I love that so much. It just feels so cathartic to be able to say that. They're just their special person. As soon as I saw the scene where Crowley came to Aziraphale in the jail in S1 and he lit up, I knew they were just in love
To be fair, he stutters a lot in interviews while thinking of his answers. But of course, you're absolutely right. There's no better word for the ineffable husbands :3
I love how they’re basically married, but they don’t need to say it. They’re just two dudes enjoying each other’s company for centuries, looking fondly at each other, living life, having a good time. It’s so much fun.
You're right with the exception of them being two "dudes". They're celestial beings without a concept of gender 😊 (Neil Gaiman has confirmed that btw-not in these exact words but yeah)
4:25 Michael and David both smiling as they're *clearly* both thinking "old married couple" while David desperately tries *not* to say "old married couple" 😭
Great conversation. And lovely quote! Found it: What do we any of us have but our illusions? And what do we ask of others but that we be allowed to keep them? W. Somerset Maugham
I think when Neil started to work on the sequel from the plot notes he and Terry Pratchett once made for book 2, he soon realized that there is so much happening in the story that he won't be able to fit it into the allotted number of episodes Amazon Prime allowed him per season. At least not without rushing everything and sacrificing a lot of details the fans love so much. And so we have season 2 with a cliffhanger. If he was allowed more episodes, we may have had a complete story, but with 12 or so episodes.
It's always interesting to listen to Michael and David trying to figure out how to best define Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship, especially when they don't want to give anything away lol. That relationship is so hard to pin down in human terms. It's far more complicated than a typical friendship, but also somewhat transcending what we would normally think of as a romantic partnership (though would definitely describe them as in love) due to the fact that they are supernatural beings and view everything through this otherworldly lens.
the quote at 4:48 is by W Somerset Maugham, and Michael also says that quote in the movie Kenneth Williams Fantabuloso, where he plays Kenneth Williams
Anyone else out there watching these interviews on repeat while anxiously awaiting news about whether season 3 is cancelled or not? 😢❤ We really need to make a collective effort as fans to show Amazon that we still care. For the sake of sir Terry and all the good people involved in this project.❤
2:50 Did Aziraphale not even offer Crowley to stay with him? When Aziraphale's shop burned down, Crowley offered him to stay at his apartment, but in the second season it's obvious Aziraphale knows Crowley is living in his car.
Considering he insinuates both the car and the bookshop are pretty much both of their bc "they both get a lot of use out of it" and that when Azira comes back from Edinburgh, Crowley just almost throws one of the box of plants at him to help him move back to the car, I'm guessing it was Crowley's choice. Maybe they weren't ready for that step, that admittance, but Crowley clearly spends enough time in the bookshop that he is super comfortable in it, and that Aziraphale feels he can say the bookshop is only technically "his" since Crowley uses it just as much, he clearly considers it is both of theirs in a way.
@@auroracapistrano638I think this is the best explanation. Also I think the demon wants his freedom and the angel is a bit too shy to ask directly “how about you stay here”
Yeah Neil mentioned that Crowley didn't tell anyone about living in his car. The only reason Shax knows is because she's living in his old flat. I don't think Aziraphale was completely unaware but he won't ask and Crowley won't tell lol
@@calliesullivan9491 I can totally see Crowley not telling Aziraphale that he's living in his car, he wants to keep his pride and doesn't want to rely on Azi. But him constantly driving his plants in the car must be a dead giveaway. And when he has to temporarily move the plants out because Aziraphale will be using the car, he does store them in the bookshop because he has no other place where to put them - another clear sign that he doesn't have his own apartment. But maybe Aziraphale really is that dense and doesn't get it, or falls for some flimsy excuse.
Love is exactly the reason we got that ending! There's more growth needed before they can be happy together, but it'll happen. Bring on the South Downs.
@@kashiichan Yes. We demand them living in a cottage together at the end of series 3. 😁 Honestly, I'm really looking forward to Derek Jacob as a villain in series 3. He's a brilliant actor 😍
I thought they were eclairs at first (I didn't know the translation, and it made sense, after all both start with eccle-). They look pretty nice though I'd try them if I could.
Can someone please give me their opinions/theories on why Aziraphale left Crowley for heaven? Especially when it's it been so evident that Aziraphale reciprocates Crowley's feelings for him? It's been killing me for the past week 😢
Phale can’t stop being an angel in his mind. Actually, as for me, he is the most angel angel in the heaven. When he lied, he worried so much, so his moral and ethical part is very strong. Crowley was disappointed in heaven, as well as hell, he doesn’t care about it anymore. The one who is important for him is Az, his actually best friend. (Best bf as well)))))) But for Az all the world will be in the first place, then the Crowley goes. He understands that the heaven is not perfect, that because he wants to change that. And as I noticed earlier, he has strong moral part. I am sure, that in his mind, the romantic couple of demon and angel can’t exist (mb Gabriel and Beelzebub changed his mind, but , c mon, all first season he denied that he and Crowley are friends). It takes time for Az. I m pretty sure, that we ll see the happy ending of that two.
Oh, and there is something else I knew from tiktok. There's a theory that there was something in the coffee Metatron gave Aziraphale, which was almond latte and almonds are sort of drug for angels
@user-qb4sp3su7b yesterday, someone told me that they think Metatron threatened Aziriphale that if he didn't return, he'd erase Crowley from the book of life, so Az pushed him away. He asked Crowley to join him because it was the only way they could stay together, even though heaven would never allow them to be, as Crowley put it, an "us." Damn, just writing this made me sad 😭😂
Crowley didn't think a second before offering his apartment to AZ in the end of Season 1, but AZ never offered Crowley his place. He does have a lot of rooms there, at least Jim got one...

Theres a short story by J.D. Salinger called "The Laughing Man (it's in "Nine Stories") about a man who keeps these kids transfixed with a series of stories about a hero...then his romance goes to hell and....the ending really sucks. That better not happen to these two!
David Tenant stuttering for like ten seconds trying to find a different word than "couple" than being like "eh, what the hell" 😂
I love that so much. It just feels so cathartic to be able to say that. They're just their special person. As soon as I saw the scene where Crowley came to Aziraphale in the jail in S1 and he lit up, I knew they were just in love
