    Thank you for showing a video with a dog who isn't treat/food-motivated. My dog loves attention so this is perfect for him.

      I have a year old labrador and jumping is literally the only bad thing she does. She is so intelligent… I’m going to train this behavior until it works. You are very smart to train this early on! Good luck to both of us! 😊

      My lab mix is now 15 months old (I adopted her at 6 months) and we're STILL working on her jumping! She will calmly heel right up to a person, but when I say "say hi" she jumps up on them like that's the command for jumping. I've tried standing on her leash before, but now that she's a bit older we'll take a step backwards in our training and try it again. It's imperative that she learn not to jump since I live in a senior apartment building with lots of elderly, frail people with walkers and balance problems, and we/she would be kicked out if she knocked someone down.

    Our originally 50-60lbs hound mix, according to the rescue we adopted her from, is now 100lbs. When we figured out she was gonna be bigger than they assumed, we knew we had to teach her not to jump. Plus, it's just good manners. We took a thin lead, like you'd use for a puppy and kept it attached to her collar. We cut the loop off so she wouldn't get it caught on anything. Then when people came over or we came home, we would step on it like the handler did in the video. She learned pretty quickly. Now she doesn't jump up on people. If she gets really excited she does a 'bunny hop' where her front paws may leave the ground by a couple of inches.

    This is so incredibly helpful! I have a 6 month old cattle dog x who is an absolute sweetheart and so smart. His impulse control when it comes to loving, including jumping on visitors has been our biggest training challenge. I cant wait to put this into practice! THANK YOU!

    Great video. I like the emphasis on the dog winning and making good choices. That seems to be the new path in dog training. I puppy raise service dogs, and still find these videos helpful. Every technique is in-line with what we do for our pups. We also start on Day 1. Currently raising pup #5 who is 9 weeks old.

    Hi! Your videos are great and I have been watching so many. We just got a 10 month old puppy and he was going in the house and in. Less the. A week we have gotten him to stop by the guidance of these great videos. We are currently working on bitting and I have a question. He is learning to play and when I get the long rope toy away from him he grabs at my end hitting my hand. I’m not really sure what I should I be doing in this to correct the behavior. I’ve watch almost all of your bitting videos and haven’t seen this unique behavior shown. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for these videos they are really helpful and informative.

    I have a new roommate with an adorable schnauzer mix puppy (1 yr. old). However, he DOES pull, and he jumps, and barks - a lot, and tries to bolt when I open the door. My dog is not innocent (she barks from the time I touch her leash and harness till we get off the front steps for our walk.) But, now, she's picking up even worse habits! I LOVE your videos, but I'm wondering - My roommate doesn't speak ANY English. Do you have video's in Spanish? I asked a trainer in town, he said he doesn't know any Spanish speaking trainers. Please help?

      Ask your roommate to teach you commands in Spanish. Then you can both work together to train the dogs. My last roommate taught me basic Spanish and some cool swear words which I wasn't supposed to say to his grandma. :)

    • @stealurcookies
      @stealurcookies ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dog language = universal body language. The language shouldn't matter. The consistency in raising the dog between you and your roommates should exist 😘 For example, as long as I keep my hand up I can tell my dog in every language I want him to sit. I teach him in Dutch, English, Japanese... Only very specific and more complex commands I use only one name.

    What about when people come up to your dog if you are sitting down. How would you stop the jumping up in that scenario?

    • @k.j.paasche6523
      @k.j.paasche6523 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd put the dog in a down-stay and put your foot on the leash to keep them there, especially if they don't have a solid down-stay.
