You want to know what so funny? That particular year in 2013 recruiting class, Alabama also signed Alvin Kamura, Tyren Jones and Altee Tenpenny. They signed 5 RB total. Plus they had a redshirt named Kenyon Drake and T.J. Yeldon from 2012 recruiting class competing in the fall of 2013 for running back. TJ Yeldon even got a thousand rushing yards in his true freshman year. That is incredible on how Derrick Henry wind up to be a Heisman winner and a successful pro career after almost being buried at Alabama with Yeldon getting the initial nod on Henry's 1st two years. ps. Kamura have to leave Alabama after his troublesome freshman year.
Man if Julio played in today’s Alabama offense he would put up some ridiculous numbers. 7 td’s as a junior is disgraceful but Greg was handing off to Ingram 9 times out of 10 😂
Awards don't mean anything. Henry is obviously a great running back but he had big concerns about his quickness/agility and ability to break tackles against larger NFL players (seems ridiculous to say that now). Stats aren't even that important when it comes to scouting, measurables, game tape and upside + scheme fit are king. Awards mean nothing. The best player at a position at 20 years old doesn't mean he will be the best at 25. That's why a guy like Trey Lance/Greg Rousseau will go high this year despite not having particularly impressive individual college careers.
Trent didn't get drafted to a good team. When, you are drafted high, you go to the worst teams in the NFL. Cleveland had the worst offensive line and Indianapolis was horrible. Andrew Luck retired early for a reason. He ndver really got a fair shake.
You could seriously build a Superbowl team with just Alabama and LSU recruits. Think of what a receiving core you'd have Julio, OBJ, Amari Cooper, Jarvis Landry, Calvin Ridley, Justin Jefferson. You'd have so much talent you'd hafta cut a consistent 1,000 yard per season guy. Then be loaded at running back also but the secondary with the Honey Badger, Fitzpatrick, Eddie Jackson Patrick Peterson would be sick nasty also. Both of those schools recruit absolute studs consistently.
Could you do like USC, Miami, Texas, Tennessee or like Florida State. I feel like they get so many top recruits yet they develop none of them and it never leads to wins. It would be interesting to see how many of their top recruits didn’t end up making it because I feel like a lot didn’t.
Bro look up Derek Henry’s high school stats. I literally haven’t any earthly idea what else a running back needs to do to get a perfect rating. If he didn’t get it no running back will ever get it for the rest of the history of the sport of football
💯 His high school stats are outrageous!!! No one will ever get a perfect rating if he didn’t. 4000 rushing yards is good high school career. He had 4200 his senior year with 55 TDs!! Imagine doing that and then a coach telling you “yeah you can come to our school but you gotta sit behind TJ Yeldon and Kenyan Drake until you’re a Junior”?!?!
