How medal event is judged:
1 heat of 8 athletes. 30 minute controlled jam session. Best run counts, ranked 1 - 8.
Competitor’s will take as many runs as they can within the 30 minutes.

I skated as a kid but I switched to BMX for Scotty. His commentating makes it so much better (and skatebording is just sooo bad).

I remember watching Garrett Reynolds when I was like 14 or 15 years old. I can't believe he is still competing at the top level 15 years later.... just wow....
same, I would have been stoked if he got gold and beat the all-time record, but from the very beginning I knew Boyd was taking this one lol

Wall ride on the pagoda was the best bit, and it was right at the start 😄

Kevin Peraza is the axell Hodges of BMX. Always smiling throwing down big tricks with the boys.
Peraza's 1st run felt a bit underscored, but I think they got the podium 100%. Cool to see some new faces! Courage Adams was my favorite.

that's much better than the skate street contest........riders personality, trick variation, cameradery, commentary
The lineup was so stacked. You literally cant ranks these guys. All goats in their own right. Stoked for Boyd!

The line up was stacked. The only other riders I would have like to see are Dennis Enarson and Matt Ray. Boyd reminds me of Enarson. Similar styles and even look alike a bit. ❤
The very best run deserved the win! Finally a hardcore street run! And a big hooray to Courage Adams, getting the place he deserves in BMX! 🤙🤙
It makes me happy seeing these guys smile in the middle of the competition when they land a big trick! They are having a blast out there.

XGAMES, if you see this...
I grew up watching xgames, BMX park was always my favorite event. but the Parks having to cater to skateboards AND bmx really makes it difficult for the bike riders.. I understand budgets may be tight, and skateboarders and Bmx riders have to ride the same course, but BMX park has been suffering the passed 3 or 4 years, specifically because of the course designs, if we want to TRULY progress each sport, some disciplines need their own course.. bmx park has its own course, skateboard park has its own course.. now designing a bmx street/skateboard street course is WAY more realistic.... but the BMX PARK riders NEED BIGGER RAMPS...... thanks in advance xgames, always watching every year for nearly 20 years
the main point I wanted to make was, BMX STREET is becoming the best bmx competition, when for many many years BMX PARK was far ahead of any other event, imo.. I know skateboarding is very popular but still.... if the Skaters need their own park, make them one, and make the bmx park with bigger ramps because bmx freestyle needs bigger ramps to progress. PEACE AND LOVE XGAMES 🙏

Too bad they only had 2 runs, this looks like a pretty fun course for some tech lines, also judges were a little low on Devon and Felix's runs but oh well, everyone killed it
It seems to me that Broc Raiford was underestimated by the judges in the first run and it is a pity that he fell in the second run
Garrett is forever the legend, but Boyd is insane. Might be the new top street dog now or in the near future

The judges underscored Boyd's first run so hard that everyone else's score was cut by 5 points to compensate

What a FANTASTIC contest this was!!! Everyone rode great and brought their A game, was fun to see Reynolds pull out a medal run after falling on the first and for Courage to get silver too. Boyd KILLED it. Peraza’s first run was definitely underscored but I think the podium was 💯

Bit of a newbie to street BMX here, can anyone explain to me why Peraza's first run was 'only' 81.66? It had pace, big tricks, cool combo's and was packed with style. I'm curious about the judging criteria.
Edit: even more confused after Hilders second run, yes his biggest trick was better and the trick at the end even a noobie can see is impressive, but the bulk of the run seemed a bit less impressive. Going up 3.33 is quite a leap.
Judges don't judge style nearly enough. It should factor in way more than it currently does.

One more top we use at boxing that will make your wrists like 'concrete'is to hang isometrically from a pull up bar daily for 1' with 1' rest after every set for three sets totally!
Met Kevin one day down at Linda Vista. I was skating and he was there just goofing about (at least that's what it seemed like, maybe he was getting warmed up to hit the streets). Nicest dude to just randomly get an opportunity to interact with. Wasn't until later, after I posted a clip of him that I had inadvertently filmed while trying to catch the trick I was trying, that I found out who he was and a friend in the bmx world messaged me with something along the lines of "Kevin is the best! Tell him I said what's up!"

@@formulaic78 Not even just different sports, completely different events. I'm not sure if there's anyone else yet who has medals in both summer and winter events. It was mental to see someone in their prime competing at that high a level in both skateboard and snowboard simultaneously.
