem. You just gotta read its delayed shots and keep it in mind when you read the path through the bullets. Clownpiece IS the hardest stage 5 boss though. Probably even the hardest in the series. She's HELL in game form.

My first experience with LoLK was absolute legendary, the fight with Clownpiece was my favorite in the series! (i lost more than 300 times and dont know what is happiness anymore! :D)
For me, LoLK is my favorite title of the series because of pointdevice. So long as I have patience all bosses are as good as gone.
Clownpiece in the bullet hell is extremely hard meanwhile on lost word she's extremely weak
Fortunately, 16-18 are a lot easier than 15. 16 and 18 became favorites of mune very quickly. (The stage 3 boss of th16 is a contender for my favorite character in the whole series)
DOGGO!
I straight up rage quit with doromey props to you man for getting that 1cc. And great vid as well!
Saw the thumbnail and immediatly knew what happened
Lets see when u lost motivation to beat it
Lolk is such an evil game for people who do no miss no bomb lunatic runs
Just want to ask, what are you using to track the play time time on the games?
So, after many long months of agony, you survived LoLK, how's it feel to beat the hardest game in the series?
I can't say that I didn't expect the year long break between this and the previous Touhou episode to be caused by Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom, hope you enjoyed the struggle well! Plus the rest of the games won't be as hard as LoLK and UFO, so theres that to look towards.
(Maybe I should play LoLK in lunatic point-device mode to be honest, this is really giving me the urge ._.)
If you still play terraria you should try the gensokyo mod, its really well made and can be super fun with all the references to the other games (I would say beat all the mainline games first though)
i managed to capture junko's final spellcard but it took 774 retries across 4 days
Somehow I'm able to beat these suffering games on easy and normal, and also able to reach the extra stage bosses, Lol
Interestingly, I never 1cc Ten Desires but I managed to do it on DDC fairly easily.
I've always found it funny that Clownpiece's ability is to drive people insane because boy did she broke the fourth wall with it. She is hellish to the point even her in "Easy" feels like one of the harder Normal stages you'd find in other games.
I gave up because of her, I wanted to beat Junko but then.
DDC is liked by normal players and hated by lunatic players and completionistsbasically: the shot types are horribly imbalanced where all the A types are god tier and sakuya B sucks, and kagerou (stage 3) on lunatic is the hardest boss in the game due to RNG
Shortly after TH 15's release, there was this joke in the fanbase:
Fans: TH 14 was too easy!!!
ZUN: is that so? LOLK :P
"LOLK" has since then became a deep rooted -trauma- meme in TH community
yay
Base on your expression on touhou 15 i would say that it will take you forever to do a lunatic run or even an extra on that game lol,k
It would be nice if you do a fangames like BoSM, IBP, HSoB for example . Also the first one is hard
You should try Sylbyte it's a Touhou fangame, but in Roblox.
td does give you a lot of resources. you get like 5000 bombs
ddc is one of the easiest games in the series because of how many resources you get and the broken shot types. reimuA can destroy bosses by shift spamming, sakuyaA still kills quickly and can slow down patterns and her bomb acts like a border, and marisaB can farm resources through her bomb
lolk is massively overrated in terms of difficulty. reisen can get hit 288 times and still clear and sanae is arguably even more broken because she can graze during her bomb, so if she gets a life piece every chapter she can't game over
hop on crimzon clover and ketsui, I'm confident you can clear em
I think part of the issue LoLK has is that there's a very shallow difficulty curve. It starts hard and ends harder but not by much, and it's the same between difficulty levels; Clownpiece's attacks are virtually identical between Normal and Lunatic, so while she's absolutely brutal on Normal, she's arguably slightly easier than average on Lunatic.
that's wrong, clownpiece's nonspells are not very hard on normal mode but extremely difficult on lunatic mode
How non-touhou players see : quadultra
Dude, congratulations on beating Touhou 15. I gave up on Clownpiece.
Once again
You forgot the extra stages
There the best parts of the games and have some of the best Characters
But you didn’t play them so you don’t know who Flandre, Koishi, Nue or Yukari are only Yukari shows up in non extra Stage Bosses and you’ve literally just said that Junko is one of the hardest yet you haven’t seen the Hell that is Koishi
are you from the philippines? your accent is very familiar to me lol
mommy junko
was mommy junko
man, fuck touhou 15. i dont understand why people like it.
Simple, we love pain
it's one of the worst in my opinion ( with Ten Desires and UM ).
LoLK has really good soundtracks tho
LoL, K
I hate clownpiece alot
DDC is underrated
I congratulate you on passing LoLK. I salute you for passing that inferno 😔✊
If you're safe, don't try legacy lunatic like me. The people who have NMNB on that are literal gods 😂
Btw, Orin really isn't that hard as people make her out to be.
