I agree this is a very exciting development. It is in fact bizarre that ballet has kept its students away from repertoire- I was encouraged to play classical pieces within months of taking up the piano, yet know next to no ballet repertoire after years of study and achieving a high standard of technique.
Thank you ever so much for putting this video together. This has been an experience of green shoots, in my growth as a ballet student, especially when exploring new horizons. 💐
@@mandapanda1804 Wow those grades are phenomenal! Well done! My studio sometimes include combinations from it, but we haven't been studying the syllabus unfortunately.
Hi Cara. You do not have to take graded examinations to take the Discovering Repertoire programme. You can find out more information on our website > www.royalacademyofdance.org/learn-to-dance/discovering-repertoire
What a shame that the RAD is so discriminatory. They want adults to be able to take Discovering Repertoire but do not sell the exam clothes above a size 12. This is utterly disgraceful. What are students who are not anorexic supposed to do if they can’t fit into the clothes?
Hi Chiara, we do not expect adults to wear children's exam uniform. We have a dedicated 'adult ballet wear' section on the RAD Enterprises website, which you can find here: www.radenterprises.co.uk/ballet-wear-props/adult-ballet-wear
@@royalacademydance Why on earth would I be looking at the children’s clothes?! I’m obviously talking about the adult sizes. Your site only sells up to an adult size 5. That is about a size 12 or very, very small 14. That is just not fair. So you only want adults who are 5’2” and about a size 10 to look good. I had to go to another site (dance direct) to find the Coppelia skirt in a 6. As for the leotard in a 6, well that’s impossible to get into. That is extremely upsetting and demoralising. You should put a disclaimer that you don’t want normal looking women in your classes. I found a leotard on eBay that will fit in the end.

Fantastic, our dance school in Ledbury have just started this repertoire. We love it. Thank you so much.
As an adult ballet student this is fantastic!

I really hope my studio starts doing this
I really really hope. The music makes a huge difference to me. When I hear music from famous ballets just gives me a boost.
